Hat Elastic for Preventing my Shoes from Sliding OFF

Just a simple piece of hat elastic helped me keeping my shoes from sliding off my heel!
Sure this hat elastic you can find in different colors too!
But I was glad for finding my 'old' Hat Elastic from The Netherlands...
Without measuring, I cut off two pieces and did tie a knot on both ends.
This Hat Elastic is strong enough for holding that nasty sliding heel band in its place!
Wore this with my long Escada silk satin roses dress and it works well with long jeans.
Haha, my biker-feet with the imprints by the sun from where my Ecco sandals fit... 😉
And... my ugly toe is not yet 'normal'. You can read about how that came to be here: NO WAY!!! ←click link
Shoes are also Escada and they come with a matching small, and a larger tote, as well as with a belt.
I'd rather have some hat elastic 'visible' then tripping or having difficulty walking...
Do you have any shoes that don't stay put?
Often they look better than they wear!
Wearing my small tote with my shoes and Escada silk satin rose dress + stole.
Majorica pearl necklace and bracelet with Christian Dior pearl earrings in a matching size; found at Singapore airport...

  2. Hallo Mariette,

      Abrazos,
      Mariette

Well, the season is soon ending for bare foot shoes...

  5. Hello Mariette, Safety is more important than anything else! However, necessity is the mother of invention, and how like you to have millinery supplies on hand to create this solution! I could never fix clothing, but I like to keep lots of miscellaneous screws and hardware around--they always come in handy, and I'll bet that Pieter always does likewise!

    1. Dearest Jim,
Yep, for the sake of safety we do a lot.
both of us often joke when encountering a little problem that needs to be fixed. Either I look into my sewing supplies or Pieter goes to his workshop for finding a piece of hardware for using!
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  6. Very clever indeed! I'm typically in sneakers or hikers, actually don't have any dress shoes anymore. Business casual slip-ons are the closest to "dressy." LOL.

BTW, that rose dress is so beautiful, Mariette. You look lovely!

    1. Dearest Kim,
Well, sneakers or hikers are not the best form for any Egyptian type foot. I do wear them for biking in colder season but not for the entire day.
So my dress shoes are still complete and color matching my wardrobe. No spike heels however; never liked those!
Will show the rose dress another time in more detail and I love it too. Wore its 'sister' to a wedding in the Provence in September of 2016: https://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2016/09/back-home-from-wedding-in-provence.html
The huge, matching silk satin shawl, Pieter found at the Escada Outlet and it has proven to be useful!
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  7. It's a really good idea, the outfit covers the elastic and looks stylish anyway.

  9. I have similar sandals that slide off all the time and I gave up wearing them. The elastic would be a good idea for sure :)
