{Is BLOGLOVIN' Stealing Your Page Views}

Maybe you did not know about BLOGLOVIN' Stealing YOUR Page Views...?
But YES, they do!
When you do read blogs through the Bloglovin' RSS feed reader, you will notice that they do not collect each post but instead are directing you to the blog post in an iFrame for driving more traffic to their own website.
The page view does not register in Google Analytics, nor in the Blogger Statistics Tab!
This way we won't get credit for people reading our blogs...
BUT - CHANGE your settings!
Go to bloglovin.com/settings and click to the right of your profile photo
From the drop down window, select Settings
Scroll down to:
Make sure that you mark I don't want the frame instead of the choice above!
Click Save settings
You're all done!
You may want to share this with your readers as well, we all can help each other, instead of continuing with driving traffic to Bloglovin'!
Thank you for your time.
As of November 8, 2022 I have Removed the widget and also removed my account from Bloglovin' which resulted in immediately much higher page views!

Their widget did no longer work and I had lots of login problems.

{Your Pinterest Boards in Alphabetical Order}

Well, I hardly can say: 'Learn from Mariette', as this neat tip I learned from my baby-sister Gerd.
She also kind of motivated me to finally start my own Pinterest...
The button that brings you to it, you find at the top right on my blog.
Gerd told me that it is as easy as 1.2.3.
Let's start:
Open your account and click on boards, so you have them all in front of you.
Now Click on a board then drag and drop it to the place you want it.
Almost in its new spot...
DONE!
Keep repeating this till you got them all lined up alphabetical, which gives you a far better overview.
And above all, anyone else that will visit your boards on Pinterest!
Every time you do add a board, you still need to manually drag and drop it into its correct spot.
Only when you Pin something onto your own Pinterest boards, they show up alphabetical but NOT on the actual boards. That's something you accomplish by the simple drag and drop method.

Hope this was helpful for you as well.
You can thank my sister Gerd in your comments.

Meanwhile, Pinterest has added a very simple option for having boards from A to Z:
Just click on the sign at top left of all the Saved boards; select A to Z from the drop down list.
DONE!

{How to Install Your Own Flag Counter}

Per request from Italy, in one of the comments on my previous post about: {201 Countries Visited - Welcome Saint Barthelemy} - How to Install Your Own Flag Counter...
Just click on FlagCounter and follow example here below...
Be VERY careful to scroll down ALL THE WAY, the drop down window behind Maximum Flags to Show 250! That cannot be changed later - or you might risk losing all your flags.
I had that happen to me when I first put it on in April of 2010, but made that mistake...
On September 14, 2010, I had this and only 3 rows of flags...
In my new setting I did not want the Flag Labels be shown, making it more simple.
~
My new counter is from July 10, 2011.
You can select your own date for the window to show in: Label on Top of Counter and select custom.
A popup window will show, requesting your Email
You also can skip... and select Continue
Here you get the Code for websites (HTML) and you copy and paste it into your own blog.
If you ever want to enter your Flag Counter, just click on it anywhere and it will open with all the info for you.
GOOD LUCK!

{Can't get into ANY Blog nor Comment!}

Is there anyone else having the same problem with Blogger? I cannot see my own blog nor any other blog... NOT visit anybody NOR comment! Would like to get feedback from other bloggers on this. Funny enough, I can get into 'the back door' for editing but that's it! Uploading photos works only on Google Chrome.

Today, Thursday the 20th I had again the very same problem.
When I did unplug the power of my modem and restart, also rebooting my PC, it worked again!
Make sure to keep the URL of your Blog's design page handy because at all times that did work.
So you still can edit, post, upload photos or publish comments that is.

{TUTORIAL on how to Move your Google Reader to Bloglovin'}

THANK YOU so much for all the support over the past difficult days when we lost our feline SACHA GIRL!
♥♥
I feel like I ought to do something in return for my dear and loyal readers:

Most of you for sure have read the news that by July 1st, Google Reader will retire. So you better take care of it now; even though you will have a three month sunset period for finding an alternative feed-reading solution.
Importing your favorite blogs from Google Reader is just a snap and I will walk you through, so you don't have to worry about it any more. Feel free to pass this on to others as well!
On March 13, 2013 the announcement was made on Google Reader Blog.
You also best retain your Reader data through Google Takeout:
Okay, you start here: Google Takeout - just click this link.
That will land you here...
Click on CREATE ARCHIVE
Next, Click on Download...
You will have to sign in to your Google account...
Your zip folder will be created...
If you click on it, your Reader will show...
Clicking on Reader will show you all the data you just did Takeout.
Keep it safe on your PC!
If you want to export your Google Reader to e.g. Feedly, for those using WordPress or Gravatar you can do so via Feedly. I have done this also for you never know.
Now, let's go to the BLOGLOVIN'...
You need first to set up your BLOGLOVIN' account of course.
This originated in Sweden and I've been using it since January 22, 2011 and I also have their widget on my side bar. The French Eiffel Tower...
Log in to BLOGLOVIN' just click this link.
Next click Join Bloglovin
For those of you that already have a Facebook account; easy to sign in.
Or else, you sign up with email...
Follow the steps and you created your Bloglovin account.
You will receive an email verification and once you clicked that link; you are done!
Store your password and the login link in a document with password so nobody can hack your info.
NOW you are ready to Move your Google Reader to BLOGLOVIN'
Click: Import your favorite blogs from Google Reader. Use this hyperlink to get started!
You just log in and GO!
On my Google Plus About page I do list my Bloglovin' under my 'Other profiles, see yellow marked above.
Now you're all set and I hope this was clear enough for securing your Google Reader as data on your PC and for importing your favorite blogs from Google Reader to Bloglovin'.
You might want to go through your list again and place your 'blogger-following' in appropriate groups.
Just click on the drop down window at the top...
That's how you create groups and you can create a new group as you need to...
GOOD LUCK and enjoy BLOGLOVIN'
If you wish to keep me current in your BLOGLOVIN' Reader; just click on my Eiffel Tower.
Like that BLOGLOVIN' Eiffel Tower widget; click on hyperlink to install your own.
That's the ultimate Swedish French Touch!

Had to remove their widget on November 8, 2022—as it was causing lots of problems.

{YOUR Facebook Like Plugin for Blogger}

  • For those of you that do have a Facebook Fan Page, there is a neat Facebook Like Plugin for Blogger.
  • Very easy to install, just look at the example below:

  • This is a screen shot of my own Like Plugin for Blogger from March 12, 2015.
This one is from August 11, 2018
You just go to this website: Page Plugin and you enter your own Facebook Page URL at the very top.
So in fact, you just leave the markings as they appear on this website, only add in your Page's URL.
Click on Get Code and paste that into your Blog by clicking on Layout
Once inside Layout, click on Add a Gadget
Select HTML/JavaScript and paste your Code in the box.

For those of you that missed my post with TIP: HOW to Shorten Your FB Fan Page URL, see below post...

That's it! Very simple.

{TIP: HOW to Shorten Your FB Fan Page URL}

  • Many bloggers also do have a FB (Facebook) Fan Page. Ever noticed that long string of numbers in your URL? Mine looked like this before: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mariettes-Back-to-Basics-LLC/344099510841
  • Let me show you how I did change it to: facebook.com/MariettesBacktoBasics
  • Yes, if you click on it or copy and paste this into your browser it takes you straight to my FB Page.
  • That would be very helpful in mentioning into an email or wherever you want to publish this. Looks neat and will be easy to remember and does not look spammy.
  • At first I noticed this short FB Fan Page URL in Avril's Royal Ribbon FB Fan Page: facebook.com/RoyalRibbons. We communicated via our LinkedIn accounts.
  • So I had to figure it out and like to share it here with you.
  • Log in to your regular FB account NOT your FB Fan Page!
  • In the browser put: facebook.com/username ←click it if you already are logged in.
Click on drop down box next to Pages...
Select the name of your Page or else type in your Page's name
Be careful as your username may be changed only once!
Click Confirm

From my previous posting I had the info below:

  • A 'Enter Desired Username' will popup on the right - see where MariettesBacktoBasicsLLC is typed inside.
  • Now very careful type inside THAT box the name YOU want to show directly behind facebook.com
  • DOUBLE check as it cannot be changed! Make sure you capitalize words as they will appear exactly like that in your new URL.
Good luck! Let me know if you managed to change your Fan Page.

{HOW I Managed the Spam Comments so far...}

  • A couple of weeks ago, I started to receive numerous anonymous spam comments and some did even end up being published.
  • It also has affected the listing of my Popular Posts, on the sidebar but that will get sorted out again over time.
  • Even if they do end up in the Spam, it is rather annoying for having to delete them. So what did I do to stop this?
Bloggingpro.com
  • Just LOVED this sign from Bloggingpro.com and had to use it here!
Instead of having Anyone comment, I now changed to Registered User  and the Spam Comments have completely vanished!
  • Previously I'd left this open to Anyone as there are lots of silent followers, especially relatives, that never ever comment anyway, so what's the purpose of keeping that option open?
  • Maybe some of you find this helpful as well.
  • So glad it worked for friend Tammy! Read her comment on {Mom's 5th Dialysis Anniversary}
  • If some of you have other tips to share; more than welcome to leave a comment!

Wishing you a great week; wherever you are!

{How is YOUR Blog's TRUE Presence on the WEB?}

  • As bloggers we love to get followers, comments and whatever social media connection we are participating in.
  • But HOW can we measure the OUTPUT?
  • Surely we CAN measure this and I will show you here with some examples at random, to also make clear that a high NUMBER of FOLLOWERS is often very deceiving! Bare with me till the very end; you will be in for quite a surprise!

  • Let's start with my own very humble number of 490 followers...

linkgoogle.com/webmasters

  • The world's number one site search is of course Google with 4,390,000,000 results...

  • This is my own humble site search result for those 490 followers of my blog in 189 countries.
  • Not bad; 1,840 results.

  • This is Nora from the emotion-centered Seelensachen blog in Austria, with a very high number of followers; 1,868.

Seelensachen.blogspot.com yields 1,080 results on site search (blog has been removed)

  • That is LESS than for my humble number of 490 followers.
  • Loyal readers cannot be lured in temporarily, by feeding them just emotion-centered content.
  • The Experts call that style: The vampire blogger.
A dangerous way for being emotion centered and selfish. Love the last line by Clay Morgan in his: The Undead Guide to Killing your Blog: then your online career will be in its twilight faster than Dracula can flap his cape...

  • Some writers are just brilliant with their words and it comes across rather clear; don't you think?
  • Below is an excerpt from Clay Morgan's post:

  • Meet Anita Rivera from the Castles Crowns Cottages blog.

  • Doing the site search for Castles Crowns and Cottages yields 554 results.
  • Guess that Google too did spot this Copy & Paste Master with her very vague linking to the source; if at all.
  • Does that make you feel more at ease about not having that many followers?

  • Meet Delores from Vignette Design with her 1707 members.

  • Doing the site search for Vignette Design yields 847 results.
  • She does have great and genuine content at times, all of her own but she too knows how to borrow content and ideas from big websites.
  • Again; Google knows how to spot when anyone uses thin or scraped content. Another issue is that she seldom does comment on other bloggers posts anymore.
  • I gave up on her because of that as it cannot be a one-way event. Sad fact as Delores did help me out in June of 2010, when I was as green as they come in blogging. She pointed me to a tutorial for creating the widget to have others take it with them, off your side bar. That was mighty sweet!
  • Don't you agree with me?

  • There is Katysue from Good Life of Design who obviously no longer uses her Google Friend Connect but she ranked very high with her Copy & Paste blogging style and very vague source linking (just mentioning it is from Pinterest and such).
  • But Google KNOWS that certain people are plagiarizing and they make it show up in their site search as you see above; Katysue yields only 847.

  • Another blogger is Bella from Bellas Rose Cottage with quite a high number of followers; 1464 in total.
  • She long abandoned my blog and never ever did comment, contrary to the beginning.
  • Guess I no longer did qualify for belonging to her ranks.

  • Doing the site search for Bellas Rose Cottage did yield 557 results.
  • So, Google knows that she is not out and about as much as she ought to.

  • Tammy's sincere, down to earth, happy and genuine posts with only use of her own photos did yield 1,190 with site search!

  • Meet Elisabeth from Elisabeth Welt in Germany.
  • Sure, speaking seven languages does make my horizon a little bit bigger but most bloggers do have a Google translate button so you too can visit more 'out of the box' so to speak.

  • Dear Elisabeth from Elisabeth Welt does yield astonishingly high with the site search: A MEGA 7,810!
  • So how come that Elisabeth's World (translated from German) scores THIS high?

One thing I know for sure; she is the MOST LOYAL COMMENTER in the blogger world and she posts very frequent, short posts, not those BORING long text stories that nobody has time to read.
We scan the Internet; we don't READ on the Internet.
Hah, lesson learned...?!
Elisabth also is following the COMMENT- DIALOGUE instead of the Monologue theory; she does REPLY to comments!

Another fabulous blog that I have had on my side bar for quite a while is: Fashion.
  • Sarah does have 1,249 followers.

  • Sarah also yields very high with her outstanding blog Fashion; 22,600!
  • You ought to check out those outstanding blogs and think twice about running like lemmings after something that IS NOT...
  • Okay, both my husband and I have done a lot of analyzing during our years as international mushroom consultants. I still like to do this. It teaches you how to read between the lines, how to detect genuine material from pretentious plagiarized material.
  • Somebody else did the work by making excellent photos and big deal you write a blog post about it.
  • Or those that use others' suffering as an emotion-centered bait for their blogs.
  • I do not approve of that either.
  • We all ought to bring RESPECT back into our culture.
  • As for my MANTRA it is BACK TO BASICS.
  • Like former chief evangelist of Apple +Guy Kawasaki is saying so well:

We all ought to recognize and promote other bloggers as well. It is not only about us.
  • On my sidebar I have always put some fledgling bloggers, to help them being exposed to a larger audience.

Certainly I would have appreciated that myself in my beginning period.

  • Under my Blogger Tips, you still can find several tutorials with Blogger Tips.
  • Use them as you please, that is my little contribution of Making Meaning.
  • What is your opinion about this google site search result?
  • Were you surprised by the outcome?
  • Love to hear your thoughts!

PS for Ria from the blog It’s Me this photo of her site search which did yield 708 for her 1120 followers and not 6,070 as she mentioned in her comment below. Follow the Google Webmaster guidelines by logging in to google.com and then type: site:... fill in your blog name only, as shown in above examples, leaving the http:// off. We have to compare apples with apples!
