One of the joys in spring is always those gorgeous blossoms of the Dogwood trees. We got white ones and pink ones. One of the large flowering varieties is our Dogwood Cornus Cloud Nine.

This one has huge flowers!
They are very sensitive to rain though...
With such bright sunshine they are rather hard to capture.
This was on April 10.
The tree is rather fragile, even after 15 years of growth!
But it is also because of fierce competition for food, with so many huge trees.
This one got planted in May, 1999...

Dearest Mariette ,lovely flowers of these trees ! I can't imagine how is the pink flower .... I suppose gorgeous ! Have a nice day !
Lieve groetjes,
Mariette

Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed all your last posts and this one about your beautiful flowers and trees! It must be a real pleasure sitting in your patio overlooking your amazing garden and woodland! Especially in this season!
Enjoy the first may!!!

Beautiful Dogwood tree with such delicate pretty flower♡♡♡ In our city, this tree is used for street trees and coincidentally, I posted them p;) Yours is from your own garden!!!
ReplyDeletePS>I posted my decision that skipping to put friends name at first when I comment. As the friend's number increased, it became really tie costuming for me to check and avoid the mistake. I wish you (especially) to understand, my dear friend.
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
The flowers look like big butterfly's on the tree. The tree or bush does not look very big for its age.Are they only a short tree? We don't have them in Australia.
ReplyDeleteHugs Kay
Dearest Kay,
DeleteNo, the dogwood trees can become quite huge! We have a huge one opposite our kitchen bay window area but it's flowers are not that striking. This is a special cultivar with huge and pure white flowers.
You sure do have lots of different varieties in Australia, just check out Fleming's Nurseries - Australia's leading growers and wholesalers of deciduous ... Cornus, Cornus kousa x C. florida 'Rutban' Aurora™, Spectacular late spring ... They are even called best trees for Australia.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour dogwoods are wonderful. Ours show no sign of blooming; hopefully, the deer haven't eaten them all.

Hi Mariette, your dogwood tree is beautiful! I see lots of blooming dogwood trees in spring around here, but many have gone all green already. Your tree does look fragile among bigger trees, but glad it's survived through years and shows lovely flowers. I hope it will keep blooming for many years :-)
