Tiggy-Tiger in her Basket + Update

About time to post something...
Well, we've had quite some weeks to live through!
Pieter had a bad bronchitis for a very long time, he's doing great again.
Got so worried...
Our tiny Tiggy-Tiger girl made me smile, we ought to learn form our felines!
She found herself a new spot to sleep in.
Pieter's Mushroom Science books are all gathered in the big box below and on top we placed an empty basket, to get it out of the way.
She LOVED it!
The above photos I took on October 26, needless to say that I was too late for capturing her sleeping...
Haha.
On November 11, when I worked in my office, scanning the old letters that Pieter had found when clearing the storage space under our front porch, I slowly went over and GOTCHA!
I'd used old fashioned wooden clothes pins to fasten the flannel square (a table topper) for her to sleep on.
She's in HEAVEN.
After some lovely 3 days north of Atlanta, for a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding Day and a nice Birthday Breakfast, we came home on Sunday afternoon.
That Monday the tiles of the shower and floor got taken out.
This was on Tuesday, the wall paper got removed.
NICE MESS and you ask if we got any DUST?
ARE YOU KIDDING?!
For ONLY 2 months this special toilet sat in its box in our hallway...
WAITING to get build in!
Those are times that you just have to put your brain on zero and move ahead.
LOOK, after only 2 months the toilet finally got placed on November 7.
So happy we now at least have our upstairs toilet again.
No more trips down the stairs into the Rose Suite.
The other bathroom is functioning as a closet space for Pieter's suits, shirts, pants.
We hung broomsticks and metal rods over the tub doors and wall unit.
Looking so much forward to CHRISTMAS for having again a spic and span home!
More relaxed days ahead.
Meanwhile I did finish the mega task of scanning additional letters.
Still need to align some scans and crop them, date them and file them away.
Have been tutoring also for the months of September and October.
Busy and that is good, time is moving rapidly that way!
But I'm sure looking forward for all renovation projects coming to an END.
Waiting on the glass for shower...
Today the faucet got placed and other things hung.

We're still not through with the renovation and the rainy weather is not helping either...
Tiggy-Tiger claims her best places, she's so smart! Hate it when Safari's spell-checker changes Tiggy into Piggy. It happened to me as well.
Wooden clothes pins are from more than 35 years ago, I kept them still.
So happy with Pieter's recovery indeed. Maybe the end of the year we can relax. Still need to tutor, so not much time yet.
      Hugs,

We try indeed to prepare ourselves for any circumstance and for staying in our home till the very end.
Tiggy-Tiger is not too worried about all the work that needs to be done; we should learn from them!

  6. Hello Mariette, I certainly understand about construction mess. After some work in my apartment, there was so much dust and dirt on the checkerboard floor that the vivid pattern was not even visible! I hope that you and Pieter will be back to a comfortable life very soon.

Well, we keep in mind what the end-result will look like and it is worth it.
We'll get there and clean away all the dust from weeks of breaking, sanding down etc.
One thing is sure, next year it will be a lot more comfortable!

I'm sorry your husband Pieter got bronchitis but glad he is better now.
I hope your renovation project will complete soon :-) We had our walls painted recently. It made a huge mess and I'm glad it's over!

Tiggy-Tiger is very sweet, a cute little girl. Hah, another Safari acting up on changing 'Tiggy'.
Things look good for Pieter, I was very worried but he's fine now.
Slowly we're getting to the end of it all... with patience and as I always say: put your brains on zero... let time pass!
Our entire bathroom got painted, after stripping the wall paper and sanding down the walls... Bedroom is getting partly done. There was a crack above the door and he already filled that in, now it's gone. Office will get touched up as well.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

Yes, Pieter is fully recovered but a dear friend in The Netherlands is very sick right now. It seems to last for weeks and affects the lungs in a nasty way.
Tiggy-Tiger is a sweet little girl.
Looking forward to having the glass doors installed and starting the cleaning.
The painter will be back on Wednesday, he too got sick...

      With patience, we're getting there!

  10. Mariette,

I've had bronchitis twice and it's exhausting! I didn't know to go the a doctor for it. Now if I think I'm getting it, I run to my doctor who gives me antibiotics. It seems to knock it out (unless it's caused by a virus). Glad your husband is over it.

I love you bathroom. I perfer light colors in a home. Someone I knew here had their bathroom renovated but selected black as a main color. To me, it feels like entering a cave. I've also worked with people who keep their offices dark. Again, I like light and airy!

Looks like a much loved kitty-cat.

    1. Dearest Debbie,
During my lifetime I've had numerous times bronchitis and took lots of antibiotics... For the last couple of years I'm fine though.
Yes, Pieter is over it so far and hope we sail through winter without problems!
We both prefer light colors and there are no dark rooms in our home. Hate to enter dark bars or restaurants where you hardly can read the menu... Not my choice!
A big window to look outside is the BEST and it lifts us up.
Oh you bet that Tiggy-Tiger is being loved!

  12. Dear Mariette,
What a lovely looking cat Tiggy is - she looks very alert and intelligent too.
You must be pleased that the worst of the renovation project is over. I had my shower-room done last year, and also the kitchen, so know just what you are going through. From time to time it is necessary to update our homes, but I am always grateful when the jobs are done and the workmen pack their bags and leave.

The worst is indeed over, at least the dust part of it.
We both will be so grateful when all is over with, the home cleaned entirely and life continues at its normal pace with every-day routine.

    1. Beste Ada,
      Liefs,

Yes, it sure was a joyful moment for having it ready and clean and that the day before Thanksgiving. It made for a very special day.
Pieter is doing fine again but the weather is so dreary, such dark days and rainy and cold/windy...
Tiggy-Tiger is the sweetest little girl, a real cuddle toy. Only when you hold her in a special way, as I did with her as tiny kitten. She otherwise cannot sit still, only when she wants to sit in your lap she does so. Special moments that i don't want to disrupt.
