{Our Clematis lanuginosa 'Candida'}

For quite some years now we do have the pure white Clematis lanuginosa 'Candida' with its huge flowers. They can get as big as 9" across and put on quite a show! We used to have one climbing up on on one of the wooden posts in our front porch but we lost it. The one we have now is blooming in the shade, climbing up a tree. After the initial pictures of the flowers, you will get to see the huge vine full with blossoms. Several photos from both of us, posing in front of it in our front porch. Does anybody have this particular Clematis species? Or any other Clematis for that matter. They are such lovely vines.
Pure white with yellow anthers.
This particular leaf above is in a heart shape...
Some wire to initially support the vine for climbing up this tree.
We are again looking at a healthy vine.
This is the one that was climbing up against the wooden post in our front porch.
Silk linen Escada jeans.
A happy gardener/husband Pieter...
A proud gardener/husband Pieter as it grew even bigger...
This one in front of our house was quite a show-case!
Of course, I too was proud of this Clematis lanuginosa 'Candida'!
With a friend on Pieter's birthday...
We were so proud of this Clematis 'Lanuginosa Candida' and than we lost it...
Are you also sad if you lose some of your 'green' children?
Wearing my Escada jeans and jacket.
A favorite vine with lots of views...

  3. My dear Mariette; Your photos captured your Clematis lanuginosa 'Candida' brilliantly!! I'm so sad to read that it is gone. The one growing up the tree has some tough blooms to fill ..:) .... You and Pieter looked wonderful in your photos!! Love that last photo of you!

I have been thinking about adding Clematis to our side patio - we have a trellis wall that would be perfect for growing it. Seeing your Clematis, I think has convinced me to give them a try.

I'm finally getting more strength and looking forward to catching up. I did respond to your email and set another.

Sending you both warm hugs and blessings, xo HHL

  10. Ja ik vind het ook zo jammer als er planten dood gaan, vooral al ze al oud zijn. Bij ons is er veel bevroren afgelopen winter, sommige moet je helemaal terugsnoeien dan lopen ze toch weer uit.Zoals bijvoorbeeld onze olijfboom.

    Nogmaals groetjes Janny

  12. Dreadful- so upsetting isn't it.What's worse, I was weeding my front borders and I am planning to grow 2 clematis( ses? ) through the tree there, one purple and one red, and -o dear- I just weeded too rigourously and now there is very little left of the red one.I could have kicked myself!!
Have a good weekend dear Mariette!!
    Love to you

  16. Oh Mariette, what a beauty this was and it sure makes me sad to loose plants, especially if I love them, but also the "simple" lavender bushes that didn't survive the last winter made me feel so sorry...
You have such a stunninge place!

  18. Dear Mariette,
What a beauty she was. The pretties Clematis I have seen in White. I am so sorry you lost her. I would be sad as well. My mother could grow lovely and full Clematis like yours. I try and try but only get small blooms and leaves. It is the Texas heat and dry weather that doesn't help.

You and Pieter look beautiful standing with your lovely flower.
So glad you had a wonderful time and without the net. I will be without most of the week here as we started our vacation. In and around, day trips, company and to complete my studio with a few posts too. Can't wait to finish my redo. Have a wonderful weekend my friend.

Love to you as well, Celestina Marie
p.s. thank you for stopping by and your words always are an uplift.

How gorgeous and pretty your white Clematis was♡♡♡ Great pictures with them and memories for you. Yes, we were SO sad when we lost 2 pine trees by pine wilt disease (one gift from my parent and other from my gardener uncle). I loved the way you call 'green children'♬♬♬

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
