Are you already aware of the great benefits of using CHIA seeds in your daily diet? Use CHIA for Iron Boost and it is also Good for Blood Sugar Level. That are two big reasons for me to embrace these powerful seeds! Being Diabetes type 2 and also having had on and off bouts of anemia, sure made CHIA a permanent item in our kitchen! Are you using it too?
CHIA seeds can be used in a number of ways. Here I added it to some cole slaw, together with dried cranberries and a dressing of Trader Joe's reduced fat mayonaise with some brown rice vinegar and CHIA Seeds. You can find below post a link from previous post with photos of this mayonaise.
Daily we both add CHIA Seeds to our Trader Joe's 0% Greek Yogurt with some fresh fruits. Chia seeds work gelatinous so keep that in mind when adding to certain dishes. Best is to do it right before being served.
So again, I did reveal another Secret for my size and weight...

How interesting and informative! I have to find out if there is Chia seeds sold here, as Alejandro and me are very good at doing healthy food and things like sedes, and nuts, etc. I'm still in awe of it's goodness. I'm copying this and will let you know if I found them here. Thank you so much for your support lovely lady, you are so wonderful and soo very generous with me, a true friend!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely and blessed week ahead and yes, I will pray for your Leprosy cause. Who knew there were places were it's still rampant!
Hugs,
FABBY
Dearest Fabby,
DeleteSo sorry to see that my comment got lost due to Internet problems...
Trying again to reply. My guess is that you will find those Chia seeds in your area as well, they do exist a couple of years already. Thank you for your kind words and prayers for the Leprosy cause is greatly appreciated. Wish more people would think about them and prayer is the least one can do. Also informing others and making it known to the world that Leprosy is still around.
Hugs,
Mariette
I don't eat chia every day but I do eat it quite often! It is indeed very good for you.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well dear Mariette!
xo Catherine
Dearest Catherine,
DeleteIt is one of those little pillars for good health!
Yes, I'm doing very well. Believe it or not, we had 22°C this afternoon; we walked in the sunshine.
My Internet is not working well... that's annoying!
Hugs,
Mariette
Excelente informação....
ReplyDeleteCumprimentos
Dearest Fernando,
DeleteThank you and enjoy your new week!
Mariette
Yes I use Chia seeds although no every day. May be I should step it up.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kay,
DeleteGuess it would work best indeed for stepping it up! Consistency is alway an important factor for whatever we do in life.

Liebe Elisabeth,
DeleteJa ihr habt auch bestimmt CHIA in Deutschland!
Lieber Gruss,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, I am looking forward to experimenting with chia seeds my next trip home. If I like them, I can bring some back here. We really need a Trader Joe's in Taiwan!
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteWould be great if you could find them in Taiwan since we are so limited in bringing things back in a suitcase. Paying dearly for the 2nd suitcase. Times have changed and not for the better, courtesy has almost evaporated... Too many obese people and the airlines punish ALL passengers for that by restricting baggage allowance. Not a fair trade!
Happy February week to you.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteWhat interesting information about Chia seeds. I noticed them when on the Bob's Red Mill shelf when I was in our local Job Lot (A local discount place that has wholesale agreements with many manufacturers.)
I am afraid I have been still been thinking of them as those ubiquitous Chia Pets.
It's snowing here; yesterday it was in the high 40'sF. This is New /england after all!
Dearest Suzi,
DeleteThose Chia Pets do sprout the Slavia Hispanica; same thing! But it is a great seed for our health. Good for you to have such a Job Lot, guess it will be similar to our Big Lots and it is amazing at times what you find on their shelves.
Stay well and warm and enjoy this February week!
Hugs,
Mariette
Salvia Hispanica of course...
DeleteDear Mariette, very interesting post about the Chia seeds !I do'nt know if i can found them here!It really looks healthy!Wish you a lovely new week!Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDimi...
Dearest Dimi,
DeleteIt is a worthwhile seed for trying to locate at your stores or maybe you find it on line.
Wishing you too a lovely new week!
Hugs,
Mariette
Dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your always kind and considerate comments! You are a very sweet lady! I heard about the seeds. They are very popular in Holland too. Friends of mine use them as well, but so far I haven't used them myself. Next time I spot them on the shelve in the supermarket I will take a pack home with me.
Wishing you a Happy week!
Madelief x
Dearest Madelief,
DeleteYes, one blogger friend did mention their availability in The Netherlands and they certainly are a great health ingredient for adding to our daily diet.
You are quite welcome about considerate commenting. It depends mainly on having read the message well enough for doing so...
Hugs to you and wishing you a happy February week.
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
Liefs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteit looks like black sesame seeds, is it the same?
I´ve never heard of chia seeds..
Yes, we drive Saab, both of us. For ever and ever, haha.
Television (CNN) showed snowstorms in Atlanta, I hope it didn't hit you.
I wish you a pleasant journey and I´m waiting excitedly for Barbie.
Hugs to you and your husband.
Astrid
Dearest Astrid,
DeleteNo, this is not the same as sesame seeds. You can get them in Sweden, just google it and you will find out and maybe at wholsale or large supermarkets you find them too.
It is from the Maya's and actually these are seeds from the Salvia Hispanica!
Don't worry, we are still some 2-½ hours south of Atlanta and we only had the ice... no snow. But Atlanta was a disaster; the airport cancelled most flights for those days as they are not equiped for de-icing the wings. Not even equiped for keeping the roads clear of ice and snow...
Now it is very mild but rain and gray...
It looks like at the same time you wrote this comment; I was printing the mailing label for your Barbie - telepathy!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
I am a fan of chia myself and use it often like daily often
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteGood for you as it is such a healthy antioxidant super food! Guess this is now available the world over.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette;
ReplyDeleteOh; I've never heard of this seed☆☆☆ I checked with pc and it said the name derived from Mayan language and it means "power". It seemed they had them with corn and bean like staple food. The page also introduced it as "super food", haha but skipped the antioxidant part. I don't think we can find them easily here (maybe just through pc). " Healthy Foods for a Healthy Soul"!!! I always learn things from you, my dear friend. Take Care and have a nice week ahead♪
Sending you lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Miyako,
DeleteThat is correct, it is a Mayan wisdom. For sure you will be able to get it also in Japan, you got a Costco Wholesale in your country and it is available in Australia so that is close.
Receive a big hug and lots of love too.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette, This is very helpful information. I couldn't use them but I can see where they would be so good for Bob. Thanks for the introduction.
ReplyDeleteLove to you, Ginger
Dearest Ginger,
DeleteThere are lots of health benefits to get from adding these to our daily diet. They're in our 0% fat Greek yogurt every day!

Mariette
I've never had CHIA seeds before and didn't know it has such health benefit! I only knew CHIA as decorative plant that I see on TV :-) Thank you for the information, Mariette!
ReplyDeleteDearest Tamago,
DeleteFunny that CHIA plant people know but the very same seeds, before they sprout, are so beneficial for our health. You are quite welcome, glad to share this!
Hugs,
Mariette
Liefs,
Mariette
I just started to use chia seeds in my green smoothies... great post and so informative... thank you as always for sharing such great info. hugs, C. (HHL)
ReplyDeleteDearest Celia,
DeleteGreat idea and I was thinking about your post with the green smoothie recipe: http://attitudeivlife.blogspot.com/2014/01/getting-off-to-healthy-start-in-2014.html
You actually had Chia seeds in the ingredient picture but not listed for the smoothie recipe.
Glad to share this with my readers!
Hugs,
Mariette
This is very interesting indeed, dear Mariette! Thank you for sharing! I had never heard about these seeds, I think... but they really sound like a very healthy choice! Not sure if they are easy to find here... have to check :)
ReplyDeleteHugs from the Alps :)
Dearest Anna,
DeleteChia seeds are available all over Europe so you will be able to find them no doubt.
Also for making smoothies in the blender, like Celia is doing, they work great.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
I have never tried Chia Seeds, Dear Mariette, but now I will be searching for them. They would be great in my morning smoothies! Thank you for sharing this important information. I do like to eat healthy!
ReplyDeleteHugs
xo Karen
Dearest Karen,
DeleteFor sure you will find them in your area, if not at Costco they are at several stores. Morning smoothies will work fine but keep in mind that they are gelatinous so you have to drink it right away or it will turn solid. Don't we all try to eat healthy?!
Hugs,
Mariette
Lieve Mariette,
Liefs,
Mariette
