In June of 1994, when we were over a 3-week period back in Indonesia, for consulting at the mushroom farm, we arrived from Jakarta in Yogyakarta and then some two hours driving up into the mountains.
At the Guest Bungalow in Kalianget we stayed and were enjoying a leisurely Sunday.
That's the dress!
Wearing it on a Sunday to Mass and then changing, before heading to the airport for our flight to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, visiting my Parents and Family.
Pieter on the wood trail in our garden in his Burberry summer suit.
Always hard for leaving a perfectly blooming summer garden behind.
Here, Pieter is indulging in the perfume from the Ginger lilies...
Ms. Yati did an excellent job on this sueded silk dress with silk lining from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco, with zipper and silk thread from Britex Notions.
Pieter happy for soon being able to visit with his two brothers and family...
We always looked forward to those trips to The Netherlands; did that 66 times!
Loved the fabric when I touched it in Hong Kong, and loved my choice of dress!

Liefs,
Mariette
It certainly is a lovely dress.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteThank you and yes, Miss Yati was an excellent couture seamstress!
Hugs,
Mariette
Mariette, that was/is a beautiful dress! Such gorgeous colours -- I love jewel tones and wear jewel shades for all my tops. (Best for my colouring!) Ms. Yati did amazing work. :-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Kim,
DeleteThank you and it still IS as I proudly wear it once in a while.
It brings back fond memories of Hong Kong where I bought the sueded silk, after falling in love with its colors and pattern.
Miss Yati was an expert indeed. Now I have a lady from South Korea who is equally talented. Whenever we visit their couture dry cleaning in Atlanta and I have something, she gets it done.
Hugs,
Mariette
Che bei ricordi!Il vestito è bellissimo.
ReplyDeleteCara Olga,
DeleteGrazie e davvero ci sono bei ricordi!
Amo questo vestito ancora oggi.
Abbracci,
Mariette
Beautiful fabric, beautiful style and you looked amazing in the dress. Pieter's video was interesting and I can see he was interested in the architecture.
ReplyDeleteI do believe we would all love to have a Mrs. Yati to help our wardrobes! Fortunately I had my mother, a dressmaker trained in London who made clothes for the British Royals way back in time! She also taught me to sew and I used to make a lot of my own clothes - no longer though!
Hugs - Mary
Dearest Mary,
DeleteYes, the fabric was love at first sight when I spotted it in Hong Kong.
Miss Yati was a treasure and even though I've studied to make clothes myself, it is so much better for having someone do it for you. Since I've found those couture Outlets, no more sewing for me and little things you can read under 'Kea's comment.
Hugs,
Mariette
Your lovely! The dress is lovely! What a cute couple you and your husband make! Indonesia is totally on my list of places to visit. Just waiting for it to open up! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteDearest Kelleyn,
DeleteThank you and you sure can understand how I fell in love with that sueded silk in Hong Kong!
Indonesia has been quite an experience, its nature, people, food and culture.
We still have our foster daughter Anita living there...
Hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful fabric and dress.
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteMiss Yati no doubt did an excellent job creating it.
Sure holding on to it.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, Having a good tailor or seamstress is indeed a treasure. When I worked in an office, I had to have some of my clothes custom made because of a difficult fit, and in addition to the quality of workmanship, you get to select every detail of material, cut and finish. That's a beautiful picture of you in that outfit!
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteYes, you know the value of finding a good tailor.
Thank you, Pieter loves this picture too; he made it but it also shows how happy we both were for being able to soon see our family and friends!
Hugs,
Mariette
I am a seamstress, a designer of dresses and 100% love the fabric and pattern you chose. How lovely you are.
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
DeleteThank you and yes, I still LOVE it very much.
Pieter took some great photos; thanks for the compliment.
Hugs,
Mariette
Abrazos,
Mariette
You look so pretty
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteThank you, I was happy with the dress and very happy for going home to see my Parents, siblings and friends.
Hugs,
Mariette
