Last year our beautiful large blooming Clematis Lanuginosa Candida was wilting away... When I made a photo of its blossoms I was shocked to see their shrunken size. So husband Pieter did dig up the plant as it was in the shade, near the big trees... NOT good.
Here a proud Pieter shows off his prized Clematis Lanuginosa Candida in 1996...
That one was a DREAM!
It grew against the front porch balusters from Vintage Woodworks...
Something to really admire...
The same abundance in 1997, but we lost that one.
Pieter however always maintained to keep a baby alive.
Last year that baby was not thriving...
Now look how happy it is this year!

It is back to its usual size of up to 9" across!
It now resides up against the balcony, on the driveway side.
We hope it will be as beautiful as its grandparents were in previous years!

such gorgeous blooms! i hope the replant does well!
ReplyDeleteDearest Theresa,
DeleteOh, if the replant will ever be that huge we can make the happy dance!
Hugs,
Mariette
Loved seeing the photos of you and Pieter and wow your Clematis is gorgeous! So glad that you were able to bring it back to its glorious beauty. Wishing you a blessed week, HUgs, Celia M. (HHL)
ReplyDeleteDearest Celia,
DeleteThank you and we sure are glad Pieter could rescue it! It was not happy when too much in the shade and we also think that trees work antagonistic against certain plants. Fierce competition for life and now it has space.
Hugs,
Mariette
The blossoms of your clematis lanuginosa candida from 1996 and 1997 were amazing! So gorgeous and beautiful. It's really like a dream!! I hope the will do great this year :-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Tamago,
DeleteOh we both are so glad we got these photos still. The ones I used here above, I had scanned this winter form slides... So I can finally post them too; such flowers were a DREAM. We hope for the best with the new one, well, rescued from its death. So far it did very well and maybe even better next year when it regained full strength.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
I do hope it likes it's new home. I'm sure it will be treated well.
ReplyDeleteHugs Kay
Dearest Kay,
DeleteWe too hope that it does like this spot; far better than the one it was in last year...
As far as treating it well, you can rest assured but in the front of the house for whatever reason it died.
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow, your beautiful clematis lanuginosa candida♡♡♡ And LOVELY to see you two with it at its full bloom, Mariette. How wonderful that your husband bring it back like that. I love the way you said that 'as beautiful as its grandparents were in previous years'.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are not feeling too hot. We are having rainy weather due to the typhoon (not the wind yet). Have a wonderful rest of the week.
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Miyako,
DeleteThank you and don't you just love such blooms?! We hope for a repeat by this grandchild... just crossing our fingers it will work again.
No, we have had rather cloudy days and not so hot due to hurricane Bertha being in the area. We were hoping for some sunny days to enjoy our balcony but we will see how the week goes.
Hugs and love from your American friend!
Mariette
Hi, Dearest Mariette; as for threshing machine, it is from Japanese maker I remember it. My husband said that it is interesting to know you also remember the same kind of machine♪
DeleteSincerely from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

Dearest Michiko,
DeleteIndeed let us hope that our newest clematis will once be as gloriously blooming like its grandparent! Not all years are good for plants; it depends on the weather and temperature.
Hugs, love and admiration to you!
Mariette

Prachtige Clematis Mariette. Hopelijk wordt de kleine net zo mooi. Fijne week, lieve groet
ReplyDeleteBeste Willy,
DeleteJa dat hopen we van ganser harte!
Liefs en een zonnige dag.
Mariette
Liefs,
Mariette
Good Morning Mariette, My word, the first Clematis was so beautiful and it looked perfect growing up your tree.... what a shame the flowers reduced in size.
ReplyDelete....but now, because of Pieter's expertise and patience, you will have flowers in abundance growing up the wall towards your balcony.
I love the photograph of both you and Pieter and your blue and white outfit looks beautiful. I love the slim fitting jacket, it really suits you.
Have a lovely day today.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Dearest Daphne,
DeleteThis tall and beautiful one grew up against the corner post of our balusters... No tree was competing with it there. Its offspring got planted near a tree and almost wilted. But Pieter dug it up last year after summer and it is happy. We hope the best for having it look like its ancestor!
Thank you for your compliment; yes it is great to come out of Mass on Sundays and making the rounds through the garden.
Happy remainder of the week with sunshine!
Hugs,
Mariette
Dear Mariette, you and Pietre are such a lovely couple!Wow!I adore your white Clematis!
ReplyDeleteI hope the best with the new plant!Have a wonderful week!Hugs!
Dimi...
Dearest Dimi,
DeleteThank you and yes on Sundays we do look our very best when we go to Church. It makes one feel proud of all the work and taking a day to rest and enjoy and be grateful.
We sure hope the new plant will thrive like its ancestor.
Hugs,
Mariette
Lieve Mariette,
Liefs,
Mariette
Wow really beautiful my friend.....
ReplyDeleteHope your doing and feeling well sweetie ;-)
Hugs~
Mari
Dearest Mari,
DeleteThank you, she is a beauty!
Yes, I am doing great and we both are enjoying more time to relax and socialize with friends after Pieter got all the big projects done.
Hugs,
Mariette
What a gorgeous clematis !!!!!! I am sure that with Pieter's care, the new baby will reach the size and splendor of the old one now that it is planted on the right spot!
ReplyDeleteMany hugs, dearest Mariette!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Sunday.
