Here I would love to share with you our travels and adventures as international mushroom consultants. MEMOIRS about husband Pieter Vedder, who was a SCIENTIFIC PIONEER in Mushroom Cultivation Education. {Centipede Grass Sods}

In October when husband Pieter did remove the HUGE Indian Hawthorn and also got rid of all the rattlesnake weeds, he did sow a mix of grass.
From Home Depot, Pieter did haul back home several sods, on a piece of ply wood on the bike rack behind our Toyota RAV4...
Supervisor Spooky boy is watching that it is getting laid straight!
This photo is from October 31, 2015 where some of the grass seed did actually come up but it died already in the spring.
The Centipede that was supposed to be mixed in, did never come up.
This was the reason that we had to dig up all our Azaleas since it got infested by this pesky Rattlesnakeweed or Hieracium venosum L.
Several loads and often they did run out of sods at Home Depot...
Keeping the ones that already got laid alive was also a struggle in mid June.
Sods that have been on pallets for days, seem to turn yellowish...
Light and water helps to change that quickly.
Row by row...
While we were in Florida, our cat sitter did turn on the sprinklers a lot so it is growing now and it has been mowed already.
Hoping to get this added section of lawn in good shape over time.
In the shade of our huge Magnolia tree, grass will not likely grow, so that has been left bare but grass will spread out.
Centipede is a grass variety that stands the heat and in winter it turns completely brown. That's a time that I hate.. looking so dreary!

Thanks for your visit!

{Our 2nd New Miele Dishwasher Arrived}

Yep, January 18 of 2016 was the happy day that finally our replacement New Miele Dishwasher Arrived!
Same procedure as on December 28...
Pieter in our Toyota RAV4 functioned as the pilot car, guiding this 18-wheeler into our subdivision.
This truck did have at least a lift.
Here it comes!
We had already taken the non-working one out of its opening...
There is the non-functioning Miele Dishwasher, waiting to be crated into the box from the 2nd one.
Here is the 2nd New Miele Dishwasher; inside our kitchen!
Now the exciting time for getting it out, placing and connecting it and seeing if THIS will work!
Pieter working on the water connections.
Since Pieter did not fit into this drawer opening for guiding the drain hose, I had to get inside.
It is almost inside...
The tile baseboard needs still to be put back etc.
It got leveled and IT WORKS!
Cheering after so many months with problems.
And finally I can start doing some much needed thorough cleaning!

{Old Miele Dishwasher on Bike Rack}

Okay, on December 29, the day after our New Miele Dishwasher got delivered, husband Pieter did go ahead and strap our Old Miele Dishwasher on our Toyota RAV4's Bike Rack...
We both did haul it out of the front door, it sat in the hall way and over this brick path to the car.
We were lucky that it worked out this way since otherwise we would have no means of transportation for dropping it off at the Recycle Center.
Yes, we have to drop off ALL our garbage ourselves.
We live just outside of the City Limits so there is no City Garbage Collection...
You can hire a private company that does that weekly but we live on a very strict budget and we don't like to have ALL garbage put together.
We recycle as much as we can by separating things!
Looking rather trashy...
But this is how we transport all our things, week after week.
Yeah, this was the culprit of our old October 19, 1998 Miele Dishwasher giving up...
I bet that in the USA and maybe also in Canada, a lot of people do have to drop things off at a recycle center.

{Our New Miele Dishwasher Arrived}

Well, as in every household, appliances do quit working and we need to replace them.
Such was the case with our Miele USA  dishwasher that we installed on October 19, 1998 so it had held up for quite a while.
We did manage to keep it going, a cycle took hours longer to complete and finally it no longer did drain.
So on December 28, 2015 the delivery truck rolled in and we helped unload our new Miele Dishwasher.
Yes, husband Pieter was a pilot car in our little Toyota RAV4, to guide this 18-wheeler into our subdivision.
But we were happy, after Christmas and now we finally would get our new Miele Dishwasher!
Here it is, out of the crated box and in front of the defect one.
You can see a tea towel hanging over the chair, finally we would get relief from hand washing everything.
All excited!
ENERGY GUIDE looking really good!
It is an Energy Star appliance.

BUT... this one did not work!
Poor husband Pieter took it out and in about three times and we video taped the water flow, because the Miele people in Boca Raton, Florida thought there is not enough pressure or water volume.
Once they received the video, they were convinced.
They promised to ship another one...
That was not a happy ending of 2015!

Will be continued; stay tuned.

{Time for Biking}

SO very happy that again we both find time to bike together on our new Schwinn Bikes!
Today we together took off, bikes on the bike rack of our Toyota RAV4, to a reasonable flat area where we could bike.
We do live in the Holly Hills subdivision, so that explains a lot!
This photo is from August 1, 2015 when I just got my new white Schwinn bike!
It took us almost one month and lots of mileage for getting it...
A horror story from K-Mart with once the wrong one sent and not willing/able to deliver to the local store but one hour driving distance away.
But finally it came!
Here, Pieter put it on our bike rack, behind our Toyota RAV4.
Yes, I opted for this white Schwinn Discover 700c Womens Bike with 21 speeds
It is in aluminum and weighs only 45.6 lbs or 20.7 kg
Spokes are steel...
I loved the color white!
It made me very happy!
The only negative aspect is that now we have the bike rack mounted on the back of our Toyota RAV4 and loading and unloading when we do shopping with this one (rarely!) is a bit tricky...
I literally have to hang over the seat (after the head support has been pulled off) and hand things to Pieter...
So here we go; both bikes on the bike rack!
This photo is from October 30, 2015 when we still could ride our bikes.
Pieter holding my Schwinn and his Schwinn (not aluminum and thus a bit heavier).
We park our Toyota RAV4 and cycle in a more flat and quiet area, hardly any traffic!
Left there were peanuts before and now cotton is being sown.
Pine trees on the other side... In the distance you can se our white Toyota RAV4 being parked.
We only paddled some 9 km or 5 mi and that is enough for an 87-year old heart patient! Even for me, building up my leg muscles again from too much sedentary life lately. We take twice a rest and drink water.
But it sure feels great for being surrounded by nature and for using your muscles!
Those pine trees will eventually get cut for the pulp wood industry.
Last week when Pieter wheeled by himself, he saw this snake on the road, being run over by a car...
When we got home around 5:00 PM it still was 32°C or 90°F

{'Ravy', My Toyota RAV4 is 18 today!}

WOW, quite a milestone for my cute ute Toyota RAV4 that turns 18 today!
Still running very happily for us and we love it.
That's me next to my 'Ravy' on July 4th.
We just had come back from a lunch near the river with friends.
The garden looks very lush as we had a heavy thunderstorm with lots of rain!
Barty comes to sniff out where 'Ravy' has been, in the woods...

{Our Brown Jordan Chaise & Wolford Bathing Suit Score}

Don't know about you, but things in life seldom go as planned... at least not for both of us.
After Pieter finished last year with the tiles on our balcony, we did order a Brown Jordan Chaise after we fell in love with it at the HYATT house Atlanta/Cobb Galleria during our stay of July 17.
First we had to search the internet and than order ONE.
The question over and over was; how many do you need for your resort?!
It took all summer though... On September 24, finally we drove to Atlanta to the warehouse where it had been delivered. I came back with this very chaise on TOP of my cute ute; the now 17-year old Ravy, my Toyota RAV4!
BUT no more summer use for 2013, only this year after a LONG wait because of a wet spring and big part of the summer, I got to use our new Brown Jordan Chaise!
This is it; different color frame however.
Ours is: Brown Jordan Patio Stacking Adjustable Flight Chaise 3940-7000 in White Lite color 055 with Versatex Mesh in Latte 1079
Yep, that's me wearing my Outlet Score from May 3, when we went to The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, Florida...
Just keep in mind that I am 3 x the age of your average model of 21 years young!
The sun is way too harsh to even look...
My natural gray hair; never ever used any dye...
THIS is a professional model and a lot younger!
But this triple-age girl was mighty proud for having snatched up a Wolford Forming Swimbody in Black, size Small, in cup B, with a whopping 75% Rebate!
Now that's what I call Outlet Scores; high quality for a steal.
Yep, my Egyptian feet...
Now each of us has a chaise on the balcony...
Love this new Brown Jordan Chaise & my Wolford Bathing Suit!
I had to laugh because: Wolford will discontinue its swimwear in spring 2015 (just click it)
Even though, I never will be making over–time on the balcony like this...
