{Table Setting for Friends}

Saturday evening, we had a dinner for six friends at our home. Just like to share with you my table setting. From husband Pieter, I had a dozen white roses and in our garden we just found enough Fragrant double Obdam narcissus for putting in the individual Delft white picture frames, as a place setting. We had heavy rain on Saturday but inside it was cozy.
  • Real Wax Carved Rose tea lights (battery operated Flameless Candles) in white, when lit they look yellowish.
  • White ceramic roses as center piece, together with the Baccarat Harcourt pitcher with real white roses.
  • You can see this Baccarat Harcourt pitcher in a previous post, see link below.

  • Gumbo Soup spoon is Bridal Rose by Alvin and other flatware is my Gero Zilmeta 528 Menuet.
  • Baccarat Piccadilly stemware.
  • French Pillivuyt charger...
  • Le Jacquard Français tablecloth.

  • Table got set for 8 of us.
  • Before I placed a fork to the left of this plate, I took the photo...
  • Don't you like to have cozy dinners with friends when the weather is cold, windy and rainy?

{SUNSHINE as a Perfect Birthday Gift}

My Birthday was a very happy day and it was full of SUNSHINE. That made it already a Perfect Birthday Gift, considering the dreary, cold and rainy day that followed... Our foster-daughter Anita in Indonesia did Skype us via video call before breakfast time; that was a nice gift to see her beautiful face and smile in front of us. When we were reading our mail and had a cup of coffee with chocolate, our Liz called from Rotterdam in The Netherlands. With the iPhone in front of us, we could again chat via Skype video call. How times have changed for the better in communication! Lots of phone calls from family and friends. We also did go outside and I did snip off our only two Ehrlicheer daffodils that were blooming. We have almost no daffodil blooms this year; very sad... only leaves but no buds. But at least one Baccarat  perfume bottle could be filled with them, together with the two from a previous day.
Happy at the dinner table with friends...
Happy with daughter Anita calling via Skype video before breakfast...
Happy with daughter Liz making a Skype video call and her singing happy birthday together with her Dad...
We started off with some Fog in the early morning but the forecast was excellent.
By 2:29 PM it was 78°F or 25°C Real Feel ~ what a Birthday gift with lots of SUNSHINE...
See the BLUE SKY? Smelling my two stems of Ehrlicheer daffodils; they are so fragrant!
Wearing my Escada jeans and Escada cotton cropped black sweater.
Also Escada shoes...
Frontal view of 62 year old me...
Happy day!
In-between telephone calls and such, I did manage to make some Tom Yam Koeng Thai soup with fresh Georgia shrimps and served with brown rice as a full meal.
Tiramisu for dessert with coffee...
Using my French Le Jacquard Français placemats and napkins and Baccarat crystal.
French Gien Rose soup bowls with Alvin Bridal Rose gumbo spoons...
Happily eating some of my tiramisu... sugar for a Birthday is allowed!
It felt great to be with dear friends at table...
Grateful for another year being added!

{Parcel from High Heeled Life}

It is a special feast when the mailman unexpectedly delivers a parcel. Anxiously opening up and unwrapping some sweets from Celia M. High Heeled Life & Resilientista, the author of the blog High Heeled Life in the Country. How exciting to find cookies from our birth country...
A box with Dutch Daelmans Stroopwafels: Caramel Wafers or Coffee warmers.
So I did make us a Cappuccino, using our new Capresso FrothPRO.
We found our Capresso FrothPRO at Tuesday Morning in Atlanta.
Of course topping it off with Dutch Droste cocoa, using my Birkmann Cappuccino Schablonen from Germany, with two hearts.
More sweets: Milk chocolate filled with hazelnut bonbons...
Celia's own label...
Indeed: Nut Dream
THANKS again Celia and Mr. G. This was such a sweet surprise!
So we did indulge in some delicious cappuccino with sweets. There was still a vegan chocolate rose left over. Pieter LOVES the Dutch Stroopwafels/Caramel Wafers.
Using my Wedgwood cream color on cream color china.
Those bonbons look so elegant in that box with golden ribbon...
French 4 inch paper doily under cup, on saucer.
French Baccarat crystal vase with our own roses. All came together just perfect.
Look at those hazelnut bonbons; like roses too...
This perfect red rose got real emotional when facing those rose bonbons.
It shed a tear...
French Le Jacquard Français table linens in a rose damask pattern of course.
Those woven damask roses do resemble a true rose.
Pure bliss, so romantic and delicious!
Celia did also include some special tea but I will show that another time.
Hope you enjoyed this as much as we did.
Do you also like to eat chocolate roses?
Have you ever tasted the Dutch Stroopwafers?

{Our Organdy Beribboned, Porcelain and Brass Easter Eggs}

Several years ago I did make these yellow and salmon colored organdy ribbons for use at Easter time. Combining white and brown eggs, creates a perfect beribboned presentation.
They make for a nice display on a special egg platter.
Daffodil season is long over so we could not fill our porcelain egg-vases from Villeroy & Boch, like we could in 2010.
Villeroy & Boch ←(click it) porcelain egg-vases that my sister Diny, ordered for me in The Netherlands after I found them in a magazine. They are so lovely when filled with fresh flowers!
Those egg-vases make a pretty table decoration during Easter Season.
Shown here on Le Jacquard Français table linen from France.
Just right click the hyperlink.
From Germany I got these Lacquered Brass window decorations in egg shapes.
For my German readers, click next: Jech Kunstgewerbe to go to Jech Kunstgewerbe's site, who is producing and selling them.
Wishing all of you a very Happy Easter weekend!

{Delft White Picture Frame Vase}

  • As promised yesterday, here is the Delft White Picture Frame Vase for you to see in a better view.
  • In the mid 80s when I did import these cute Keraflor vases from Steenbok, in Reuver, The Netherlands, they were probably the hottest item I ever sold!
  • It took some fast action for securing 6 for myself as I planned on using them for personal place settings at table. That too has always been a success.
  • This is he small individual picture frame vase with Ranunculus - Persian buttercups.
  • Placemats are Le Jacquard Français

  • Now you can see the actual opening of the 'vase'...

  • Here you view it from the back side with the Keraflor mark.
  • It is a very clever vase!

  • You can fill the vase with water or with florist foam.

  • So that's how a picture frame vase looks like!
