Our Vacation at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa

On July 23 in 1998 I managed to book a flight to Hawaii on our Delta Airlines miles.
That was 60,000 miles for both of us!
Those were the days...
Flying to Hawaii is even 400 miles farther than flying to Amsterdam and it is 5 hours time difference with the East Coast.
So after a long stretch of 8.5 hours we landed.
With a shuttle we went to our Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa ←click link.
Here you see the Hyatt Regency Twin Towers...
A beautiful complex with 40 levels and over 1,200 rooms.
We both stayed in room 3461, so not quite at the top!
The Hyatt Regency Waikiki's twin towers put visitors close to the action in Waikiki.
Luxurious suites, breathtaking views, the sand, sun, and sea... all a part of Hyatt's Hawaii.
Delta Air Lines got us here FREE for 60,000 miles for both of us!
Happy, for having organized it this way...
View from our balcony...
We were in heaven!
Happy me on the balcony and wearing my Majorica pearls and I managed to purchase the 15" black pearl necklace with ring and earrings at Neiman Marcus.
These are 14 mm and also 15" as 16" is too wide for me...
Ocean view...
This is a post card with the view of Waikiki from the Sheraton Hotel Waikiki...
A DREAM!

Stay tuned for more...

Grateful to Friend Gil for Capturing Pieter's 93rd Birthday

We sure are grateful to photographer friend Gil Gillis for capturing Pieter's 93rd Birthday Dinner with Friends.
Pieter is ready for Mass and for his special Birthday Dinner following...
Wearing the very same Escada silk dress with roses, Escada patent leather sandals and Majolica pearls, that I wore for Pieter's 80th Birthday dinner with friends and family.
Pieter's Goddaughter then flew over from The Netherlands, for being here!
Wearing my special handmade bracelet, a gift from Blogger Friend: {Rose Bracelet from Enma in Spain - Blogger I Admire} ←click on link.
We were greeted by friend and Lady Chef Maria Runggaldier from Ristorante da Maria ←click on link.
She hails from Bolzano, the capital of the Province of South Tyrol in northern Italy.
Both of us were quite surprised to find our invited friend Gil Gillis, the previous owner of our local TV station, with his professional camera...
How precious for having these photos as a lasting memory!
Thank you so much Gil for you thoughtfulness!!!
Now Gil is in the group as well, standing next to me, as Tara, the young lady on the right, took over his camera.
He personally has trained Tara, to become a professional photographer herself with TheFurgPhoto ←click it.
Pieter received his dessert with a Birthday candle on it and we of course sang Happy Birthday to him.
As a Dutch touch, some white tulips in vases with pebbles, graced the table.
Ristorante da Maria
Our Menu
All in all, it was a perfect evening.
This text on a towel, wrapped around a wine bottle that Pieter received as a gift from our friends, sums it up perfectly:
THE SOUTH
Where tea is sweet
and accents are sweeter.
Summer starts in April.
Front porches are wide
and words are long.
Macaroni & Cheese is a vegetable.
Pecan Pie is a staple.
Y'all is the only proper pronoun.
Chicken is fried and
biscuits come with gravy.
Everything is "darlin"
and someone's heart is
always getting blessed.

FOND MEMORIES! 💖

Birthday in Davie, South Florida

So here we are, our 3 nights at the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale/Plantation in South Florida.
The weather was perfect all our days in Florida!
We once stayed here before, during the weekend of April 16-18 in 2011.
Starting out with this picture from the front entrance of the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale/Plantation in South Florida.
Do you see the 'skinny' palm tree trunk between the 2nd and 3rd palm tree?
That was right in front of our room on the 6th floor...
There was a hole in the broken off palm tree... we suspected a Woodpecker had taken up residence.
But look who was the palm tree resident: A cute squirrel.
He/she later hopped onto the green palm leaves of the other trees.
Quite daring at such a height!
So that's why I captured that top photo afterwards to see from where it looked out.
This photo shows said stump palm tree more clearly.
Approaching the Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills Circle in Sunrise, Florida...
Just wanted it to show on my Relive video.
It was our goodbye, as they appeared to be nearly abandoned... some of the upscale stores had closed down, as was my favorite place of Escada.
Bye bye Last Call by Neiman Marcus...
It was very easy for finding a parking space the day before.
Our entire economy is looking rather bleak; let's hope, we will live to see better years to come!
My Birthday supper at Whole Foods Market in Davie, FL
Fish (small piece as I'm only allowed very little protein intake for my CKD stage 4), some rice and veggies.
Pieter's selection of some Indian curry, fish and chicken...
Regardless of being also diabetes type 2, I did have my Birthday dessert!
A heavenly chocolate dessert, called Midnight in Miami...
It was SO GOOD!
Yes, I'm a lifelong chocoholic but most times I restrain myself, except our daily piece of dark chocolate with tea.
Wearing my set of pearls with antique silver pieces, artfully done by a dear friend that made jewelry.
Pieter enjoyed his yummy dessert, called Cappuccino...
He is lucky for never having been diabetes type 2 as he sure has a sweet tooth! 😏

Nature Trail Walk at The Bay Park in Sarasota, Florida

Coming back from our lunch with friend Jo in Osprey, Florida we went together for a walk at The Bay Park.
While Pieter was napping upon our arrival, I'd walked this very stretch myself...
The day before we both walked to Whole Foods Market for buying us some Siggi's Icelandic yogurt (because it contains little sugar) and some fresh mandarins.
The Bay Park is like paradise...
Perfect reflection in the water...
Loved the way they had information burnt into the wooden boards from the walkway.
About Florida's iconic cabbage palm (Sabal palmetto) that can live for two centuries...
Interesting history that some might have greeted the Scottish settlers in 1885!
We opted for The Bay Park →
It is very nice that there are spots with benches to rest on and for taking in the natural surroundings.
No need for running!
It also was the perfect ending of a happy day, after the lunch in Osprey with dear friend Jo.
See previous post: Lunch with a Dear Writer Friend in Osprey, Florida ←click link.
Wearing my pearl necklace and earrings with antique silver inserts, created by a dear friend.
The Bayou Bridge got donated by Bob and Lin Williams; they definitely deserve a shout out, because for their generosity so many others can indulge in this natural beauty from up close!
This for sure was not a park where you would want to hurry...
Just stopping and seeing these water birds come to their 'bedrooms'.
It was after 17:00 and remember, still winter time, as much as it affects this subtropical region.
But yes, they too felt the impact of the extreme cold from the North pushing all the way South.
In Lakeland, FL we had frost during our first night!
But like my opening image shows, those birds are near the water and sheltered inside these evergreen mangroves.
A lot of preening and also story telling about how their day went...
Just like in 2014, we made this WeFie at the Performing Arts Hall: {Sarasota Bay, Florida - Great Egret} ← click link
Wearing my black Escada jeans and only Pieter wanted to change into other shoes and thus wearing his shorts. I was comfy enough.
It was very hard with the low sun to get a WeFie without any glare... Hence that dancing sun-dot near my eye 😉
Those Bird Bedrooms in the mangrove were really filling up by now!
For both of us, this was a real BONUS!
Along the walkway, there was this area and I did step up for better viewing the birds.
The short video of it, is inside my Relive.
Pieter stayed down.
Just as I'd captured the birds in the trees on their branches for the night, I looked down and could not believe my eyes. A raccoon to the right, very close to my feet, only at the water level and a big bunny to the left!
Wish I'd captured both of them on video as well...
Our actual walking time, as captured on our Strava app was 46 minutes and 47 seconds.
Relive, however shows it as having been 1 hour and 28 minutes. Well that is all the 'stand still' time included!
We also met with a German born woman, walking her two cute Dachshunds that reminded me of my sweet Mauzie girl... We did chat for a long time!
Again at the end of the trail we could see the John Ringling Causeway Bridge towards Saint Armands Circle on Lido Key.
It was interesting to spot this very bird that we'd captured at the beginning of our one and a half hour walk/chat and indulge tour.
Now it was facing the opposite direction!
Before walking back to our hotel, I had to capture this building with so many palm trees growing in big planters on the roof top.
Enjoy my short Relive video of 1:06 minute here below!

Escada Rose Dress with Butterfly Shawl Tutorial

Just would like to show you the silk Escada Rose Dress...
Wearing it here with Butterfly Shawl
Below post you will learn how to do that yourself!
Of course wearing my Majorica pearls...
This photo perfectly reveals the sleeveless dress as the 'Butterfly' did kind of slide off...
My hair in a ponytail with a silk rose barrette...
My Pieter found me this shawl when we were at a Rotary Club District Conference and I did check out the Escada Outlet.
Was grateful for Pieter spotting it as the banquet was a very cold happening with the airconditioning setting way too low!
Wore it gratefully with my Escada silk evening dress with roses, see post below...
The butterfly has full wingspan!
Pieter in his Burberry summer wool suit with silk tie in roses...
Haha, our Speckie girl did rough-up Pieter's suede shoe, the foot he's placed foreward.
So much for living with kitties!
A better view of the silk tie with roses.
Those were always the perks of working as international consultants!
You know that I love roses and angels...
Good enough for a blissful relationship! 😉
As promised, showing you how to obtain such a butterfly shawl.
It is in the Hermès Carré book of shawls...
This is it; you tie the ends together, than turn it good side out and wear it!
Voilà!
This is from an Echo Scarf Booklet...
Works of course perfect with a wool shawl for winter time.
So that is the outfit I wore with the 'Hat Elastic' shoes from previous post!
