Today I like to introduce you to a lovely, hand painted 20th century French porcelain Limoges pill box or Etui Nécessaire with Ormolu - gilt-metal. The hinged lid is beautiful decorated with an ormolu (gilt-metal) flower on the front. It reads on the bottom: Peint Main (Hand Painted) J.M.V. - Limoges France. This darling pill box with pink roses was available at my Zen Cart powered on line boutique: Mariette's Back to Basics. Best is you have a look at these finely crafted details...
Front of the porcelain pill box with decorative ormolu on the hinged lid, a flower as closing clasp.
The back side with a slightly different rose painting and its hinge.
A look inside with the lid opened.
Detail of the closing clasp with flower.
Showing the back side with its hinge.
I do apologize for the fingerprint I left here on the porcelain...
Lovely roses painted on the front.
Slightly different roses painted on the back.
On 21 June, 2006 Christie's did sell a beautiful group of two Limoges boxes, seen here.
Christie's sold on 28 October, 2007 a group of five gilt-metal mounted porcelain boxes and pill boxes, seen here at CHRISTIE'S.
That will give you some idea about a certain value.
More than likely it has been an Etui Nécessaire like this one, offered at Ruby Lane, just click the pink hyperlink.
