{My Hand Knitted Silk Lace Shawl in Peacock Pattern}

It is about time that I show you my Hand Knitted Silk Lace Shawl in Peacock Pattern. Most bloggers know that it takes time for styling things and it's even harder for items you have to wear! The weather at home had been quite dark and dreary so we thought we take all those pieces with us in the car to Florida - to the SUNSHINE STATE.
Well yeah, SUNSHINE behind those gray clouds...
Here we are again on September 19, at the Hyatt House Miami Airport, our favorite home away from home.
Never mind, their botanical garden is still great for making photos!
So here is my hand knitted (yes, by ME!) shawl from Swiss Lang Yarns in a 100% taupe silk, which  I had obtained from New York by the box, wholesale.
Closeup of the Peacock Pattern in Silk
As a matter of fact, I did three of these silk shawls. One was a gift for a dear friend in Australia and one I donated to "THREADS OF LIFE: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S TEXTILE ART" from the Georgia State University. You can read more from my LinkedIn profile.
Knitted after this Anna Burda pattern.
The skirt is my own sewing creation in a matching tropical wool from Britex Fabrics, San Francisco with silk lining from Britex Notions.
Shoes are Charles Jourdan from the Outlet.
Pantyhose are Wolford from the Outlet
Bag is from Chanel, from I Magnin, San Francisco.
Cotton peplum shirt is by Escada from the Outlet.
Gold Cameo brooch is a gift from Pieter, bought in Eindhoven, The Netherlands as an estate piece at a jewelry store.
Cane I used only because the model in the Anna Burda held one...
Watch is a Rado from Switzerland; tax free.
Pearl Majolica earrings are from Singapore airport; tax free.
Pearl bracelet by Majolica is from Neiman Marcus at Oahu in Hawaii.
When shopping frugally at Outlets and tax free, one can afford some little luxuries...
Closing my eyes... dreaming of SUNSHINE.
That's a FULL size 4 or European 34

{Raw Silk Purchased in Hong Kong for Sewing THIS}

Traveling to International Conferences gives you a great opportunity for some special shopping. Such was the case when we went to Hong Kong and I got to purchase some lovely Raw Silk. Very soft, not that thin and it drapes perfect. So look what I created from my fabric...
A short cropped jacket with elbow length sleeves over a narrow skirt.
This is from a Burda pattern in a size 4 or European 34.
I used antique buttons as a garnish.
The entire suit is lined in black silk from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco.
My top is a knit rayon by Escada.
I do wear a Chanel belt through the added on belt loops.
Wolford panty hose and Italian Bruno Magli patent leather shoes from the Outlet.
Yes, that wasp catcher behind me will get painted white one of these days...
There are two pockets sewn on in the back and the skirt has a center slit.
Yes, I did match the plaids in all seams...
This raw silk fabric is a bit slubby.
Detail of the antique button...
And my Rado coupole watch that we bought tax free at Singapore airport.
Later I added the wrist band as it came with a black leather one.
Bracelet is white and yellow gold from Costco wholesale.
Lots of topstitching done on this suit; all with Japanese silk thread from Britex Notions.
Meet the photographer Pieter in his cotton plaid shirt with linen Zegna jeans from the Outlet.

{What Type of Feet do YOU have?}

Have you ever looked at the shape of your feet?
There are different Foot Types and I found out that I have Egyptian Type Feet.
Voilà -- My Egyptian Type Feet!
Yep, that's ME: Egyptian Foot - The Egyptian Foot tends to be a narrow foot. It has a longer big toe and the rest of the toes taper down from longest to shortest. It is the most functional of all the foot structures.
However because of the long big toe, you must be careful in your choice of shoes.
Ha, being careful with choice of shoes?
Even more careful with choice of panty hose.
That's one reason I wear Wolford hosiery as they last and last.
All other brands I can trash after doing some walking or God forbid; dancing...
Which Foot Type Are You... Egyptian Roman Greek...
Tell me in the comment what yours are... I am anxious to know your DNA.
Egyptian Type Feet with shoe size 8... Or European size 38.
Guess if my big toe would not be that long I had a size 7 or 37.
This photo is taken at the Camino Real, hotel in México City.
This is how consultants relax during the weekends.
The above was my all time favorite bathing suit with wrapped skirt from La Perla, Italy.
I was so proud for finding it at the Aventura Mall, Aventura FL (near Miami).
Sadly it vanished from the Camino Real Mexico City hotel...
The above picture is from the Dutch magazine Nouveau where I found it.
Looking down on my toes from my chaise at the Hyatt House Miami Airport while at the pool last month...
On our balcony...
No change; they definitely are Egyptian!
Elite Feet Tapered toes or Egyptian feet | link to Urban Dictionary
Female feet where the big toe is the longest toe. The most attractive type of feet. (Hello, how many pair of panty hose they pierced?!) They are fairly uncommon, but that's one of the reasons why they are so great. Also sometimes called tapered toes or Egyptian type feet.
Putting my best foot forward still does not change it...
Big toe is LONGER!
See my left foot below; it's very obvious.
Mummy's False Toes Helped Ancient People Walk Like an Egyptian (click link for reading full and very interesting story...)
I start feeling very ANCIENT myself...
Maybe, just maybe—this is why I LOVE these toe loop sandals?
What is your favorite sandal?
Before I start feeling like an endangered species, I want to compare my toes with others...
By the way, Perfect Ten Salon & Spa did a great job on the pedicure!
But are my toes also perfect ten?!
One of my favorite toe loop sandals from Indonesia... WISH I had bought several pairs of these!
Do you ever regret you didn't purchase more of something that proves very comfy?
Here we stand: My husband Pieter as a true Roman (?) and I as an Egyptian...
Pieter's right foot even looks like GREEK, with the 2nd toe longer than the big toe. Not so his left foot.
Long second toe
Indicates leadership qualities. Rulers from ancient Egyptian and Hawaiian royal dynasties all had long second toes. You need to be in charge.
That is TRUE for my Pieter!
For sure, husband Pieter has not a narrow foot...
He stands on this earth very firmly!
Had to add this as it already did confuse me with Irmi's small sized German feet in a size 4.5 but that is 37.5 European or a 7 in the US. Got confused once again with all these differences...
Guess this is an interesting subject with 26,445 views.

{My Wolford Outlet Score}

  • One of the bonus of being an international consultant is that you get to check out boutiques and know what will be coming down the pipeline into the OUTLETS.
  • When we worked in Connecticut for a big mushroom farm, we always did drive to the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets and one of my favorite stores is Wolford
  • Stocking up on hosiery at a fraction of the real cost and checking out other sales.
  • You even can order over the phone, if you know what you are looking for!
  • Also on line at Wolfordshop so it just depends on what your needs are. We used to have a Wolford boutique here in Atlanta but it closed... Designer Wolford is located in Austria.
  • There also is a Wolford Outlet at Orlando Premium Outlets at Vineland Ave.
  • Also at Sawgrass Mills Outlets - 1700 Sawgrass Mills Circle -  33323 Sunrise, FL
  • This is me showing off one of Wolford's scores; a great top in a kind of a rust color.
  • Wearing it on my Escada shorts.
  • Wolford pieces are perfect for traveling; very light weight and great quality!
  • Love the season where we can wear shorts...

{Wearing Shades of Gray for Winter}

On December 14 of 2011, I did wear this newly purchased cotton coat from Costco, together with my linen plaid skirt. Again this year on February 10, I was wearing shades of gray for winter... Pantyhose from the Wolford Outlet: Wolford  @ Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets, Central Valley, NY 1-845-928-5818 for a great discount!
There also is a Wolford Outlet at Orlando Premium Outlets at Vineland Ave.
Also at Sawgrass Mills Outlets - 1700 Sawgrass Mills Circle -  33323 Sunrise, FL
With the weather going up and down from warm to cold(er) and from sunny to rain, we often need to switch coats. Just wanted to show this outfit.
NO, I am not wearing a HALO but that is the mirror in our hallway...
Shoes are from Bruno Magli from Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th Outlet.
December 14, 2011 outside in front of our Southern Magnolia.
My hair was shorter than.
Outside light in Georgia is most of the times too harsh...
Now you get to see a glimpse of our staircase area too...
Longer hair; but all in shades of gray!
Love this coat, wore it on Friday to Atlanta again... it was cold.
It has a long (way too long in fact...) belt that can be worn in the back.
It gives me a tail...
Sure, husband Pieter comes in his own shades of gray...
That was it  for today!

{My Hand Knitted Vest}

Since it is winter and we are wearing our woolen sweaters and such, I like to show you My Hand Knitted Vest. On January 20, I did wear it for the photo so you can see it on my blog...
Wearing my hand knitted vest with my English woolen tweed suit from Planet.co.uk
Husband Pieter did buy this suit for me in London, many years ago when he was by himself and it still fits perfect!
The entire Planet suit.
Worn with a  Laurèl silk blouse and Escada shoes and +Wolford pantyhose, both from the Outlet at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in New York State.
There also is a Wolford Outlet at Orlando Premium Outlets at Vineland Ave.
Also at Sawgrass Mills Outlets - 1700 Sawgrass Mills Circle -  33323 Sunrise, FL
This classic tweed suit does have a dark brown velvet collar.
Jacket off and showing you my A-line skirt with the hand knitted vest...
Tiggy-Tiger girl sitting on the Wood Trail.
The vest has cables knit into the front and back. Also a mice tooth edging and knitted-in button holes.
Detail from the cables, two fine ones with a broad one in the center. You also can see the button holes and buttons with mice tooth edging all around vest.
This is the back, with three of those cable rows knitted in.
Very practical it reads on the side, it was in the Anna Burda, February 1983.
Another classic pattern.
Click here on pink hyperlink:  Cable Vest for the Pdf.
Pattern is in Dutch but with some explaining and clear knitting example that will be easy to follow, also some translation of key words.

Do you love to knit cable patterns?
I know, there are two blog-ladies whom I admire for their knitting of sweaters and such: Anett from Fadenstille  and Marlies from Bergzauber stricken. Can't compete with them!
