Communist Hungary with Husband Pieter Part V - Martonvásár Beethoven Museum

After our dinner the previous night and the 3 hour ride in the bus back to the Congress Center in Budapest we had to rise early again at 6:30 because we would depart by bus at 8:00.
We went to MARTONVÁSÁR to the BEETHOVEN MUSEUM
Quite a Ludwig van Beethoven statue!
Beethoven stayed several times in the 18th century country house in
Martonvásár
When he went to visit the noble family Brunswick.
Concerts take place here In July.
Under an old poplar on the island in the lake, Beethoven sat to compose...
Ludwig van Beethoven's writing...
Here was also an agricultural research institute.
Lung-Chi Wu sent us this picture with both of us in it.

Stay tuned for the next stop...

Thanks for your visit and comment!

  1. What an interesting life you have. Being able to see and enjoy so much of the world. My late husband and I were able to travel a lot of places overseas in our young days. Still enjoy the memories.

  6. Dear Mariette - all of the statues and images I have ever seen always show Beethoven looking so dark and brooding, but he had so much to contend with going deaf at such a young age - I imagine that is the worse affliction that could possibly affect a composer. It is wonderful that he actually left us all with such a wonderful body of work that continues to delight so many of us today.
The Agricultural Research Institute looks as if it was in a delightful setting.

    1. Dearest Rosemary,
That indeed must be the very worse, getting deaf as such a genius of a composer like Beethoven was! He did not live in vain and he let the world inherit numerous masterpieces from his hands.
Yes, the Agricultural Research Institute was in a perfect place.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  7. Hi Mariette, I'm having Safari problems. When I reply to comments on my blog, it doesn't publish. I'm signed in, but the blog doesn't recognize that I'm signed in for commenting, and I have yet to solve the issue. Here too, I'm having trouble commenting as myself on Safari. So bear with me. Meanwhile, I'm on a different browser.

Beethoven's deafness coupled with his music talent is indeed fascinating: http://www.lvbeethoven.com/Bio/BiographyDeafness.html.

Yes, it must have been very devastating for him to get all his hearing problems en losing most of it and finally all...
For a long time Safari has not allowed me to comment. They are kind of ignoring blogger completely.

  8. Off late, I become very irregular in blogsphere, but after reading your comment I'm came here to reply. I yet to read all your posts. I'll comment on them after reading. I already know that you have a great experience in India, as you travelled in India much more than me. You can really understand how those roads are. Aren't they give goosebumps every now and then? Long back I had almost similar experience in Lonavla, near Mumbai. Those days I didn't even know I can write travelogues. Those days I was busy with career. Anyway, I love the comment you wrote.
I alway love your descriptive comments. Loads of love and hugs.

  9. Your Pic with Beethoven that amazing genius is wonderful ! I'd love to go visit it. Hope on a trip to Europe Son in Law Sergio could take us all.
You had an amazing life dear friend, I so admire it very much and it is what makes you such an open and aware human being, without been a blind fan to your believes.
I'd love to ask you for a fav, if I can. I'm not the "computed Savviest of them all" and so I've had enough of so many fake anonymous comments I get from all over my posts. I'm tired, so if you have a link I can go to in order to do what I must so to not receive them by the tens everyday.
Thank you for all you can.
    Have a terrific weekend.

As for your request, hope you did find it yesterday with the link to my post for changing settings.

  10. Wow, what a statue. I have now put on Beethoven in my Bose, and now listening to Symphony no. 7 - Presto.
So many plants are poisonous. Animals are pretty smart about them and seem to know it.
