A real vacation day for both of us!
We had a delicious breakfast at Jenny Lake Lodge Dining Room, forgot to make any photos.
Photo is taken after breakfast, right outside of the Jenny Lake Lodge Dining Room
The Grand Tetons are the youngest mountain ranges in the Rocky Mountain chain!
The Grand Teton National Park got established 2 months before my Pieter got born...
Both are treasures!
Grand Tetons 13,770 ft or 4,197 m.
And LOOK at the weather we were enjoying... 😏
Even though you see that nights are cool up in the mountains!
Only 7°C or 44°F and when we both walked over to the Dining Room it was 16°C or 61°F
It would be 28°C or 82°F today!
From the dining room in the main cabin at Jenny Lake Lodge we walked back to our log cabin and enjoyed these purple lupine wildflowers.
And more lovely wildflowers; don't know what these are called... If anyone knows; please leave a comment—thanks in advance!
We went to the next town, in Moose, WY for gassing up at Phillips 66 our car for tomorrow's drive.
Only a 20 minute drive or 12.7 miles, 20.5 km.
Did stop at this pullout, for reading the board's info and for capturing the above video.
The Cathedral Group as it is called.
Also we had to move out from our Alpine Aster Freestanding Cabin into the Sunflower Parlor Suite Cabin, as there were no 2 consecutive nights in either one of them...
Still feel lucky for having managed to book this, as they accept reservations one year ahead of time!
That means that most cabins are booked very early on.
They have horses and bikes... See bottom: to stables and where the x is placed, the bikes are.
Around 13:30 in our new Parlor Suite Cabin.
All luxuries were there, including a mini fridge.
These log cabins are very rustic looking and have wooden floors as well.
It was fun for seeing our car parked right behind the headboard of our King–size bed...
Those quilts are handmade and their down pillows, down duvet and soft all cotton bed linens are superb.
We could have 'vacationed' there for a week or more—BUT time was another issue, with our kitties wanting us home.
Pieter did test the bed right away and had a very good nap–time!

Jenny Lake Lodge, located at the foot of the Tetons. What looks like a big collection of Old West cabins on the outside is a AAA four–diamond resort on the inside, offering full gourmet breakfasts, nightly five–course meals...
As published in USA Today Best hidden gem travel destinations in every state ←click for link and scroll down to 'W' from Wyoming.
Around 15:50 we had found us some bikes for biking together.
No electra bikes and just simple one speed bikes with back–pedal brakes...
Sure had to get used to that first!
Our surroundings looked like a DREAM
Around 16:10 at Jenny Lake
Jenny was the Shoshone Indian wife of Richard "Beaver Dick" Leigh, a trapper who served as guide for the 1872 Hayden Expedition (the geological survey).
Biker Pieter J.C. Vedder posing in front of Jenny Lake
The wife of Pieter J.C. Vedder overlooking Jenny Lake...
We biked until we reached the Teton Park Road and then turned back onto Jenny Lake Road.
What a majestic view (NOT me...😉).
WISH we could have rolled around here more extensive and on our own electra bikes!
Spotted some ripe huckleberries...
Snapdragon
The different log cabins with their names for finding the way home...
SUNFLOWER is ours.
Sunflower and our Infiniti QX50 is parked right behind our bedroom.
Our freestanding Parlor Suite Cabin.
Left window is one of three windows in our bedroom and to the right is the living room with also three windows on each side.
Ro the right of the entrance door is again a sign with Sunflower on.
Jenny Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park ←short 3 minute video showing the Sunflower Parlor Suite Cabin from the inside...
Our 8.60 km or 5.3 mi bike ride alongside Jenny Lake in Wyoming
We biked at an elevation of over 2,000 m or 6,562 ft!
Look at the surrounding mountains' elevation...
It was a heavenly ride; not for the bikes but the VIEW!
We again had our confirmed reservation for our final five course dinner at Jenny Lake Lodge Dining Room
We had a refreshing shower, using their luxury amenities and changed, also wearing a vest as it cools down rapidly after dark!
Appetizers and Soups
Pieter enjoying a local beer!
My choice of appetizer was Grilled Pacific Oyster
Willapa Bay oyster, raifort, mignonette, lemon
Well, I REFUSED to capture Pieter's choice.
How DARE he order Pan Seared Foie Gras?
And THAT while we have our own Kwekkie, a white duck that adopted Pieter while I was in The Netherlands...
We both enjoyed a delicious
Roasted Red Pepper Bisque
Roasted Red Pepper Bisque
Crème Fraîche, spicy Local Micro Green
Both of us again opted for the delicious Jenny Lake Signature Salad
For me Seared Skuna Bay Salmon
Sous Vide dill salmon, beluga lentils, lemon chardonnay cream
Pieter had Jidori Chicken Marsala
Oyster Mushrooms, Marsala wine, arborio rice, asparagus
Dessert Menu
Pieter opted for Huckleberry Ice Cream and received a double portion of it 😊
And for me the Seasonal Berry Pavlova
Toasted merinque, crème Anglaise
View of the dining room and two of Jenny Lake Lodge Dining Room's courteous and efficient waiters!
Lots of kudos to a great Dining Room team; in and outside the kitchen.
A pleasure to dine that way.
Happy and my ONLY RELAXED day came to an end...
But IN STYLE!
Both of us do highly recommend Jenny Lake Lodge and Jenny Lake Lodge Dining Room
Chef Jedediah Dzimiera deserved once more kudos for all 5 courses, including his Pastry Chef.
We happily walked back to our luxurious log cabin for a good night sleep.
Stay tuned for our next journey...
Enjoy this 1 minute Relive video:
Mariette
Oh, what a beautiful place, Mariette! I'm so glad you all had such a great vacation.
ReplyDeleteDearest Martha Jane,
DeleteThat one–day true vacation for me as a full–time driver was a marvelous one!
It was all worth it for getting here, a dream for nature lovers.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hi Mariette! Great landscapes.
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteOh, the best landscapes one could imagine under such blue sky.
Hugs,
Mariette
Looks dreamy.

Dearest Regine,
DeleteIt sure was calming to be back in pure nature with clean air, water and sky.
As for being dreamy; we slept like a rose!
Hugs,
Mariette
Wat hadden jullie een fijne vakantie.prachtig.
ReplyDeleteLieve Ellie,

Liefs,
Mariette
I liked the photos bit hard for me to read this morning
ReplyDeleteDearest. Jo-Anne,
DeleteThank you for trying!
Hugs,
Mariette
Those mountains... That lake... WOW!
ReplyDeleteNature at it's best! I hope you keep enjoying your trip and I wish I had so much energy as you and Pieter have. Can you believe I don't know how to ride a bike? Sshhhh, don't tell anyone! And don't tell Kwekkie about Pieter's choice of appetizer. ;)
Have a wonderful trip, Mariette and Pieter!
Dearest Paula,
DeleteIt was an absolute WOW location!
Slowly I'm recovering of this mega trip's driving but I certainly enjoyed being there together with my Pieter.
Both of us are lucky for having learned to bike as a young child and that's how we continue.
NEVER will I tell Kwekkie about Pieter's choice—she was in our garage this morning together with the kitties. She's now part of the family.
Hugs,
Mariette
How wonderful. I love wooden cabins. I am following your trip/adventure with great enthusiasm.

Dearest Christina,
DeleteYes, all this was way above expectations.
Perfect luxury wooden cabins and they belong there.
Glad you enjoy following us on this adventure into the West.
Hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful area. I used to go fishing around there with my dad as a teenager. I haven't been there since I was in my twenties.
ReplyDeleteDearest Debby,
DeleteOh, that pristine nature is unbelievable and you were lucky for being there with your Dad as a teenager! Bet you have fond memories and hoping there are pictures from those happy times.
Hugs,
Mariette
What a beautiful place to visit and to go cycling. The lodge looked superb and I bet the food and service were excellent.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteThe road to this heavenly place was long but it was so worth being here!
One could not think of a better place in many ways.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hi again, Mariette!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment and I meant everything I said in my post.
Your blog inspires me SO much, and I see so much of Nuno and I in you and Pieter. I know what it feels like to live for each other, to be scared to loose our loved one, our other half and love our husband with our whole heart and I hope that one day, we can say that we lived such a full and blessed live as the two of you.
I love to see pictures of your decor, because it's so beautiful and one can see it wasn't styled with other's tastes in mind, but yours and Pieter's. It's composed of things that bring you both sweet memories and I'm learning to curate our home and decorate only with those things that bring Nuno and I, joy and good memories.
I once belonged to the "herd", as you said, of those that buy just because it's fashionable and I grew tired of that. I started to understand that one must choose quality over quantity in EVERYTHING and choose what suits us and makes our lives better, not what suits other people.
So, thank you once again, Mariette and Pieter, for being such roll models to all of us that read your blog and if you don't mind, I'm going to think of you as my adoptive blog mother, because you are a roll model to me!
Have a wonderful resting day, Mariette and Pieter!
:)
Dearest Paula,
DeleteYou are so very deserving of what I wrote on your post and I mean it!
So happy that what we did, created or written down has inspires you and Nuno. Pieter loves reading it for reflecting on the moments that went before certain renovations got achieved or whatever.
We certainly have never put ourselves first, always tried to mean something for others, family and friends. For supporting my Parents in paying their airfare many times over and then for showing them our great country with pride. We did so for my brother and sister who came here to stay with us for four weeks.
Sure I don't mind being your blog mother and role model; what an honor from the words of such a great writer as you are.
Yes, travels do teach us a lot about life, meeting others and often opening our eyes for seeing life and its values more clearly.
We all are in this world together and we can support each other for reaching our final destination; back to our Creator who made us and supports us along the way—if we only acknowledge Him. And boy, did this mega–trip underline the existence of such a Majesty.
Hugs to you and Nuno,
Pieter and Mariette

DeleteSuch a wonderful vacation, Mariette.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to stay in a wooden cabin.
Hugs and blessings, my dearest friend.
Dearest Veronica,
DeleteThank you and yes, this was the most western destination for us, in a heavenly surrounding I must say.
So happy for having reached it and for being able to get our two nights booked here!
Hugs,
Mariette
Fate sempre dei viaggi meravigliosi!Ciao
ReplyDeleteCara Olga,
DeleteQuesto è stato un sogno di lunga data e l'ho fatto ora posso ancora farlo ...
Abbracci,
