{New York Stock Exchange}

On August 28, 2015 we did the New York See It All Tour, with OnBoard Tours.  Of course we also made a stop on Wall Street, the historic area in lower Manhattan. 

We were walking to the impressive building of the New York Stock Exchange.

NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE

Same entrance as in photo above but now I've stepped back.

The building has two facades.

Front facade of The New York Stock Exchange with its 6 tall Corinthian columns.

The building seems to have been inspired by the Roman Pantheon.

In the center we see the symbolic statuary of Integrity Protecting the Works of Man, above the New York Stock Exchange frieze.

High relief symbolic figures of which the largest statue as a 'classically robed female figure' called 'Integrity,' who 'stretches both of her arms outward with clenched fists.' A symbol of honesty and sincerity, Integrity, standing on her own pedestal, dominates the center of the 16 ft. high pediment.

The 110 ft. wide pediment contains eleven figures, including the centerpiece figure. 

Integrity protects the 'works of man,' including figures symbolizing Science, Industry,  Agriculture, Mining, and a figure that represents 'Realizing Intelligence.'

The statuary was designed by John Quincy Adams Ward (1830-1910) and Paul Wayland Bartlett (1865-1925).

{Trinity Church on Wall Street New York City}

Quite a historic building in New York City is Trinity Church on Wall Street!

Trinity Church got built in 1697 so it has over 300 years of history.

It indeed got erected at the head of Wall Street, facing the Hudson River

Sadly the original Church burned in 1776.

It was very hard to capture this tall building and the shade from the surrounding made it even harder.

Sure, the last century quite a number of tall office buildings surrounded this once, tallest building!

{Empire State Building New York City}

On August 29, 2015 we both did walk from our Hyatt Place New York/Midtown-South to 33rd St. for a close view of the Empire State Building in New York City.

Oh my, bending backwards for trying to capture all 102 stories of this world famous sky scraper is hard!

It is 1,454 feet or 443 meters tall!

It is really incredible such a height!

On May 1st in 1931 it got officially opened...

The day before, we already had viewed it from Madison Square Park...

All the way from the corner of 5th Avenue and E 26th at Madison Square Park I tried to zoom in a bit.

This photo is taken from the corner of Liberty Street and Nassau Street with a great view of the Empire State Building.
