{R.I.P. SACHA GIRL}

June 17 was a fatal day for our Sacha girl... She got hit by a car before breakfast time as she did not show up when Pieter put all the bowls out in the garage. That was strange. At noon, just as we sat together with a cup of green tea and the mail, the doorbell rang and I opened. There stood the neighbor from across the street with a cat in a bag; literally. His young son was with him. They had picked up 'their' dead cat from the road, they thought. As they were about to bury her; their cat showed up. Oh my gosh it must be the neighbor's cat they said and they had to notify us. That was quite a sad and shocking news. She was still warm but dead. Her chin had gotten a blow and her hind legs were scraped at the knees... I cried, this is such a sad thing and she will be dearly missed by all of us. Her siblings and her human parents.
Rest In Peace dear SACHA GIRL...
Born on March 30, 2007 at 10:45 AM
Died on June 17, 2013
Here I am holding Sacha in my hands, she is only 4 days old. She is born in our home and was the middle baby of 5...
Here she is romping with her two brothers as they are almost six weeks old.
One week later at the age of 7 weeks; all 5 are napping on my covered chair in the Rose Suite where we all had moved temporarily.
Almost 8 weeks now and playing all 5 together. Learning and discovering life...
Now they are 8 weeks. ALL together napping on this foot stool.
Their Mamita Spicy, whom we rescued and brought home from Acapulco, Mexico is looking on.
Sacha with her white socks and gloves was the easiest to recognize all the time.
Sacha is almost 3 months here and sleeping in a box...
All three sisters napping on top of our down duvet... 5 months old here.
Three days later, all 5 siblings napping on the cotton mat in front of the French door to the balcony...
Sacha was like her Mamita Spicy, a tuxedo cat.
Ten months old here and Sacha was like her Mamita Spicy, a master at standing on her hind legs.
Bandido is very vocal, showing his teeth while talking. Sacha was the most vocal; we will miss her talking...
She could just hold on to the down-folded table flap to stand tall for 'begging'.
Whenever we had a cup of coffee or a tea she wanted a cat treat!
Please Papi or Mami; give me 3 of those crunchy treats...!
We always had our coffee or tea as the mail man came. Here something in a parcel was wrapped in tissue paper. Sacha claimed that right away! Now she looked 'gift-wrapped'...
Bandido or 'Dido' as we call him, was her favorite brother and look how they napped together!
4th of July, 2011 and Sacha is watching the US Flag... The Georgia flag is on the other side, not seen here.
December 9, 2011 Sacha got picked up by daughter Liz before we left to the Atlanta airport where we  dropped Liz off...
That was the last time she ever would hold her.

A picture from last year on the driveway where they all love to lie and roll...
April last year and Sacha always was vocal. Here she says goodbye to all of us...
Cuddling her, was not that easy as she was very shy but once she was in my arms; she melted and loved it.
She always caressed my face with her velvety paw; I love you Mami...
How I miss my sweet girl!

I like to use a quote here from my best friend: 'Only those who share love in life, share sadness in death...'

{More of my Handmade Filet Lace Embroidered Angels}

Just like in my earlier post about my Handmade Filet Lace Embroidered Angels for our bathroom, I like to show you more in detail the ones from our guest bathroom. They are made by hand, using the French DMC thread for filling up the machine made net for creating this Filet Lace Embroidery.
This is the outside of our guest bathroom window.
It is the best way for showing these Handmade Filet Lace Embroidered Angels.
For privacy we actually don't need any window treatment as it is quite high and nobody can look through those windows!
But it certainly does add a personal touch of my love for angels and roses...
The first photo I took on June 12, and this one is from August 21, 2012 when the huge fig tree still stood behind the vinyl fence.
We never could reach those figs; only the birds could! So it got the death penalty and is no longer growing there.
This photo is from March 25, of this year and now our bathroom window, to the left, is also visible with its Filet Lace Embroidered Angels (you can see that previous post below).
Did you notice that our home also badly needed to be pressure washed and painted?
Well, the first photo showed you that we DID take care of that, as well as the one below.
Two painters worked for 3 weeks on the pressure wash + painting and on Monday, June 3rd the job got completed.
That's your sneak preview... Quite a  difference or not?!
The guest bathroom angels are a bit larger than the ones in our bathroom but I opted for two different patterns.
This is the pattern I used and I just mirrored it.
Again a pattern that was in the book: Hemels Handwerkboek by Marie Van den Berk-Mertens
The above link will bring you to Amazon.com
Hemels Handwerkbook is Dutch for Heavenly Handworkbook
Even if this book is in Dutch, the patterns and the photos speak for itself and it has many patterns listed.
Hope you enjoyed our guest bathroom angels and the sneak preview of the exterior painting job.
You will get to see more to come but first more renovations inside.
Stay tuned...

{Our Hallway}

Let me show you the next finished project, inside our home. Husband Pieter, did also change the wooden baseboard in our hallway into a tiled one. These white tiles for the bathrooms, kitchen, veranda and hallway came back with us from Italy in a 40-foot container with all our belongings. Life in Italy was over as we did not build our home in Italy but went back to Georgia/USA. Okay, welcome into our hallway!
From the front door you face the dining room to the left and straight ahead is the living room.
The white ceramic chandelier from Italy you can find below this post in a previous post's link.
Those white tiles are from Italy, we bought them at the time we worked and lived there.
When we did not construct the house in Italy, we did bring everything back to Georgia/USA.
Here you see husband Pieter's work; a tile baseboard after he removed the wooden one.
This is nice glossy and a lot easier for cleaning and it looks better with the tiles in this room.
Turning now back towards the front door, past the dining room door.
You cannot see my French DMC Rose Filet Lace Crocheted Curtains here, due to the glare.
But in the link below this post you can view them. By the way, that is my 3rd most viewed post!
Our French oak coat rack with chest.
Looking all the way to the end of the hallway, where our master bedroom is.
First door is to the staircase, next door is a closet where we keep our winter coats and boots.
Next is the office (you recently saw a post about it) and last door is the guest bedroom (you also got to see that).
Stepping halfway down the hallway you can see the office door to the right and guest bedroom next with the master bedroom straight ahead.
These beautiful Ipomoeas in blue (Pieter's favorite color - which he CAN distinguish very well) are done by my sister Diny Van den Munckhof, in 2004.
The brass plate with peacock was a gift to Pieter when he was still principal at the practical training college in The Netherlands.
Sister Diny's artwork...
Frame is by Irok gallery, our favorite as they do museum quality framing.
Looking back to the closet where we keep our coats and boots and the door to the staircase.
Looking to the right you see a row of  10 hand painted wild mushroom plates by A. Zen Nove, ITALY.
That was a gift from our company in Italy. They had each year a different one painted by this artist in a limited numbered edition of 100. See link below post for more details.
Three Royal Tichelaar Makkum pieces in polychrome.
Made by the The Netherland's oldest company and framed in French oak.
Royal Tichelaar Makkum wall plate in polychrome.
This photo is taken from the door opening of the master bedroom.
To the right you see our bi-fold closet which I did show in a previous post: My closet looks like a neat store - see below post.
the next door is a closet where we keep albums and the vacuum cleaner and such.
A bit more recessed is the door to the guest bathroom, that you recently saw in a post.
Turning towards the master bedroom door.
These hand embroidered wild mushrooms in cross stitch, I made long time ago and they hung in the office of Principal Pieter at his practical training college for mushroom growing.
Looking up to the ceiling where a foldout staircase leads to the attic.
THAT will be another project...
Hope you enjoyed the tour!
