Crocheted Table Topper for layering with linen table cloth...
Yes, that is one more item I did hand crochet. My Mom had used to have a stash of Dutch, Durable cotton and I did purchase quite some skeins from her.
You see it right; there is a PEACH in that fruit bowl with some Bosc pears... even in mid-winter!
A nice table setting for three.
Crocheted from an Aarlan magazine, with obviously nicer thread that had a pretty sheen...

Funny that I could almost copy-cat everything in the above photo...
My white octagonal Seltmann Weiden Mirabell china from Germany.
French Baccarat Piccadilly, narrow and somewhat wider champagne flutes.
Dutch Gero Zilmeta Menuet 528 flatware.
Creamware Fluted Salad bowl made in Leeds, England by Hartley Greens & Co., famous since 1770.
Available at: Williamsburg Marketplace
The Evil Eye from Turkey is adding some blue...
it's very pretty, mariette!
ReplyDeleteDearest Theresa,
DeleteThank you and I got so lucky for having enough light in winter to make these photos!
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh sweet friend you are also talented with your hands! Very pretty and I love to place things like that in a triangle fashion in tables. Again, I love your wedding dishes, gorgeous! Your table is elegant and a much better copy cat!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
FABBY
Dearest Fabby,
DeleteThank you for your sweet compliment; coming from the Table-Setting Queen that means the world to me!
Funny, I still love those octagonal white plates from my wedding china, they are German and I never tire of them.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful. My mom is quite the expert. She has done beautiful patterns and really nice centerpiece. I was able to get one for our table...but I don't use it much because of the little children. I can do simple patterns, but haven't done it in a while. The table setting is very elegant and inviting.
ReplyDeleteDearest Daniela,
DeleteThank you and for sure your Mom can create lovely pieces by hand. When you have little ones you just have to hold on till they are grown up a bit more as it takes quite some time and effort for cleaning such table linens.
Sending you hugs and blessings,
Mariette
Deaerst Mariette,
ReplyDeleteyour crotched Table Topper is wonderful! I love this pattern, it looks beautiful!
You did a wonderful job! And you always do such a pretty table-setting!
Have a wonderful week and take care,
Love and hugs,
Claudia
Dearest Claudia,
DeleteA very simple crochet pattern in a star motive and yet it can create something very special. This time it just worked out well with having almost everything at hand.
Hugs,
Mariette

ReplyDeletedas ist wiederum sehr hübsch.

Elisabeth
Liebe Elisabeth,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, You call it a simple pattern, but I am enormously impressed with your handwork here, so evenly and beautifully crafted. I would be afraid to expose such a labor of love to the risk of use serving food--adults are just as capable of spilling things as are children!
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteThank you but often it is the simplicity that let's things stand out; less is more. I've been blessed for having learned a perfect even hand from my dear Mom who was quite an artist in this.
Oh yes, spilling is often a major problem and believe me that in our laundry room I'm well equipped for tackling that too; all part of life...
Kindest regards,
Mariette

Liefs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette....Such a pretty table topper. How delightful that you could recreate the photo.
ReplyDeleteIt's reminds me of my sister who could look at a photo and copy and clothing. Her best was the copy of the very expensive picture of a gown she made for her daughter's wedding dress.
Dearest Suzi,
DeleteThank you, it is fun for copying after just a photo and yes, I've done similar things as your sister did when I had to create long dresses for brides maids. I've only made my own simple wedding dress...
Hugs,
Mariette

My dear friend Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour crocheted table topper is so beautiful and elegant, your table setting looks amazing, almost the same as the other picture, but yours is better in my opinion, because your french window as background adds light and everything looks more cozy, it feels like home. You are very talented, my dear friend.
I send you a big hug with lots of love
Laura <3
Dearest Laura,
DeleteThank you for your meaningful and kind comment here. Indeed, a window as lookout into real life does add something to a photo. Even in winter but our white pansies are blooming at their best.
Sending you love and blessings and stay warm!
Mariette
Oh, I admire people who do these lovely crocheted pieces. Yours is beautiful. And your copy-cat setting is even prettier than the original!

Liebe Ruth,

You have indeed perfectly recreated the beautiful table setting with your precious china and champagne flutes. Well done!!!!
Many hugs!!
Dearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteThank you dear, and simple things often make the best presentation in the end.
Sending you also many warm hugs back across the ocean,
Mariette
Dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour crocheted table cloth is lovely with your beautiful dinnerware and crystal. How fun to replicate the magazine photo so well! It is extra special with the cotton from your Dear Mother. So nice to have the fresh peaches and tropical fruit to enjoy this time of year.
Hugs xo
Karen
Dearest Karen,
DeleteThank you very much; just simple with also simple octagonal white dinnerware but I always liked it. Mom had such an enormous stash of cotton in the 80s that I did purchase lots of her to help her out. Have sold numerous doilies and such at Craft Sales that I made from Mom's cotton stash. She had different colors.
Oh when I spotted that peach here in Georgia at the supermarket I could not believe it. Wonder where it came from...?
Hugs,
Mariette
Staat erg mooi op de tafel Mariette. Ik houd van een persoonlijk tintje. Bon appétit!
ReplyDeleteJanny
Beste Janny,

Have a Great Day, Dear friend. Lots of Love and Hugs and Night Night from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Miyako,
DeleteThank you for your kind words. Indeed, with the simple elegant setting that blue is literally 'eye catching!'
Such crochet work is very easy and simple, just repeating that simple star.
Hope you have a great night sleep, here it is morning again.
Hugs,
Mariette
Complimenti cara, complimenti davvero. Paola
