Here I would love to share with you our travels and adventures as international mushroom consultants. MEMOIRS about husband Pieter Vedder, who was a SCIENTIFIC PIONEER in Mushroom Cultivation Education. {Our Patio Tiles Are DONE!}

Yep, our glazed ceramic tiles in Sunset are all done! So here is the result at our bay window area.
Photo is from April 3, with beautiful weather and our dogwood tree in front of the gazebo blooming.
Also the ginger bread from Vintage Woodworks stands out here.
The tiles got laid just in time before the rain started...
Lovely light... Trees with their new leaves unfolding in all shapes of green.
Catkins from the tall oak are falling off.
Here you can see the slanted patio when you look at the bricks of the stair case.
This is as part of our water control, to lead all the gutter overflow and the water from the sky away from the house via the gutter at the patio's end.
Different angle and showing more of our Fiberglass Window Boxes with white petunias.
Sunny and the hummingbird feeder is filled up again.
Another mini patio on top of the concrete that Pieter poured himself, where once the gas tank resided.
The tank is now to the left and this looks a lot friendlier with all the potted tropical jasmines.
They seem to have survived that last winter freeze...
Now waiting for their blooms.
Rose Stepping Stones lead to these planters that husband Pieter has all painted over, as they had faded away. They too have rose reliefs all over!
Do you like the patio parts?

{RARE Icicles in Our Garden}

For Central Georgia it is quite rare to see Icicles but today, January 29, we did have lots of them. Our trees were hanging down under the heavy weight. So please come with me on a tour to see the Icicles in Our Garden...
This photo is showing our iced gazebo roof through the icicles that hang from our Drake Elm - Ulmus parvifolia.
To the left you see the Rose Stepping Stones...
Two new Rose Stepping Stones in weathered bronze are still waiting to be placed.
The table and chairs in front of our Rose Suite, on the little patio, are covered with ice as well...
The fronds of our Palm Tree are full of ice too.
Icicles hanging down from our Golden Live Oak 'Quercus Virginiana Grand View Gold'
Our Fragrant Magnolia Grandiflora 'Namnetensis Flore Pleno' with iced leaves...
Icicles on our Castanopsis cuspidata--Japanese Chinquapin
Our Cedrus Deodara or Cedar Rose Tree with big frozen teardrops hanging down on it.
Buds of our Our Japanese Somei Yoshino Cherry with icicles hanging down...
Our Sky Pencils - Ilex crenata Japanese holly with ice on the red polished beach pebbles...
Closeup of the red polished beach pebbles on ice on top of an Eco Friendly Tree Ring from recycled rubber.
So much for the 2014 Ice Storm in the South...
Stay warm and safe wherever you are!

{Moving Our LPG Gas Tank}

After our exterior got painted, there was one disturbing factor and that was the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) Tank for our artificial gas logs in the fire place... So we decided to move it out of the way!
Don't you agree that it was disturbing here? Wrong color and just an ugly sight...
Below this post you can see two links from previous post where you get to see the LPG Gas Tank as it still was matching with the rest...
Husband Pieter started with pouring a concrete platform in front of the chimney.
There the LPG Gas Tank will blend in far better!
Bags of concrete were hauled in my 16 year old Toyota RAV4 and further action.
Platform in the making...
Without any equipment we moved the LPG Gas Tank off its old platform and onto the new one.
Rolling it over wooden poles, using planks and other wooden poles to push and lift.
Here it is still on its side...
And here we already put it upright on its new concrete platform.
Don't you think it is looking far better this way?
To the left you see the patio in front of our Rose Suite Entrance.
Also our Rose Stepping Stones you can see here.
Total picture with the Rose Suite Patio showing also.
Stepping further back towards the big Live Oak Tree and you see the Rose Stepping Stones.
All our Jasmine plants...
Now the Jasmines are on the former LPG Gas Tank's concrete platform...
Here you have a better over view.
So what do you think; an improvement or not?

{GNOMES and Rose Stepping Stones}

As promised in my previous blog, I will tell you more about our GNOMES! Also about our Rose Stepping Stones... Glad to know now, that I am not alone having to deal with difficult to reach windows for cleaning. As read in all the comments. Well, this is a chore that is not done very often but once in a while we have to tackle it. And thanks for the well wishes about my sciatica. It did go away after a couple of days. A hot tub and staying inside, that means, staying 'dry' did cure it.
But now about our GNOMES... As I wrote already about them, they are LAZY as hell! Really, they don't care at all. You have met them in a previous post about: HEAR - SEE - SPEAK NO EVIL. Well, that is great but if they are needed for pitching in and doing some 'little' chores, they DO NOT HEAR! So what do I do? The link to the previous posts you will find below the last photo.
It gets even worse than NOT wanting to HEAR. We received one more GNOME from our German 'son and daughter-in-law' (yes, we have more adopted children...) and grandchildren. This fellow looks cute but have a look at him:
He lies on this wall and is too lazy to even climb down!
He could, if he is careful but no: he lifts his legs and 'FARTS' at us when asked to help with little chores...
What do you say, how would you handle that?
The other three stand there and dance; YES they bounce around on that wall, they are wobbly DWARFS or WACKELZWERGEN.
I did not HEAR you; I did not SEE you... I don't SAY anything about the big one farting at you!
Is this common for this time or is it only here that they show such behavior?
PLEASE let me know what you are encountering with your GNOMES.
I just cannot stand anything THAT LAZY...! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Maybe our boot scraper dachshund will get them!
This is our Patio with the private entrance door to our Rose Suite...
Okay, let's forget about them!
Do you see those weathered bronze Rose Stepping Stones to the right of the patio?
They are made of cast stone and we got them from Home Depot.
First we had them in a single row, shown here (before that last GNOME arrived in the mail...) Grrrrrrrrrrr
This photo is from May.
In a previous post I've shown already the Rose Stepping Stones, see link below...
Our cat-man Spooky is not LAZY and you see him here inspecting Pieter's painting job in the weathered bronze color.
A clear coating sprayed on, makes them really shine.
Now we can reach the gazebo as well as the planters with jasmines without soiling our shoes.
Under the huge live oak tree the grass is not growing due to the shade and to the lack of nutrients and water, that the tree takes away.

{ROSE STEPPING STONES}

Today I learned first hand that roses do have thorns as well...
My true love Pieter had a heart attack and needs a quadruple bypass surgery + stent placed in his neck... please keep him in your prayers.
Our best friend is picking up the friends from The Netherlands that are in Atlanta at the airport now.
Hope they find each other and for the rest it will be just STEPPING STONES

These are in our garden near Oma's Roses {3 Most Prized Roses; from my Paternal Grandmother}...
I'll go to the hospital now, he's being transported from the local hospital right now in the ambulance.
