R.I.P. Sweet Speckie Girl

0n January 8 of 2010, my Pieter drove all the way from Atlanta where we stayed at the Hyatt Place, to Waynesville in North Carolina... It was icy when we arrived and with snow on the ground.
Had to be very careful on my crutches...
January 26 of 2010 our new tuxedo kitty girl Speckie
Yes, this was our mountain tuxie!
She rode home inside a carton box, on my knees, while Pieter did all the driving as I was on crutches and in pain, without any muscle power...
It took us nearly 5 hours to reach home and we both were too tired for introducing Speckie to the rest of the kitties.
So I stayed with her in the Rose Suite downstairs.
Next day, on January 9 of 2010, I ended up in the hospital due to being almost totally paralyzed.
January 26  of 2010, showing her stunning whiskers and eyebrows...
Jan 26 of 2010, her white underbelly and booties while on her windowsill pillow in the kitchen.
June 28, 2010, Speckie outside after she got spayed...
She also wore short white gloves.
July 27 of 2010, Speckie and Dido on my lap at breakfast time...
Both are Angels now!

Fall of 2012, our feisty Speckie girl found a bluish snake...
A cute bluish snake... Don't know what it is—any idea?

Mami why did you capture my MOUTH?
On August 4, 2017 Speckie confronted me in front of my iMac: Mami, you don't go away AGAIN?!
We just got back from our trip to Miami, visiting friends and our stay at the Hyatt House, Miami Airport.

Our kitties always help us with that!

Speckie is now again with her mentor Barty boy, who taught her everything when I was paralyzed and in the hospital. R.I.P. Sweet Barty Boy ←click link

Speckie died because of kidney problems... She rallied several times after getting some steroid shots to perk her up. Her breathing got worse and worse.
So today, after I went to Mass and picked up Pieter from Rotary lunch, we both went back with Speckie inside the basket pet carrier.
We both agreed that she did not have to suffer more... she had not eaten for over a week.
Around 2:00 PM she became an Angel and I was petting her and talking to her and her Papi sat on a chair near her...
Never easy but this was the best after having had her for 14 years and some days.
We LOVED her and her siblings by adoption LOVED her, she was an easy kitty.

  4. Mariette, Pieter, I am deeply sorry. Terribly so. I know how you both love Speckie. All of your little ones. Speckie, fly freely and play with all your siblings and all the other kitties you know. Remember your Mami and Papi's great love and care for you. I send you love, precious beautiful girl. I will miss you. Your Mami and Papi will miss you terribly as they do all the babies.

Yes, a very heavy and sad day... but it was the best to let her go and stop her fighting. She barely could breath and when she received her sedation + shot, she was forced on her side. She could not breath and kind of wrestled and Amanda thought she had a stroke... It breaks your heart and I hope she heard my voice and felt my strokes!

Yes, very sad times for our family... it is shrinking way too fast!
The memories will last forever but I miss seeing her walk into the bathroom for cuddles and scritchies during the night—even when she was so sick herself.
She often slept beside me on the down duvet, making me do acrobatics for getting out from underneath for not wanting to push her away...
We love our fur babies for as long as we're granted time to have them! And they love us...

  26. You are undertaking the long journey through grief. While others may share that grief we all walk it alone. There are no right or wrong paths, no proper way to carry oneself, no set amount of time to complete it. Some steps will come easier than others. There will be rogue waves of grief that you won’t see coming, and knock you back days. But you will come through it. If you get lost let us know. We have been through it before and we might be able to help you find the way out.

  46. When a soul leaves its mortal body, it is lifted by the wind unseen by adult human eyes, which have been cleared of the ability to experience magic. The soul floats to the nearest river, then rides the current until it enters the River of Life, which gently carries the soul to Rainbow Bridge. The new angel emerges from the water, having discarded all the pain and sorrow of mortal life (often transferred to those mortals nearest to them,). The soul then crosses the River of Life via the Rainbow Bridge and is reunited with their predecessors who loved them while they were mortal; then, a glorious reunion takes place. Their predecessors teach the new angel how to dream visit, to inhibit the bodies of furry and winged creatures so the angel can watch over their loved ones. So, if you see a bird or little animal watching you, or wake up from a dream feeling light of heart, know your angel has been with you. Death is not the end, it's a temporary separation, and if you never stop loving the angel, you will be together again in a place called Rainbow Bridge

  49. Oh! I am sorry. You will miss her so, I know. You gave her the most beautiful life. I had a cat that resembled Speckle. We called her Mittens.

  51. So sorry about the loss of sweet Speckie. Kidney disease is such a devastating sickness in cats. Our Fluffy also died with kidney disease and he lost so much weight :( We are lucky to have such great memories with them. Big hug Mariette

  57. Hola, Mariette.

      Abrazos,
      Mariette

  58. I am sure I left a comment about Spekie! I am so sorry! I am also sorry to hear about your Kidneys. How frustrating. Having lupus myselft, I hate that my body doesn't want to do the things I want it to do. I felt this more than ever in Costa Rica when my body just couldn't do some of the things I wanted to do.

You have been so busy—no sorry necessary here!
It is not easy dealing with health issues like yours or mine, or even of our beloved pets as they too are not exempted.
