Well, a good night sleep makes you feel a whole lot different next day!
We did drive the short distance to Healesville Sanctuary.
Here Pieter is petting a Wallaby; so very cute!
Pieter is wearing the leather jacket that he purchased in February 1991 from Pond's India's Leather Garment Factory
Remember in my previous post we just had checked into the Eltham Gateway Conference Centre and
that was about 45 minutes from Healesville Sanctuary.
In 1988 we stayed in Bundoora, seen left of 1339 Main Road, Eltham Gateway.
The mushroom plant is in Mernda, at the top above 1339...
HEALESVILLE SANCTUARY
Indeed a truly AUSTRALIAN EXPERIENCE!
There also were night animals that could be seen by infra red light.
Back to the Wallaby and Pieter, with another kid that came to pet it.
One Wallaby came up to me for petting...
Petting this Wombat was very special!
Just a baby, about 5 months old as its Mama had been hit by a car...
Here is another wombat, with its hind leg stretched.
And we spotted this cute Koala up in a shrub!
Thanks for your visit and comment, stay tuned for more...

Hello Mariette, There is no question that Australia has some of the world's cutest animals. I did not know that they could become so tame that you could pet them!
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteYes you can and to us this sanctuary was also an eye opener. Love this kind of interaction with nature!
Hugs,
Mariette
Dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your photos of the visit to the Healesville Sanctuary and remember my parents went to visit this same place.
The koala is very cute.
Happy weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
Dearest Carolyn,
DeleteGlad that your parents also had this great experience!
Even the wombat is cute, at least that baby was.

Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
ReplyDeletevon meinem Besuch bei dir.
bleiben liebe Grüße hier.
Elisabeth
Liebe Elisabeth,

Liefs,
Mariette
Hi Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYes it's a good memory ! My cousin live in Melbourne with his wife and two sons. I think that we'll go to visit them.
Dearest Nathalie,
DeleteWe loved visiting at this sanctuary, knowing the animals are being cared for and still in their natural habitat.
Touching and petting them is awesome.
If you ever get a chance to visit your cousin and his family in Melbourne; go for it.
Hugs,
Mariette
Aww!! so many cute animals..
ReplyDeleteDearest Krishna,
DeleteYes, indeed very cute and accessible for petting!
Hugs,
Mariette
What a wonderful place. Wallaby is so cute! And of course koala, too :-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Tamago,
DeleteThere are lots of cuties there and it is highly educational.
We loved our time spent at the sanctuary.
Hugs,
Mariette
A wonderful visit Mariette.
ReplyDeleteExcept for wallabies and kangaroos I've never seen a koala or wombat in the wild.
Dearest Sami,
DeleteWonder if they are not as common in the southwestern part of Australia...
At least we left Australia with a rather good picture of their mammals on our retina.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,

You ought to go there once.

PS: I wonder if you'd be able to eat the oatmeal bars I made this week. Let me know, dear Mariette! I thought of you as I made them. The blog s the one right before the Kentucky Derby post -- both published last week.
ReplyDeleteDearest Debra,
DeleteLoved reading that post and those oatmeal bars look very yummy and healthy. As for me I would substitute the low glycemic index coconut palm sugar.
Hugs,
Mariette
