One of our Pot Plants that performed very well was the Aptenia Cordifolia or Heartleaf Ice Plant
This herbaceous perennial is such a tropical gem from South Africa!
No it's NOT a succulent...
Photos are all taken on October 10, this one at a moment with less sunshine...
Sometimes we get lucky and are able to catch a lovely butterfly!
Here you see the cloudless sulphur, Phoebis sennae (Linnaeus)
All tones of yellow with our retaining wall in Golden Mist by Benjamin Moore
Hope you enjoyed the Heartleaf Ice Plant and Cloudless sulphur butterfly!
In never can get a butterfly to stay put long enough to get a good picture! Pretty pink flower.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful plant! This passion pink flower is really a tropical gem. The photos with butterfly are incredible, Mariette. And looks like the butterfly is enjoying flower very much :-)

Ger
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteThe pink flower against the icy green leaves is delightful. Now I want to get another one.....mine died in too much water a few summers ago.
You must be very patient to get that spectacular photo of the butterfly! Mine are usually colorful blurs!
Toes crossed that you get some sun in the coming week!
Wonderful that you managed to catch the butterfly on the flower.

Hello dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for kind and so supportive words.
you are such a lovely friend.
It still takes quite an effort for me to blog, now that I am alone, I have this huge property to take care of, tons of leaves to rake, and many shrubs to prune.
But at least it keeps my mind away somewhat;
What a lovely post!
I remember having this plant in my south african garden, it is very cute.
Much love and hugs and enjoy your week
Bonjour Mariette

beautiful plant indeed. Do you bring it indoors during the cold month?
ReplyDeleteDearest Daniela,
DeleteYes, this one has to be brought inside. As a matter of fact it is already in the greenhouse due to the heavy rain we have for days.
Hugs,
