{Raw Silk Purchased in Hong Kong for Sewing THIS}

Traveling to International Conferences gives you a great opportunity for some special shopping. Such was the case when we went to Hong Kong and I got to purchase some lovely Raw Silk. Very soft, not that thin and it drapes perfect. So look what I created from my fabric...
A short cropped jacket with elbow length sleeves over a narrow skirt.
This is from a Burda pattern in a size 4 or European 34.
I used antique buttons as a garnish.
The entire suit is lined in black silk from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco.
My top is a knit rayon by Escada.
I do wear a Chanel belt through the added on belt loops.
Wolford panty hose and Italian Bruno Magli patent leather shoes from the Outlet.
Yes, that wasp catcher behind me will get painted white one of these days...
There are two pockets sewn on in the back and the skirt has a center slit.
Yes, I did match the plaids in all seams...
This raw silk fabric is a bit slubby.
Detail of the antique button...
And my Rado coupole watch that we bought tax free at Singapore airport.
Later I added the wrist band as it came with a black leather one.
Bracelet is white and yellow gold from Costco wholesale.
Lots of topstitching done on this suit; all with Japanese silk thread from Britex Notions.
Meet the photographer Pieter in his cotton plaid shirt with linen Zegna jeans from the Outlet.

  4. Liebe Mariette,

  5. You had me at "Chanel," dearest Mariette :-) How lovely you look, and those legs, those legs. I don't think I could have worn that skirt even as a teenager. You have been blessed by nature, Dutch lady! :-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

    1. Dearest Véronique,
Thank you for your compliments... Oui, oui with 'Chanel' I certainly can draw you near... It is such pretty and classy work that they produced and still manage to produce. Another incentive for keeping your waist 'valid' for enjoying such a belt! But on the other hand; I never smoked, never drank so I could indulge in some couture pieces for life!
Yes, I have been genetically blessed but I also managed to live a disciplined lifestyle and it paid off as since my age of 15 I have not changed.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

      Liefs,
      Mariette

    1. Dearest Tamago,
Thank you for your generous compliments! Having long legs is a bonus but for finding fitting jeans that were long enough took me years. I've cried because my favorite Jordache jeans never fit me. Now with the Escada Outlets (German designer brand) I solved that problem as they are long enough with 32" inseam.
      Hugs to you,

Thank you for your compliments and funny enough but black and white I have always loved very much! Oh, through our travels as International Consultants we have purchases some great designer watches tax free; that helps for adding some in different colors etc.
It is a blessing for having or even for having had our Parents! The fond memories last for the remainder of our lives.
      Happy week to you.

    1. Dearest Ginger,
Thanks for your praise. Well, I had three years of formal education in fashion so I can design after just a photo in a magazine... but I quit doing this when I discovered those Premium Outlets with designer clothes. So much easier to try on; whey in love with it, you buy it at a fraction of the original cost and with no effort.
During our time as international consultants we dressed a lot in partner look; as much as I could pull it off, I did. We got a reputation because of it. Guess my fashion design always did shine through...
      Hugs to you,
      Mariette

      Liefs,
      Mariette
