On Sunday, December 9 of 1984 we drove South on Interstate I-95 and spent the night at Scottish Inn, St. Augustine.
On Monday, we continued towards Fort Lauderdale and did stop at Kennedy Space Center and did admire the interesting rockets and space shuttles near the Visitor Center.
You needed to buy a ticket in order to tour by bus the rest but we did travel on...
Here I stand, together with Mauzie girl our dachshund.
Unreal the length of such a Space Shuttle... Me with Mauzie to the right.
One can only admire NASA for having accomplished this!

We're in Florida — the Sunshine State!
In the distance, over the water, you see one of the huge buildings where you can visit when getting the tour by bus.
We would be back here; many times that is, with our guests–family and friends.
Below the tree, to the right on the water's edge is a Great Blue Heron.
Those are mainly scanned negatives, done with the Kodak Negative and Slide Scanner.
On to Fort Lauderdale... stay tuned!

You standing by the rocket gives a good idea as to size.
ReplyDeleteGod bless always.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteYes, it is always good to have an idea about the true size!
Hugs,
Mariette
That must have been incredible, Mariette! They're massive! I've always wondered if rockets would have a different shape if women designed them, though. LOL.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kim,
DeleteOh you bet how thrilled we both were to actually see those.
It would not matter if those engineers were women or men, the shape is related to the size of those propellants.
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow! What an interesting place!
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteYou bet that it was interesting for us as new immigrants!
Hugs,
Mariette
Abrazos,
Mariette
I've never been there - never been to Florida. Looks like a place I would enjoy.
ReplyDeleteDearest Debby,
DeleteYes, it is a wonderful place for every American to go and see.
Their tour is absolutely fantastic and puts you a lot closer to what humans are capable of.
Hugs,
Mariette
The engineering behind these devices is impressive. It was certainly an interesting and different visit.

Dearest Christina,
DeleteOh, this was such a wonderful experience for both of us!
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow... that close up gives an idea how big the rocket really is.
ReplyDeleteDearest Haddock,
DeleteYes, we often need a true feeling of size for placing something nearby to compare.
Hugs,
Mariette
