Being outdoors here on our own property, you almost daily can observe our garden critters.
Here below is the Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis) ←click link and it is about 5-8 inches long or 12-20 cm.
Nicely basking in the sun on an agave leaf!
They can either be green or brown, depending on environmental conditions.
Ma che bella questa lucertola!Nel mio giardino ci sono tante lucertole,ma di color marroncino.
ReplyDeleteCara Olga,
DeleteQui sono anche spesso brunastri, possono adattarsi all'ambiente circostante.
Abbracci,
Mariette
Never seen any lizards in our garden. They are good at eating many insects.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteYes, that is what they do, catching flies, mosquitoes and such.
Hugs,
Mariette
Pretty green colouring. What do your cats think of the lizards? :-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Kim,
DeleteThese inside our greenhouse were indeed pretty green but they can adapt to their surroundings.
Tiggy-Tiger girl has caught many baby lizard... she chases them into the gutter of our front patio. Often I've rescued them!
Hugs,
Mariette
We've spotted many an anole at my mother's home, Mariette. I can't believe how relaxed these lizards are around you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Dearest Martha Jane,
DeleteGuess they knew our voices as we worked in or near the greenhouse.
It was unique to see them like this!
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, Those green lizards ate the cute American kind. I don't know what you saw in Indonesia, but here there are fat brown lizards (bihu) that crawl around inside on the walls and ceiling, make a lot of noise at night, and are rather unsanitary. I wish I knew how to get rid of them! Some have suggested cats, and while I love your cats through your blog, I don't want pets of my own, especially as I usually travel to the U.S. for several months each year and could not take proper care of them.
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest. Jim,
DeleteYes, the little green or brown lizards are cute and here they only are outside.
In Indonesia we had lots of cicak inside and outside, they were small. The big fat Tokay Gecko I've seen also in Indonesia and heard them; very noisy!
We never had them inside our homes in Indonesia but have observed them on ceilings of outdoor eateries and such where they loved circling around the light. People joked that they love to fall into the soup... haha. And they can be very loud.
Don't know if cats would like to catch them. But for you having to travel so often it is no option indeed.
Hugs,
Mariette
OMG - just opened up here and find we both posted on our lizards today, how cute is that! Mariette - we must think alike, haha!!!! I think mine is also an Anole - same size, and colors which change.
ReplyDeleteHere's to the weekend - garden visitors are busy this time of year, humans not so much!
Hugs - Mary
Dearest Mary,
DeleteThat is funny indeed! Colors indeed can adapt to their surroundings and most likely they are Anole. Yesterday, while driving back and forth to Atlanta, we passed a Geico car with their cute green Anole on the side! Love those commercials.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh my ..... a huge laugh to start my day! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
DeleteThat video is a nice 'start-of-the-day' indeed!
Hugs,
Mariette
Mariette
Nah, we don't really have any lizzards around here, especially at gardens. Anyways that one seem to own pretty camouflage colour pattern. :D
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteTrue, they are very rare in northern Europe. This one can adapt its color to the surroundings.
Hugs,
Mariette
Abrazos,
Mariette
Oh so nicem
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteThose green Anole are cute critters to watch.
Hugs,
Mariette
It's cute, and useful.
