Happy 90th Birthday dear Mom; you made it, regardless your kidney dialysis!

This photo I took on October 27, 2009 when we visited my Parents during our 62th trip to The Netherlands.
Don't have a more recent one of her yet.
This photo is from March 22, 1996 when Mom & Dad were here with us in the USA for about one month.
She was so happy with these photos where she only got her hair curled, her face powdered to make it less shiny and lipstick on. NOTHING ELSE!
When I gave her this photo in a silver frame, together with some others that were taken of her, she told me it was the best gift she ever received.
Dad could not get over the fact how good looking she was and when we had dinner at our friends' home, she was the star of the evening. All our friends found her looking so much younger than the previous visit in 1987.
Made me feel proud of course; and I still have my Mom!

Beautiful lady, no wonder her daughter is too, sweet Mariette!!! You are so blessed to still have her on this special birthday! Hope she has a wonderful new year of life and many more! I also hope I can have my mother around to be 90 as well.

Wat zal het een bijzondere dag zijn;-)
Je moeder is niet alleen een knappe vrouw maar ook een die de leeftijd der zeer sterken mag bereiken met haar negentig jaren.
Vast niet altijd even gemakkelijk in de laatste jaren met haar nierziekte en dialyse,ik heb in elk geval diep respect voor haar dat zij zich jaar in jaar uit hier doorheen weet te slaan,telkens weer die weg naar het ziekenhuis om te spoelen.Een groot voorbeeld voor anderen die al zuren en piepen bij het geringste ongemak.

DeleteDank je wel Ger; geloof maar dat ze deze dag met trots zal vieren en ze heeft er al zó lang naar uitgekeken.
Ze heeft net als ook haar eigen moeder, de leeftijd van de zeer sterken bereikt. Dat moeten wij nog waar zien te maken. En zeker, gezien haar nierziekte is het een hele prestatie en een volharding om die weg naar het ziekenhuis op 18 maart a.s. al zes jaar lang te maken...

Oh, the second photo signifies exactly what my Thai American friend always used to say: 'It is easy to look beautiful if you have an easy life...' Mom always worked very hard her entire life and seldom hat time for herself. When she stayed with us for four weeks, she got taken care of and pampered by her daughter and she looked so relaxed and beautiful. A very soft expression and to me that is a great reward for all what we did for them.

DeleteJa hè, en ook erg dierbare foto's voor mij omdat het plaatjes zijn van mooie momenten die zo vereeuwigd zijn. Die tweede foto is echt een stralende foto en ze heeft het gered om te doen wat die amerikaanse fotograaf verlanged van haar. Kijk zus, kijk zo, hand zo etc. Ik was best trots op haar!
Dank je wel en we zullen het goed vieren. Net thuis van de dialyse, waar ze de blog en ons huis etc. kon bekijken op mijn laptop.

Auch sie hat noch eine glatte Haut in diesem hohen Alter. - Es ist nicht leicht, wenn der Mensch so alt ist und an schweren Krankheiten leidet. Und für Dich ist es bestimmt auch schwer, so weit weg von Deiner Mutter zu sein und für Deine Mutter erst! Da kann man nicht mal eben sich ins Auto setzen und hinfahren.
Ich hoffe aber, Du konntest heute, an ihrem Geburtstag bei ihr sein.

DeleteJa sicher ist es schön dass meine Mutter es bis soweit, ohnehin mit ihre Gesundheitsproblem, doch geschafft hat! Leicht war es bestimmt nicht da das ganze Leben so verändert mit diese Dyalise und man kaum noch daheim sein kann oder irgendwo hingehen. Die persönliche Freiheit ist weg. Ja, deine Hoffnung ist Wirklichkeit und meine Mutter hat sich sehr gefreut über soviele Kommentare aus der ganzen Welt hier.

DeleteYou got a good point there, indeed actresses often have completely altered their 'natural' looks which will show once they age! Mom has been blessed for never having done much to her face's skin, neither abusing it by sun or tanning bed exposure. That too will show its toll at a much more mature age.

DeleteThank you so much for your compliments and birthday wishes for my Mom. She is a lovely and very dedicated, unselfish lady. Family always came first to her as well as helping my Dad out with the heavy work and long hours in the green houses and on the fields. She always did it; non-stop without much of a vacation, other than the short trips I took my Mom and Dad along on to Paris and to Germany.
She had a very special Birthday, regardless her usual Wednesday dialysis treatment. The staff at the hospital did treat her to lots of special honor and in return they received from my Dad a generous treatment to some delicious patisserie that he bought them and carried to the hospital. She also very much enjoyed all congrats in the many comments here! Thank you again!
