{Hibiscus moscheutos Luna White}

In our garden we do have a very large variety of Hibiscus; the Hibiscus moscheutos Luna White, which can have dinner plate-sized, hollyhock-like flowers up to 8 inches or 20 cm in diameter. Its flowers are white with very dark red centers...
This photo from June 30, does show the spots where rain drops fell... We had lots of rain all summer.
There obviously is also an insect eating away all the green of its leaves, see to the left!
These Hibiscus moscheutos Luna White are quite a show!
Husband Pieter took these photos around 10:30 AM...
Again, lots of pollen for the hummingbirds, bees and butterflies.
Plenty of new buds shown here!
Lovely dark red center!

  1. Hello Mariette, Those flowers look other-worldly. Another triumph for your garden, even with a few bites out of the leaves.

Indeed, those are the things we really enjoy. We never used any pesticide, so indeed with a few bites out of the leaves they still are looking great!
      Kindest regards,

Thank you and yes, we both love an all white, so-called 'Moon Garden' but it cannot be totally done without accepting some other colors as well.

  4. Dear Mariette,
Your beautiful hibiscus flowers are amazing! It must be so exciting when they first start to bloom! You must be taking very good care of them to have such a lovely reward with these large blooms.

    1. Dearest Karen,
Well, the most amazing fact is to see them bloom at all. We did have a very wet spring and summer so that helped very well. Those hugs flowers wilt in no time if there is no water and of course we cannot water by hand in such a huge garden... So we pretty much depend on Mother Nature. We had drought before we left on our trip to Arizona and while we were gone those 7 days, it rained! Things looked very green when we got home Friday evening.
      Sending you hugs,
      Mariette

    1. Beste Marianne,
      Liefs,

Oh, we have carried seeds and starters back in those days as well. But that time is a closed book for now!

    1. Dearest Miyako,
Thank you and you should consider the huge size of our property compared to a usual Japanese or Dutch garden. That makes a lot of difference in being able to plant quite a variety of flowers, plants, shrubs and trees.
Yeah, I can upgrade my Windows 8 laptop to 8.1 and I have not (yet) done that. My PC is Windows 7... so whenever I work from my laptop it is a big difference. But you are savvy enough to handle that!
Hugs and love to my Japanese friend.

So schade!
      Mariette
