We do have several different Oxalis in our garden.
These pink ones look so lovely early in spring and they bloom all through summer!
They really do spread, once you planted some little bulbs.
We used to have a giant variety as well but we lost that one...
A happy mass of Oxalis flowers!
Yes, we're zooming out...
Oxalis Triangularis or Purple Shamrock
Almost buried beneath those long pine needles in our wood garden.
Purple Shamrock with white flowers.
Do you have any in your garden?

Hi Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty Oxalis - over here in NZ we have Oxalis that grows as a weed and it is very hard to control because it comes up in the flowerbeds and the small bulbs are very hard to get rid of.
Happy weekend

Carolyn

ReplyDeleteDear Mariette, what a beautiful plant!! I like the pink color that the flowers have!!!We have the same but with yellow flowers!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures!!!Wishing you a lovely weekend!Hugs!
Dimi...
Hello Mariette, Oxalis grows so much as a wild flower that I wonder if the planted versions are larger or otherwise different. Growing up, we used to chew the leaved for their sour flavor.

Do you find the pink ones to be quite invasive. Here in Australia, we do have to be careful or they will overtake the garden very easily. They are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteHugs Kay
Lovely flowers as usual.
ReplyDeleteYour oxalis flowers are very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love the cute pink color. The close up photos are wonderful, and so is the zoomed-out photo!
Purple shamrock must be very strong to sprout through the pine needles!
lieve Mariette !!!!
Oh yes!!!!! I do have the pink oxalis in my garden, dear Mariette!! Many of them!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe hate the yellow one which is an invading weed and although we try very hard, we cannot get rid of them!!!I I also have some beautiful 'iron cross' oxalis, which I bought in Amsterdam (!), some years ago, and they are about to bloom very soon.
Your white oxalis with purple leaves is splendid!
I wish you a nice week-end!!
Many hugs!

Dearest Mariette....I love the pink of your oxalis. I have yellow varieties that are hardy. I also have the purple shamrock, but I have to grow them in pots as they don't seem to survive our winters.

ReplyDeleteNo - not in the garden. I have my purple oxalis as a pot plant. It grows and grows. I have to cut it down completely at times and then it will only take a day or two before there are new leaves again.
Hugs to you
