{Silver Repousse Pastry Server with Cherubs}

This is such a lovely Silver Repousse Pastry Server with Cherubs. Would make a perfect bridal gift or as a very special, romantic gift.
Again this is only available at my on line Boutique and I will as always, do ship Worldwide.
Just click hereSilver Repousse Pastry Server with Cherubs in order to go to my online Boutique.
One can only admire the talented silver smith that once created this ornate piece in solid repousse silver...
Perfect match with the beautiful hand crocheted table topper by blogger friend Susan from Ava Grace's Closet's Mama.
Yes, I certainly love to use our roses whenever I photograph beautiful silver pieces. It is such pure romance.
Together with a healthy piece of dark chocolate, filled with dried apricots, nuts and seeds, that I made myself, it displays very well.
Here you can see the silver mark which is German.
First the 800 is visible, followed by a half moon and a crown.
 On Page 21 of Johanna Gehrlein's book: Rosen-Bestecke you can see those silver marks shown in the 1st and 2nd image, resembling a half moon and a crown.
Johanna's excellent book Rosen-Bestecke, about Rose Silver flatware has always been such a great reference!
Sold out...

{Vintage Silver Tea Strainer with Cherubs}

For the cozy winter season coming up, what a joy for serving some hot tea for friends. In order to do this in a traditional and romantic style, I found for you a Vintage Silver-Tea-Strainer with Cherubs. Very unique piece and it will be hard for finding a second one. As usual, available at my Zen Cart powered on line boutique: Mariette's Back to Basics.
Shown here, resting atop a teacup & saucer.
You can see the cherubs around this solid silver-tea-strainer.
Closeup of the cherubs from the handle down...
Closeup of the cherubs on the side.
The four silver hallmarks.
This tea strainer came from Germany but I need some help with the markings.
Does anybody have an idea which silver maker had these marks?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
A big thank you to Johanna Gehrlein, author of the book: Rosen-Bestecke and expert in rose silver.
According to her it is: German silver from Hanau by silversmith J.L. Schlingloff. The 4th hallmark clearly does show the initials J L with the S over them.
Check my comments for Johanna's reaction.
Johanna did cleverly point out in her comment that such a strainer can be used as a sugar sifter for decorating cake, pancakes or waffles. Many uses in the kitchen.
Sold out...

Are you using loose tea at home?
Do you own a tea strainer?
Love to know...

{19th Century French Cherub Cross Pendants}

This time I have for you two rare and unique 19th Century French Cherub Cross-Pendants. The unique feature is the four Cherubs; one on each end. They look just adorable and will make perfect pendants for use in many ways. Hung from a leather rope, linen-twine or a silk or velvet cord to embellish the Christmas Season. Or worn as a unique piece of jewelry. Hung with a special photograph, possibilities are endless and I leave that up to the ability of the new owner! As usual, available from my Zen Cart powered on line boutique: Mariette's Back to Basics, see below post. My previous 925 Gilded Silver Raphael Angel Pendant only did last four hours after posting here on Blogger. There is also only one of the lace-work Cherubs in the Acrylic Frame with Transparent Acrylic Bolts & Nuts left...
One is turned backwards and the Cherub Heads are two-sided as you see.
Both crosses are identical.
Have any of you ever seen such crosses with cherubs on all four ends?
Does any of you know more about its meaning?
Please let us know!
They measure 3.5" or 7.5cm in length.
More info on my website, see below.
Sold out...

{Blogger Friend Dana Created These Lovely Ribbon Violets!}

Last year did yield quite an amount of wood violets but this year I only found 3... But look who came to the rescue? Very talented blogger friend Dana from Lambs and Ivy Designs, made me some perfect ribbon violets. Look here also on Pinterest: Lambs and Ivy Designs Ribbonwork
Dana made these perfect violets and I placed them in a heart shape. At the top I put the only three real violets that we had...
The handmade violets together with the 3 real ones on a bed of moss in our garden...
THANKS A LOT DANA!  They are so perfect.
Here are my wood violets from last year, together with a lovely silver napkin/card holder from Giovanni Raspini, Italy. These lovely angels, cherubs are available at Spectrenoir.
A lovely mini-bouquet of violets tied together with an ombré silk ribbon...
They do match my cup and saucers from Royal Albert Provincial Flowers with the Purple Violet pattern.
Available at Replacements Ltd. ←click it.
The demitasse spoons are Violet by Wallace (Sterling 1904) and also available at Replacements Ltd. Replacements Ltd. ←click it.
It is great for at least having those photos from last year's yield!
This pierced bon-bon spoon is also from Wallace in the Violet pattern.

{4th Advent}

The final Sunday of Advent is there and soon we have Christmas! Another short and speedy year... Are you having the same experience too? Especially if one is not feeling totally fit, it kind of slips through your fingers. There is no halting to time, we are forced to move forward with the masses. But again I'd like to show some Advent photos to you.
Inside our veranda, in front of the shaded windows. Shadows from the live oak cast onto the linen shades due to the sunshine we had on Saturday. The green cotton Zweigart Aida tablecloth now with a Mason's Mandalay Chartreuse plate for the brass spiral candle holders.
In the back is a group of angels looking on, all from South Tyrol, Italy.
The one on the left is a ceramic one and was a gift from Italian friend Maria from Ristorante da Maria and the others are all wooden angels from Italy.
Our healthy Sago Palm makes it look more exotic, like our years living in Indonesia where we spent Christmas in the tropics.
Seen is also the Lampe Berger with Cherub from our private collection.
All the angels - cherubs
Wishing you all a Happy 4th Advent!

{Angels & Cross Stitch for Christmas}

On November 9, I did already write about Our Living Room ANGELS - CHERUBS that have taken up permanent residence, not only for the Christmas season. All our ANGELS - CHERUBS are the REAL thing, made out of special wood and hand carved in South Tyrol, Italy. So here they are shown once more to you as they sure belong to the Christmas season.

The golden wreath we added for the Christmas season...
Quite an angelic population on our mantle...
From Bad/Münstereifel, Germany I did bring this pure linen cross stitched Christmas bow back home.
The edging of the linen band is done in gold and the hand embroidered cross stitching also used gold for the stars as well as for some contrast stitching.
Hard to capture on photo.
I've just finished a scan from this bow & stars cross stitch pattern, for those of you that are interested in it.
Look for it below and feel free to print it out.
My German friend Marlene, did bring me a second one when she and her husband Egon did visit us after their tour through Mexico.
They are hung each year in the living room from the doorknobs of the oak wall unit.
This is the scan and I put it as a larger size. The width of the linen band is 7 cm or 2.8"
The entire cross stitch pattern is 11 cm long or 4.3" so you can determine the thread count accordingly.
If you love it as much as I did at first sight, okay - here is the pattern for you.
Just a small Christmas gift from me to my loyal readers!
~~*~~
Obviously many visitors loved this... 11,044 views.
