Monday, August 17 of 1998 we continued our walk in Montréal...
Montréal Basilica Notre Dame
Lots of blue inside, very seldom seen
It looks like looking into heaven...
There was noise going on outside as they had scaffolds with nets around, for restoration work.
Impossible for making any outside photos or video.

Moccaccino
An aromatic and robust blend,
featuring the deep rich flavours of chocolate and espresso.
Served with whipped cream.
And now it was time for a MOCCACCINO at Second Cup; as is shown in the final part of our video.
It sure was delicious with that chocolate coconut pie.
Those were the days before being diabetic type 2 or having CKD or for Pieter having open heart surgery...
But precious memories!
Hope you enjoyed this and...
Have any of you been there?
Or drank a MOCCACCINO?

I haven't ever been to the Basilica, at least not that I recall. And as often as I go to Starbucks, I've never tried their version. It's a dessert drink! I think we still have at least one Second Cup here in town (downtown), but it's been a few years since I've been there (pre-COVID). I get my usual dairy-free, sugar-free latté at Starbucks when I go. I used to be able to have other drinks, but the dietary restrictions are somewhat limiting!
ReplyDeleteDearest Kim,
DeleteThat Basilica was quite a dream to visit. So heavenly!
And afterwards we both enjoyed our Moccaccino and coconut pie—those were our sinful years I guess.
Hugs,
Mariette
I had a long comment, not sure it went through, Mariette! A no to both, haven't visited the Basilica as far as I recall, and haven't tried the drink. We do have at least one Second Cup here, or used to; I've been into the downtown one a few times, but not since pre-COVID. Now I just stick with my dairy-free, sugar-free lattés from Starbucks. :-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Kim,
DeleteBoth of us never liked the Starbucks coffee. IF the Hyatt hotel serves that for breakfast, it kind of lowers our enjoyment... It is just poor tasting coffee. Hence we never visited any Starbucks.
Now I only have one demitasse of coffee (with cocoa added!) for breakfast and that is it. Coffee always raised my blood pressure and since I keep this rule, only for breakfast, then a green tea around noon with a piece of dark chocolate or home–baked amaretti cookie from almond meal and in the afternoon again green tea with mixed unsalted nuts and a rice cake (lightly salted with Tamari).
Hugs,
Mariette
Me encanta estas joyas arquitectónicas, de arte sacro.
ReplyDeleteBesos.
Querida Antónia,
DeleteLo que sea bien; joyas arquitectónicas del arte sagrado!
Abrazos,
Mariette
WOW ... that view of the altar is Heavenly. What a lovely place; and how lucky for you to visit it. Thank you so much for sharing these photos, Mariette and Pieter.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteIt indeed was a heavenly feeling for being there in person.
Hugs,
Mariette
My goodness! The Basilica is amazing ...
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
DeleteThat Basilica is beyond one's imagination...
Hugs,
Mariette
What an exquisite Basilica in Montreal. The ceiling is indeed like the sky, and one of the best I have seen. Thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteDearest Patricia,
DeleteIt sure was worth visiting it and we both feel privileged for having been there!
Hugs,
Mariette
Very beautiful. I love churches, basilicas, chapels, there is so much history inside them, beyond the religious factor. I also like to sit down for a while and be in peace and silence. I always photograph with respect.

Dearest Christina,
DeleteOh, this was almost unreal. It is history and the very BEST what humans can create; in honor of God. Seemingly did they get inspired by otherworldly powers.
One only can admire so many talents and thank God in a moment of peace and silence for the many talents that are in so many people.
Hugs,
Mariette
It certainly is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love to pray and meditate in places of worships whenever I travel.
Hugs and blessings, dearest Mariette!
Dearest Veronica,
DeleteJust like you, we both like to kneel down and feel connected with our Creator, wherever we are. If possible to catch a Mass, that is perfect but not always possible.
Hugs,
Mariette
I have never been to Montreal, nor have I had a moccacino. My youngest son went from NY to Montreal on the bus with friends a few years ago and on the way back he was given a hard time at the border for absolutely no reason at all.
ReplyDeleteDearest Tammy,
DeleteSo, at least your youngest has been to Montréal.
Too bad that they treated him like that at the border!
Knowing too well how that is as my late first husband got often treated like that.
Not a nice experience!
Oh, a moccaccino is delicious and we have been adding cocoa to our coffee since then!
Hugs,
Mariette
