Fond Memories of my Paternal Grandmother and Mother–in–law who were BEST Friends

Had these images for a long time but I myself was not able to remove some 'wild' background...
June 1983 at the terrace of Pieter's eldest brother's home... in Horst, The Netherlands.
From left to right: Pieter's Mom in wheelchair, my Paternal Grandmother (they were BEST FRIENDS and sang in the choir), me and my Mom to the right.
Ingrid from Meezer's Mews & Terrieristical Woofs ←click on link—even framed it...
Me with my Paternal Grandmother
And in a frame...

On April 5, my dear Mother–in–law had her 129th Birthday in heaven.
On April 11, my dear Paternal Grandmother had her 231st Birthday in heaven.
Mom did fill in for her when she died in 1984 and sang in the choir till her death in 2015.
Very special memories!
Now it is only me singing in the chancel choir as soprano...

  1. It's so nice that your grandmother and mother-in-law were best friends. What a dear photo this is of all of you. I like the little scrap book frames you made too. How special that your mom and grandmother sang in the choir as well. Three generations singing hymns at Mass. What a lovely post of memories, Mariette.

    1. Dearest Sheri,
Thank you and yes, that was very special for them being best friends!
No, I did not make those scrap book frames—I'm not that talented. Link is included.
My Mother–in–law actually took my Grandmother under her. wings since she lost Grandpa in 1965. That were almost twenty years of a special friendship till my Grandmother past away in 1984—she just came home from a choir event.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  16. Hello Mariette, I am sorry if I missed any of your posts, but I am now back in Cleveland, after being shaken by the earthquake, and just in time for the total eclipse. You were blessed with many loving and wonderful family members, and there is nothing nicer than a family that gets along so well. When I was young, I never got those mother-in-law jokes because my parents both loved and respected their in-laws. Getting to know your family through your writing, it is no surprise that you experienced the same happiness!
