Our Golden Mist Home and Quercus Virginiana Grand View Gold

It is the BEST time of the year for our Quercus Virginiana Grand View Gold...
Saturday morning April 15 with full sunshine!
Benjamin Moore Golden Mist paint for our home with the Interlock Metal Roofing in aged copper slate and Quercus Virginiana Grand View Gold to the right of our home.
Yep, the golden oak had a lot to do with the paint color... 😉
Lots of pot plants on our patio.
Here you can see the entire Quercus Virginiana Grand View Gold
Sure it will even be more golden in the next week or so, see links below for the 'perfect' view.
Yes, our Eastern Phoebe is residing once again on the very same nest (we left it there as I'd read they return to their previous nest!) and has babies.
Last year's nest and you can see their beaks up—ready for Mom or Dad to bring them food.
They love their romantic surroundings by Vintage Woodworks...
This morning I captured the babies and we are not quite sure if there are 3 or 4 in the nest...
Pieter did purchase this beauty for becoming a potplant for our patio.
White Dipladenia it is called.
Dipladenia is in the Mandevilla family but it is a bushier plant whose stems grow down and hang.
This photo I made this morning to give a view of the bay window area and even you see the gazebo on the left.
There are lots of leaves blown off the Southern Magnolia tree...
Yes, on Friday, around 1:00 PM we had torrential rain + wind!
With our Benjamin Moore Golden Mist paint color, we of course had to have yellow pansies...
The same planter on the left is filling in as those got planted somewhat later.
A detail with some rain drops from yesterday...

Montréal Windsor Station and Mary Queen of the World Cathedral

Our final day at Fairmont Le Chùteau Frontenac Québec City, was a Sunday on August 16, 1998.
We were already at the indoor pool on the 6th floor by 8:15 o'clock.
There also was a beautiful roof garden with seating areas!
We both enjoyed swimming together.
Then we went to shampoo our hair and enjoyed brunch by 10:30 o'clock.
We checked out from this jam–packed hotel with its 620 rooms!
All the costumed people from Maine (for the re–enactment) also appeared to be staying there.
We waited, as someone from valet parking retrieved our car.
As always, it was quite an art to get out of the old city with its one–way traffic and finding the Interstate.
In front of the beautiful QuĂ©bec City Train Station (Gare du Palais) with its green roof.
By the way, many green roofs, including Le ChĂąteau Frontenac, where we stayed; all made of copper!
This seems late medieval—quite beautiful.
And guess what we have on our roof since 2013?
Interlock Metal Roofing, Interlock® Aluminum Slate in Aged Copper—Made in Canada!
So NOW you know what influenced us for doing that; except ours does not turn green from old copper patina... 😉 Our Home Freshly Painted ←click link.
~
On August 16, 1998 we drove the 240 km or 149 mi by car from the capital of Québec City to Montréal, both within the Province of Québec, Canada.
Next day on the 17th, we started walking around, in Centre–Ville or Downtown MontrĂ©al.
The French language gave us a very 'close–to–home' feeling as we have so much French in our own language due to history under French rulers.
Especially my Province Limburg is very much French.
After first having visited the Saint George's, Anglican Church from 1870, we then walked upon Montréal Windsor Station, one of Montréal's most beautiful buildings.
Such a beautiful neo–Romanesque architectural style by New York architect Bruce Price who also did Le ChĂąteau Frontenac, where we came from in QuĂ©bec City and the most famous Banff Fairmont Hotel where we stayed during our Rocky Mountaineer Journey Exploring Banff with Brewster Sightseeing ←click link.
One only can admire such marvels of architecture!
We then entered Mary Queen of the World Cathedral.
There was noise from the lawn mower outside and the doors were wide open.
They also were doing some restoration work.
Bumped myself terribly on front of thigh... when I did slide into one of the old wooden pews.
Montreal's Spectacular Vatican Replica (1894) ←click for 2:54 minute informative video viewing outside from above and around as well as inside explained.
Indeed, successfully created for achieving a sense of sanctity!
It is balm for the soul to see that SO MUCH TALENT by the world's BEST ARCHITECTS AND CRAFTSMEN was put together in HONOR OF MARY, the MOTHER OF JESUS!
Feeling so grateful for having been there...

Has any of my readers visited these places?

Our Home Freshly Painted

Our home once again needed a fresh paint...
We used the very same Benjamin Moore Golden Mist.
Last time done was in May of 2013...
A lot of intricate painting work needed to be done on all the Vintage Woodworks spindles, ginger bread and trimmings. Painters Stanley Jessup and Randy Slaughter did a great job.
So after having it pressure washed on November 16, the painters finally started on November 29...
Our Interlock Metal Roofing, Interlock® Aluminum Slate in Aged Copper looks very nice as it is protected for a lifetime by AlunarⓇ embedded with TEFLONⓇ surface protector for ultimate durability and protection. See links of previous post below.
Above photo is taken under our Magnolia Grandiflora, which is now trimmed up and allows for a much nicer view of the home.
Since we'd requested the painters already in April of 2021, Pieter started doing preparations prior to their job... The lowest step, coming down from the gazebo into the garden was broken.
To the right, it is still missing its fulcrum on the left (only a brick) and right. This was on May 16, 2021.
Notice to the top left how the underside of the gazebo used to be white...
And yes, we removed all the boxwoods as they'd become rather lanky after 30 years.
When Pieter took this photo on January 9, of course, Spooky boy wanted to go with him.
Here the left and right fulcrums are clearly visible and the underpart is in Benjamin Moore Golden Mist, just like our home.
To the left you also see a brick for support, just in case...
Pieter took this photo from the side and back of our freshly painted home.
Taken on January 9, as well.
You can see where the newly DOORBRIM added (next to the chimney is visible ←click on link).
This photo shows more of the area to the left, where the retainer wall curves alongside our driveway.
Pieter did paint the retainer wall himself, after we had the fiberglass window boxes removed and placed inside the garage, out of the way for ladders and such.
You also see the bare spot where the huge live oak tree once stood near the chimney.
We got that first done...
This photo got taken on January 17, from the neighbor's lot over our vinyl picket fence.
The Japanese magnolia is already opening its buds; two are fully open!
And that with frost coming our way this week...
Both of us are so happy to have this mega task once more DONE!
It took forever till January 6, as it was raining on and off.
Yesterday, January 19, EXCEED Wash Solutions LLC cleaned the tiled patio near the Rose Suite entrance as well as the Rose Arbor.
You also can see the newly added DOORBRIM above Rose Suite's entrance door, see previous post below.
The Rose Stepping Stones got repainted by Pieter and are ready to be laid, once we have grass growing where the huge live oak tree once was.
Also yesterday, EXCEED Wash Solutions LLC cleaned our driveway as there were marks from the heavy equipment, used by the crew from đŸŒłBUCKEYE PREFERRED SERVICES LLC when cutting down and trimming our trees.
The orange cord visible, is from two long extension cords connected for Pieter being able to work on the underbrush with his electric chain saw, alongside the creek in our wood garden.
Looking neat and clean, all the way to the road.
This is our majestic Magnolia Namnetensis Flore Pleno to the right.
EXCEED Wash Solutions LLC also took care of our garage tiles.
So all the signs from different mega tasks have been 'erased' and the Vedder Estate looks nice!
Pieter's electric chain saw is visible in his hand wagon.

{Our Gazebo in Summer}

As a Mid-Week photo I love to show you our Gazebo in Summer...
The light is playing through our dogwood and also the Vintage Woodworks ginger bread looks like wooden lace...
Not very visible here but the Aged Copper Aluminum Slate Roof from Interlock Metal Roofing is something we still are very pleased with!
Together with our Balcony, it makes for a favorite spot to enjoy tea, lunch, supper or even breakfast!
The view of the pond and over the garden makes it just perfect.
Enjoy your day; wherever you are!

{Our Patio Tiles in the Front}

When I did post about our Bay Window area's Patio Tiles, I did not show you the Front of our Home. So today I show you that part as well.
Our Pot Plants on the Patio are small in number; but growing!
Again the Benjamin Moore paint in Golden Mist against the Sunset tiles that we used for the Patio.
You also get to see part of the Vintage Woodworks spindles, gingerbread and Fleur de Lys trim on the gable of the house.
Photos are from April 10, still no leaves on our Hibiscus syriacus Jeanne D'Arc. You find link below post...
The tile men also put CERDOMUS ceramiche Italian tiles that were left over from our balcony, on the stairs since some of the bricks got chipped.
Our Black Gum Nyssa Sylvatica  - a Wildlife Friendly Shade Tree with flowers and berries is still bare as the leaves come very late.
You can see the Golden Live Oak 'Quercus Virginiana Grand View Gold' tot the right changing into its BEST color for the entire year.
Also the Red Japanese Maple (Acer Rubrum) next to it.
This photo also shows off the Interlock Metal Roofing in Aluminum Slate in Aged Copper color!
Guess by now we've completed our home!

{Dogwood Flowers Frame our Home & Gazebo}

When our Dogwood near the Gazebo is in full bloom, its Flowers literally do Frame our Home & Gazebo! Have a look at its magic. Photos were taken on April 3, before the heavy rain and thunderstorms of past Monday that did knock off all blossoms...
You see what I mean by 'Framing' our Home...
These photos also show the Gingerbread work from  Vintage Woodworks, like the Fleur de Lys trim under the gable.
The Benjamin Moore color Golden Mist for our Home stands out so pretty with those Dogwood Flowers!
Here I am actually standing inside our Gazebo, looking back at our Home.
No so far I did not regret the color choice; it blends in very nice with its surroundings!
However, such big trees create lots of shade...
You see those Pot-plants all lined up with our exotic jasmines?
From the stairs to our veranda, now looking toward the pond for showing the actual Dogwood tree and our Gazebo.
Against the sunlight it gives such a striking view.
The suet blocks for the birds are hanging down from our Holly tree...
Our cat-boy Barty is in front of the gazebo.
We also are very pleased with our Interlock Aluminum Aged Copper Slate Roofing by Interlock Metal Roofing.
That was it; an insight of our Spring in Georgia when the Dogwoods bloom.
Thanks for your visit and hope you enjoyed it!

{Our Gazebo with Chair Cushions}

On August 29, the day that it was exactly 30 years ago that we immigrated to the USA, from The Netherlands, we did have a mud-free gazebo with the washed concrete tile path and entrance being cleaned by husband Pieter. We felt confident that we will have no more tropical thunderstorms changing our outlook. So finally an entire lovely, sunny week with sunshine and lower humidity and also some wind. Perfect for drying out!
It was on July 8, that I wrote my post about {WHAT is THIS?} when I had rescued our gazebo's cushions.
Link you find below this post, for those that missed it...
Here they are!
On July 12, they had their 15th birthday but we could not use them yet with all our flash flood warnings and reality.
We forgot to place the table back in the center of the gazebo... I saw this only after I uploaded my photos!
Guess we both were too excited of finally being able to use our gazebo!
Our gazebo got a new aluminum roof from Interlock Roofing as well.
We did place a new fan from Wayfair after the painters had finished their painting job here as well.
They did such a meticulous job with their two coatings of Benjamin Moore paint!
This Westinghouse Lighting 30" Wengue 3 Blade Ceiling Fan, has an incredible 18 degrees blade pitch!
It is in Chrome with Wengue Beech Blades.
Stepping back, towards the house...
The Vintage Woodworks ginger bread in the top part is adding such charm.
So does the Aluminum Slate roof in Aged Copper from Interlock Metal Roofing!
This is with the steps in the back, since we live on a slope. The house is now visible to the left.
There is a little patio at the landing of the steps...
Enjoying our tea together!
With a rice cake and some unsalted mixed nuts...
The container in the back is where we store those cushions and the top table cloth.
There is a round vinyl tablecloth with elastic underneath. Easy to wipe clean with moist wipes from Costco.
So finally you got to see the cushions in our gazebo!
Wearing my precious 925 silver rose ring (lost that in April of 2019...) and you see the vase with rain lilies with perfect rose bud in silver!
