{Rural Georgia - Stevens Antiques & Guns in Danville}

When we immigrated from The Kingdom of The Netherlands to Georgia, USA there were quite some differences. There were no windmills here in this rural Georgia area.
But it was quite interesting to find in Danville, Georgia such a place like Stevens Antiques & Guns. We did buy a very special silver Verge Fuzee antique pocket watch, some antique silver coins for my sister Diny and a Smith & Wesson for me...
This is me standing on the side of the shop. That was October 1986. The antique silver Verge fuzee pocket watch is since September 2006 in The Netherlands as we gave it to Judith, Pieter's niece. She collects them.
My Smith & Wesson we did trade in again, before leaving for Pennsylvania and moving to Italy.

  2. One of my favorite things to do is go antiquing. You never know what you'll find - but there is always something. My most recent find was a stained glass window. I'm going to hang it in the window of our guest bathroom. <3

Stained windows can be so pretty and they look different, depending on the amount of sunshine filtering through. You will be thrilled; no doubt!
      Happy week to you.

We used to hunt at such kind of stores a lot more than we do lately but it is always great to explore 'the past'...
Happy new week to you and hugs from the other end of the world,

Seems like you succeeded for the "treasure hunt" ☆☆☆ Your words made me think how it was for you to adjust new country.

Oh, in the beginning you are so terribly lost in this VAST country! Our State is 4.7 times bigger than my entire birth country of The Netherlands.
But it is an adventure and one learns so much!
      Big hugs from Georgia/USA
      Mariette

Our friends' daughter is now in Japan with a small group for their sister-city visit! It might be too late for the beautiful cherry blossoms but still pretty in the spring!

  9. Dearest Mariette,
It was a big conversion for you to emigrate, I guess. Everything seems so big in the U.S..
This summer we will be visiting New York, my husband and me. I can not wait.
    Enjoy the weekend!

Oh, the VAST country is something that is so hard to get used to in the beginning. Our State is 4.7 times bigger than The Netherlands. Our garden is big and the roads are wider etc. etc.
You will have the time of your life for sure!
      Hugs,

    1. Dearest Tamago,
Funny is that during my stay in Japan, July of 2007, I constantly had to remind myself that I was NOT in The Netherlands. Roads are similar; homes and their sizes are very similar and the more thought through energy efficient set up. So that would not have been such a vast difference for having to adapt to. But now we are so used to this vast country and different lifestyle. Maybe they too start thinking one day more energy conscious like we were raised!
      Hugs to you,
      Mariette
