{Oakleaf Hydrangea}

We did have a potting plant in the greenhouse with an Oakleaf Hydrangea in it. So that too came out to live on the patio by mid april.
Happily blooming on the patio!
Look how huge its leafs were on April 4, while still residing inside the greenhouse.
My hand for comparison...
For adding some potting soil, re-potting and bringing them up the hill towards the gazebo and the house, this utility cart is very practical. Even for attaching it behind the John Deere lawn mower.
Walking downhill with potting plants inside goes far easier than pulling it uphill...
Over the year we need lots of potting soil as our local soil is very poor.
Still, the greenhouse + potting soil and some tender care does yield this!
Always rewarding to see things bloom!

We both love these flowers very much and it blooms rather early.
That cart is really great for carting things around!

  2. Dearest friend...you sure have a great 'green thumb!' You have a lovely garden with lovely blooms you, yourself take care of. Your cart is also adorable and yes, very practical. When I had a huge garden many years ago, how I wish I had one like it.

Have a fun Summer weekend, along with dear Pieter.

  5. Kan die niet gewoon buiten daar? .

      Liefs,
      Mariette

  7. Beautiful flowers and the little cart is so handy.
My husband comes from the Azores islands where Hydrangeas flower by the roadsides - pinks, violets, whites....
I have had 3 hydrangeas in my garden for a couple of years but they never flowered. I have to keep them in the shade because the sun is too strong for them, so that could be the reason?

    1. Dearest Sami,
Yeah, they love the warm, but above all the very humid climate. In Indonesia you saw thousands of them, lined along the entrance road of the company we used to work for. We learned one thing that they need LOTS of water, with their huge leaves they have quite a surface for fast evaporation! When they have to compete with nearby big trees, it also is hard for keeping them 'happy' and that's the main reason we potted this one.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  8. Dearest Mariette,
I have never seen an oakleaf hydrangea before yours. What a pretty plants. Sincw you winter it in your greenhouse, I assume that it is not hardy.
I have the same cart that I bought so many years ago that it's beginning to fall apart. It's small enough for me to handle easily but big and sturdy enough to carry lots of stuff.
We had over two inches of rain last week; I hope you are getting some soon. It always amazes me how quickly Mother Nature can go from wet to dry!
    Enjoy the week end..........*s*

    1. Dearest Suzi,
Yes, it is hardy but we got ours as a baby and did not want to plant it before winter to endure the cold. So we pampered it inside our greenhouse and we got rewarded with very happy 'huge' leaves!
Oh, without such a utility cart it is nearly impossible to carry all the weight that is required for gardening throughout the year.
We hope for some rain as well and yes, from one extreme into the other can happen quite fast.
Happy weekend to you and sending you hugs,
      Mariette
