Yes, on August 30, we went again for this lovely bike ride at Sea Pines Resort Bike Trail, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
We did stay at the Hyatt Place Savannah Airport and from there we went for our biking trip.
Like on October 27, 2017 we started out more or less from the Lighthouse area.
Here I am, wearing my Alo Yoga short that just arrived the day before departure!
The sun was so very bright here at Harbour Town Yacht Basin!
You can click below this post for going to my previous post from last year with map and more info about Sea Pines Resort.
It is such a lovely area!
Well worth the fee for entering with our car + 2 bikes.
This is where we biked... from our Strava App
We stayed for 2 nights at this lovely Hyatt Place with generous sized rooms and kitchen area for breakfast.
Our green KIA Soul is parked next to the Hyatt Place sign with the 2 TREK Bikes on the bike rack.
On the day of arrival we were at the pool by 4:00 PM...
It was still HOT... and very sunny, I could not even see the screen of my iPhone due to the glare, hence these finger marks!
33ºC is 91.4ºF
It actually was a lot warmer than the forecast said...
At 7:20 AM from our room...
YEP, this is serious...
Just the week before, a woman that tried to rescue her doggie, got pulled down in the marshes by such an alligator and killed. Very sad and only the doggie survived.
Both evenings we walked across the street to 201 Seafood Restaurant and had delicious fresh seafood.
My 2nd day was my favorite: TUNA STEAK* GF
Carrot-ginger purée, seasoned red rice, cucumbers and carrots.
Pieter opted for the ATLANTIC SALMON* GF
Seared salmon served on a bed of fingerling potatoes, bacon, shallot, spinach with crema.
Just lovely to merely cross the road back to our hotel...
On our final morning we did bike around the hotel, well not full circle as there is the Interstate on one side and a lake. But they sure enough are working hard to get that road extended!
This is the route that we biked around (almost) the Hyatt Place hotel. The Interstate 95 is seen to the left.

Hello Mariette, The nice thing about being out and doing things is that there are always adventures awaiting and interesting things to see. The story about the alligator is a sobering one that we have to be careful and obey both rules and common sense.
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteYes, at times it kind of looks adventurous but we have to heed those wildlife giants with lots of teeth!
Still, listening to all the birds and not hearing a lot of traffic noise is a blessing.
Hugs,
Mariette
Um belo passeio e muito saudável.
ReplyDeleteTerrível aquela senhora ter sido morta por um jacaré.
Um abraço e bom Domingo.

Dearest Francisco Manuel,
DeleteIt is beautiful and very healthy for being in clean and fresh air, right in nature.
Yes, very sad that the lady got killed and annually we have several cases like that here in the USA... We ought to respect alligators!
Hugs,
Mariette
Look at you si fit and trim! Kudos:) Had to say it..:)
ReplyDeleteDearest Monique,
DeleteThank you, we both were feeling happy and in good shape all through summer.
Now we've had a break due to traveling and also the hurricane and its aftermath.
Soon we want to catch up again!
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello dear Mariette!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely place to visit!
The hotel is located in a beautiful area !
I’m sure you enjoyed biking and seeing this beautiful view from your room!
Like your new Alo Yoja outfit! Excellent choice!!
Wishing you a lovely day and a happy week! Hugs!
Dimi...
Dearest Dimi,
DeleteYes, it is worth the drive to get there, wish we could do this more often but the traveling to and from takes up time as well, plus a stay at a hotel.
Love my Alo Yoga things, they feel so comfortable and actually I needed a shorter short as it looked so odd where my tanning stopped...
Hugs,
Mariette
I love seeing where you were., The sign shown in the blog with all the prohibitions is deceptive I guess, as you are there and considered it worth it...but it seemed so unwelcoming. I suppose it did seem that way to me because I am not at all familiar with the resort. Or how they handle things and tourists.
ReplyDeleteThat was quite warm while you were there. Having lived in Europe I know Centigrade readings well. You look beautiful and fit! I love that you feel so well as to make that bike tour, the both of you. And Pieter, I would love your choice of meal best of all. With extra fingerling potatoes.
Dearest Katie Isabella,
DeleteIt is just a matter of safety, to guard off the property of so many people living there during weekends and holidays. Sure does feel good and it is very well kept and clean. So we don't really mind.
Yes, it was even a lot warmer than expected according to the weather forecast.
We pray that God grants us some more of these special outings together on our bikes!
Yes, I did have that choice for dinner during my previous visit.
Hugs,
Mariette
A great place for enjoying beautiful weather and a bike ride. Very sad about the woman killed by the alligator. Was the area affected by the recent hurricane?
ReplyDeleteDearest Tammy,
DeleteIt is a super place to be on a bike! Tragic such attacks... it happens over and over, despite warnings.
Could not find any news updates about that area being affected by hurricane Michael, guess the main part was the Florida panhandle and South Georgia. Yesterday President Trump landed at Warner Robins Air force base, just an hour away from us. The pecan and peach orchards have severe damage.
Hugs,
Mariette
A beautiful cycling route. Have a nice evening
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteYes, it is a dream area, right in the middle of pristine nature!
Hugs,
Mariette
It's such a beautiful place. Even though it was so hot, it must have been really nice to ride the bike and enjoy the sceneries.
ReplyDeleteI remember the news about alligator. Such a tragedy..
Have a lovely new week, Mariette!
Dearest Tamago,
DeleteBut the heat you hardly notice with that wonderful sea breeze!
Would not know what to do if we ever would encounter such an alligator, they can run fast and wack with their tail.
Hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful town to bike hopefully without allegators 🐊 and what great shape you two were in!
ReplyDeleteDearest Debbie,
DeleteThank you and yes this area is almost perfect as it is flat, quiet and with that lovely sea breeze.
Both of us have never been out of shape, weighing constantly the same but of course, muscles do weaken if not used. We try to do the best we can to maintain our health by exercise like this. Nothing compares to exercising out in the fresh air.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteyou both did a wonderful Biking Tour again! What a wonderful placce! Thank you for all the lovely pictures!
Have a great week,
sending Love and hugs, Claudia xo
Dearest Claudia,
DeleteYep, this is our second time here. Wish it was not that far away...
Sending you hugs,
Mariette
Wonderful biking tour you two had and looking so fit.
ReplyDeleteI remember the alligator attack and it was so horrible. I was leary of that when at Disney world with my son and his family. I constantly was on the watch. Those things after resting up in the sun can leap quite far and hit with their tale to knock one down. I would not let the children go near the water or lagoons.
You have some great photos of the area. Pretty area.
Dearest Betsy,
DeleteThank you and it is a constant work for staying at this level of fitness. It is easy to give up but that would make you spiral down in health rather quick. As long as Pieter can do this with his heart condition, we feel it as a blessing!
You were so right for watching your grandchildren very closely as they certainly cannot estimate the immediate danger. Shocking a couple of years ago that little boy who went swimming and got pulled down by an alligator and eaten...
Hugs,
Mariette
