{Cooking Dinner for Twelve at Our Home}

Only one week after we got our new Miele Dishwasher installed I had to prepare a dinner for 12 at our home.
Imagine, cleaning all that mess and having a neat home, shopping for the ingredients and cooking...
Shopping means a 2 ½ hour drive to Atlanta, one way!
This is one table setting, in our dining room for 9.
Tabecloth is French Le Jacquard Français.
And 3 more in our bay window section in the kitchen.
Tablecloth is French Yves Delorme.
Monday, January 25...
At Costco Wholesale we did buy this great and very healthy salad.
It comes with dressing, variety of nuts and seeds!
That helps for making things easier...
These delicious wheat rolls are from Whole Foods Market
Snow Flake Rolls they are called...
(Added this photo later)
Tira-mi-su I made the evening before... A favorite dessert at our home.
I would prepare a German style dinner and as meat choice I had Pork Tenderloin, baked in the oven.
Red potatoes, just pre-boiled and then pan fried.
I did keep them warm in my 30" Miele Convection Food Warming Drawer with dual heating system. drawer in the staircase area.
It is great, getting things out of the way and ready to clean up the cook top and kitchen counter.
From Cost Plus World Market I did have this Red Cabbage Salad from Lowell foods.
And yes, I did for once cover the Le Jacquard Français tablecloth with a soft plastic that I have... This is a HUGE tablecloth, I've added a small table at the end, from the Rose Suite downstairs.
Not easy for ironing such size so this saved me from doing that.
My Pillivuyt Sancerre serving plates combined with Cream Colour on Cream Colour by Wedgwood for salad and later also the bigger round dinner plates for the main course. I kept those in my Miele plate warming drawer...
Cups & saucers from the same Wedgwood Cream Colour on Cream Colour and dessert plates for the Tira-mi-su.
Table setting for 3 in the kitchen.
Often I use the round teak table from the balcony for ourselves, set also in the kitchen.
Here no Wedgwood china is used but instead the Pillivuyt Sancerre dinner plates.
Those Pillivuyt dinner plates also went inside the plate warming drawer for the main course.
   Seltmann Weiden Mirabell White plates for the salad.
I've also learned not to use my French Baccarat crystal but instead a cheaper crystal for glasses...
Hard to capture such a longer table from above...
Flatware is Gero Zilmeta 528 Menuet and for dessert spoons silver Alvin Bridal Rose.
Sorry there are no further photos as it was only Team Vedder that did wait on these guests and no time for snapping any pictures from main course and such.
My French trolley from La Redoute, France that Pieter used in the veranda for creating a little bar...
The Baccarat crystal ice bucket with thong always comes in handy.
So that's my duty for Pieter's Monday Night Club as it is our turn to host the dinner.
The maximum I've done is cooking for 15.

I was sure glad when all was done and I also enjoyed the compliments about the food.
Next day I had severe back pain. That was mainly because that entire week, since our Miele dishwasher got finally installed and working, I had done the cleaning etc.
It is as I said above, for our home and garden, only Team Vedder!

{Tea Rose Jardins de Bagatelle}

On September 10, we happened to have a perfect single (!) Tea Rose Jardins de Bagatelle!
Yes, we are already very pleased with having ONE-SINGLE rose at the time...
Here she is!
Displayed on a Rose Silver Tray on top of my Tea Box
A REAL Tea Rose and very beautiful!
Fragrant too...

Happy Weekend

{My Very 1st Blogpost: Romancing the Home}

As usual, I forget my Blog Anniversary!
Maybe it is because of such a sad period in my life, you can read more below blog post from previous links...
Anyway, now in 2014 on November 23, I had a total of 1,205 blog posts written.
So let's go Back to Basics and show the beginning.
On November 23, 2009 I started blogging and here is my very first post:

Autumn is the time of year to turn inward again, for making the home into a warm nest where we savor the memories of summer and sunshine. All about Romancing the Home...
A few last Midas Touch roses from the garden in a lovely silver vase adorned with a silver rosebud (that will at least last all winter long!) while indulging in a cup of hot chocolate with a Bon-bon, while reading an invitation to a winter wedding on February 13th... How romantic the outlook; just a day before Valentine's Day!
After all, these special moments will pull us through the dreary winter. With the memories of warm sun rays kept alive inside our hearts, we will get to springtime again.
Romancing the Home... Indeed, trying to extend the season of roses all year long!
The yellow roses on the tablecloth are hand embroidered by me...
Detail of the silver rosebud vase with rose...

{Cherries in our Gazebo}

Do you LOVE fresh cherries as much as I do? One of summer's treats... Especially those dark Bing cherries. They are a typical June Fruit!
Here they are in a Pillivuyt strawberry bowl.
What I love about eating them in our gazebo is that you can throw the pits on the lawn...
Otherwise we use our favorite Westmark Cherry Pitter for other uses like with fresh baked waffles or pancakes.
German silver rose pastry tong...
A fun way for using fresh cherries with our Le Jacquard Français tablecloth and napkins with cherries!
Do you love to eat fresh cherries too and what is your favorite combination?

{Celery Almond Soup & Costco's Multi-Grain Crackers}

After we did check out from the Hyatt Regency Sarasota we did go to Whole Foods Market for some shopping and also to eat a healthy CELERY ALMOND SOUP. We both loved that soup so much that I have made it myself at home for you to see. Very healthy!
Served with Costco Wholesale's delicious crackers it makes for a perfect supper or lunch.
Using our Campbell's soup bowls with Alvin Bridal Rose gumbo spoons, which are so great for eating soups...
Here are the very healthy Multi-Grain Crackers from Costco Wholesale...
They come in a large box with two sealed bags inside.
Gluten free and low fat...
This is the Almond Meal from Trader Joe's that I used for the soup, together with Trader Joe's low sodium chicken broth.
I used about half a pound, for one pack of low sodium chicken broth.
Or if you want to make more, use one pound with two packs of chicken broth...
Further you need one bunch of celery stalks that you cut up in pieces.
Just cook together till the celery stalks are done, blend them with the handheld immersion blender and you have a delicious soup!
While enjoying our Celery Almond Soup at Whole Foods in Sarasota, Florida we got this Alert for a Tornado coming to the region.
We drove south, with a stop at Trader Joe's in Sarasota first, so we would have food for our apartment kitchen at the Hyatt House in Miami where we were heading next...
That Tornado did cause heavy flooding for the Tampa region.
We were so lucky with our stay, even though that morning it was too windy for swimming at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota pool... Now we knew WHY!
We will go back to Sarasota again!

{Tiny Silver Vase with Rosebud Pelargonium}

Just to give you a more precise idea about HOW tiny our Silver Repoussé Vase from my previous post: {Our Wild Violets} actually is, here it is again now filled with our Rosebud Pelargonium.
You see? There is a US quarter next to this tiny silver vase.
That vase I snatched away on eBay as it actually is the KNOB of a Victorian style walking stick or parasol!
A silver repoussé rosebud knob, that was missing its stick.
See below post some examples from Christie's.
I saw right away the use for it as it was flat at the top; now bottom when used as a vase...
Mind you, these are NOT real roses but instead our Rosebud Pelargonium...
Are they not darling looking like the real thing?!
Arranged her are the Red Rosebud and the Apple Blossom Rosebud...
Outside in the sun of our balcony...
On the balcony's teak table.
Don't you love them?
Such lovely miniature rosebuds to play with!
Now on top of our Brown Jordan Chaise...
Showing the Apple Blossom Rosebuds.
Pink edges and so beautiful.
Light does affect their color just a tad...
Are these not a dream?

Time to say goodbye!
Do you have any of these Rosebud Pelargonium?

{Our Wild Violets}

Our Wild Violets are such lovely flowers in the wood garden!
Some call them Weed Violets... But are they not LOVELY?
Hard to photograph...
Yep, getting FACE TO FACE...
Such a lovely pastel tone for the spring...
Like a bearded, hairy edge...
Are they not pretty in a tiny silver vase?

{Our Silver Muffineer Custom Made After Antique Model}

Being an International Consultant did Open Up the World to us. So no wonder that after finding in a favorite magazine a beautiful Antique Silver Muffineer, we actually could have ours Custom Made after that model!
WOW... Would you not take the opportunity?
This is IT! Don't you think it is lovely?
This was the page from the magazine with the Antique Muffineer...
Custom made for us in Kotagede, Indonesia!
Below this post you find a link about the making of silver in Kotagede.
Now, eat your heart out! Sprinkle some generous powdered sugar on your waffles, add some maple syrup and whipped cream from the tiny French ramekins.
All china is Pillivuyt France and all can be used in the oven as well!
Rose silverware is from Germany. Silber-und-Rosen-Shop might have some similar pieces...
Crystal wine glass is from Our Life in Italy. Don't know the pattern name... Wish I could find out!
Vintage linen tablecloth with roses...
Raspberries are so yummy and so are blueberries and strawberries...
A  better view of the silver muffineer and the crystal glass.
Don't know if it is from Italy but we bought it there when we were living and working in Italy.
To wet your appetite... Grade A Maple syrup to the left and whipped cream.
And YES, I do LOVE roses...!
So how did you like our Silver Muffineer and its use?
You like to have some waffles now; please have a seat in our gazebo at this table...
If only we could eat there again but WINTER is not YET OVER!
Thanks for visiting.
