{Less Office Space in Return for Our DEEPER Reach In Closet...}

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

On February 19, we did start with the renovation of our office and guest bed room, where we created a deeper reach in closet. One can easily do with less office space in return for a deeper reach in closet... What do you say?
Standing in the door opening, the closet from the guest bedroom is visible...
Built into the office, but we happily sacrificed this loss of floor space!
Husband Pieter used broomsticks and whatever, for hanging my clothes temporarily over the tub in the guest bathroom and over its bi-fold closet doors.
Out of the way and out of the DUST...
No need to use that bathroom anyway.
I did host a dinner on the 23rd of February and we had our dinner guests use the master bathroom instead.
This is the office before the wall got opened up.
Floor stripped bare before adding also a solid oak plank floor from Bruce.
Pieter had done all the preparation before the contractor took over.
Out came the wall and the carpenter is already putting the solid oak planks in place inside the deepened closet.
Looking into the closet from the office...
New light also will be placed from the ceiling and from above the inside of those bi-fold doors.
I never could find anything before and things were too tight inside.
February 20, the new walls are now closed up and the solid oak plank flooring is already laid.
New double outlet in wall.
Not done yet... sanding and caulking before the painter could finish up.
View from the office into the hallway. Smokey our feline boy is sleeping in his pet bed...
New crown molding added at the top...
Photo from inside closet. You can tell how much has been added...
Yep, that much has been added. The exact same solid oak plank floor, which we had in the other rooms was no longer available. But when the white wire Shelf & Rod shelving is installed again, no one will see the difference!
Do you also love deep enough closets with plenty of light?
This narrow reach in closet almost became a walk in closet because we gained 16" or 41 cm!
Will show you the finished rooms next!

    1. Theresa, Pieter sure is a handy man but this was done by a contractor. Husband Pieter did only do the preparation.

Well, this time my husband Pieter did not do all the work as we hired a contractor to do the new walls, the solid oak flooring and the painting. But the preparation for moving everything out and stripping the floor, was hard work too.
      Hugs from a sunny Georgia,

Enjoy the remainder of your week too.

So glad your are enjoying my birth country; despite the rain. Presuming that you did visit the Keukenhof; the world's most beautiful spring garden. With the type of weather you now fully understand why things grow so lush there! Oh, Bruges is a great destination to go to and it is such a different culture. You for sure will come back to Canada full with special memories. That did bring us even closer together. Thanks for your 'Dutch' hugs and blessings!
Many hugs back to both of you and enjoy and come home safe.

    1. Dearest Jo-Anne,
It all depends on how long you want to stay in that home and what the renovation is about... One needs to weigh things off before investing in it.

  20. I saw your comment on Fabby's blog and had to come visit. Your closet looks fabulous! It seems that no matter what we always run out of closet space! The flooring was matched up nicely. Like you said when the clothing is hung who will notice the small shade difference. Your husband is inventive- I like how he found a way to hang the clothing!

My boys won't use kitty bed like Smokey does. They rather nap on the floor or on the pile of laundry!

You are right on that one. Funny how felines select to sleep. At times our kitty beds were filled up in an entire row inside the garage. I remember that one time when the UPS guy came inside and shook his head. It was winter though and they love to curl up in them. During spring, summer and fall they are more outside than inside (except or breakfast and supper and a snack in-between.
Yep, Royce has now come to the US and it sure is GOOD chocolate!
