{Variegated Blue Flax Lily}

On our new patio we also do have two Variegated Blue Flax Lilies. Let me show you the one that has tiny  blue flowers. They were rather tricky to photograph but I got some photos to share with you...
As mentioned above, they are rather tiny!
This gives you more an idea of the entire pot plant and the tiny flowers...
Beautiful variegated leaves, that in itself is already striking enough.
But such a lovely bloomer too; almost continuously and in winter they ought to show blue berries as well.
So pretty how they open from closed buds into a lovely blue flower...
Really fragile looking...
Looking now towards the street.
Do any of you have this Variegated Flax Lily?

    1. Dearest Tammy,
Guess you are right about that about your area. It is a bit more sheltered from the hot sun on our front patio as most of the afternoon it is in the shade.
      Enjoy your week as well.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

Guess both of us have inherited the genes of our Parents that were market gardeners. We just love to do it, however hard in this climate and the potting soil quality often is so poor...
      Hugs,

  4. Very beautiful little flowers, with that exquisite fragile look!
Quite a contrast with the leaves so much sturdier.
It is a discovery for me.
Keep well Mariette, have a great week!

As far as I read, this originally is from New Zealand so it is not far off from Australia. Nowadays most exotic plants have become available the world over.
We have yet to discover its vivid blue berries in winter time. Looking forward to that stage.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

      Liefs,

You are right about that, compared to their rather broad and coarse leaves those blue flowers are rather tiny.

  18. Good Morning, Mariette♪ How lovely your Blue Flax Lilies is♡♡♡ It sure look tiny but its flowers are so elegant. Contrast of buds and the sweet flowers in your pictures are wonderful:-)

ps> oh yes, we use nanten for New Year's flower arrangement often as it brings good luck. 南天(→難転) original character can be written different way and each one means "hardship; turn". Reminds me of the proverb 'Bad luck often brings good luck.' :-)

Good morning for you; not for us here... you are 13 hours ahead of us in summer time and 14 hours in winter time.
But yes, a surprising tiny flower and we are lucky that via photo we get to see it in its full beauty!
The nanten given to me did bring our group lots of luck; we got all out one day ahead of schedule and even with that tsunami being a minor one - who knows ahead of time?! Plus the two major Japanese holidays in July... we would have been stuck for sure.
Many hugs to you from across the ocean, more than half-way around the world in Georgia/USA.

ich kenne nur den uralten Lein/Flachs, aus dem der Stoff hergestellt wird, aber hier steht 'Lily' eine Lilienart? Dann sind beide auch nicht verwandt?
