We now have arrived at Jammu & Kashmir State in the north of India.
Husband Pieter is standing here next to the MUSHROOMS sign.
This is in Gulmarg, Jammu & Kashmir.
Again, snow capped Himalayan mountains in the back...
Good 1:32 minute video: Gulmarg Gondola - World's 2nd highest cable car in Kashmir
The sign MUSHROOMS is just visible to the left...
Snow capped mountains are more visible here.
See some of its natural beauty in this short 1:37 minute video: Road to Gulmarg
At the very top, you can see Jammu & Kashmir State
Srinagar is the summer capital.
Capital Jammu in winter time and offices all leave Srinagar...
Here you see the Kashmir Valley with Gulmarg to the left.
This photo is taken from the air, flying from the winter capital of Jammu over the huge Tawi River.
Thanks to Google maps ←(click it) we can have a second look from the air!
Hope you enjoyed arriving in Jammu & Kashmir State, India.
Next chapter we will go to Srinagar in J & K State!

Ik vind luchtfoto's altijd leuk om te zien. De rivier is inderdaad enorm groot.
ReplyDeleteBeste Marianne,
DeleteJa, zo'n enorme rivier is ook de levens slagader voor zo'n land met overbevolking. Vruchtbare gronden en wáter.
Liefs,
Mariette
With all of my travels. I have never made it to India. Altough one of my son in laws is headed there this month (business) He will visit southern India though. Very exotic place. thanks for posting. janey
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
DeleteWell, this was not a leisure travel trip but a follow up on H.R.H. Prince Claus's Mission for Development Projects in the agricultural and horticultural area of India. Pieter was sent by the Government as Mushroom expert. Both of us worked for the Government at that time... Pieter founded and headed the practical training college about mushroom growing.
We both have worked as mushroom consultants for Pond's in India for over a decade.
Your son-in-law will no doubt enjoy it and we hope he loves the food as much as we do!
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful post. I get to see parts of my country through a blogger friend's travels. Wow!
The Mushroom sign with your hubby is so outstanding.
The job that you guys are doing is something that will yield benefits for generations to come.
Best wishes !
Dearest Munir,
DeleteThank you and glad you enjoy seeing parts of your vast country. It is nearly impossible for visiting all of India as it is such a huge area. I've never been to the north either but to me the photos and Pieter's stories are like I've been there too. We sure loved working in India as consultants for over a decade and guess we did touch some people's lives.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dear Mariette,Pieter's trip to India was very interesting indeed!

Hugs and happy week for you as well!
Mariette
The photo taken from air is quite dynamic! Love that photo and also the one where your husband Pieter is standing next to Mushrooms sign :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, Mariette!
Dearest Tamago,
DeleteMost photos taken from a plane are not so good but this one gives indeed a spectacular view from the area. Glad that someone took a photo of my husband and next to the word Mushrooms has so much meaning.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
ReplyDeletedas sind wieder beeindruckende Fotos. Man bekommt Fernweh.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour husband Pieter is in Mushroomo & photo but taken from the Air in experts.
Hugs and happy with both of you.
Michiko
Dearest Michiko,
DeleteThank you very much and glad that someone took Pieter's photo next to the Mushrooms sign and he did a great job in taking that photo from the air.
Hugs and love to you,
Mariette
I hope you both went skiing there.. although I guess that might not happen so much in a poor country.
ReplyDeleteHugs Kay
Dearest Kay,
DeleteSorry but the title of this post is: {Part VII of Husband Pieter's Trip to India - Gulmarg, Jammu & Kashmir}.
This was NOT at all a tourist trip or a vacation but a serious consulting trip, carrying out H.R.H. Prince Clause's Mission. Gulmarg is a very popular ski resort indeed! Don't underestimate India with its huge population as they have no doubt more wealthy people than e.g. Australia has.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette; The photo your husband standing next to Mushrooms sign is fantastic locating top of the this post♡♡♡ The panoramic picture from the air is also GORGEOUS, Dear friend.
ReplyDeleteSending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*

Mariette

Dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting life that Pieter (and you) have lived - traveling all over the world while earning a living. Lovely views of the Kashmir Mountains and the river. Pieter looks so young and handsome <3
xo Karen
Dearest Karen,
DeleteWell, this very trip had such a tremendous impact on Pieter's life and having worked in India for a decade did certainly change both of our lives in a big way.
The natural beauty is just breathtaking!
Pieter was still young here in 1982; that's 33 years ago...
Hugs,
Mariette
Mariette thank you so much for sharing all of this beauty! Pieter is such an adventurer, I love to see and hear about these travels!
