{Moving Our LPG Gas Tank}

After our exterior got painted, there was one disturbing factor and that was the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) Tank for our artificial gas logs in the fire place... So we decided to move it out of the way!
Don't you agree that it was disturbing here? Wrong color and just an ugly sight...
Below this post you can see two links from previous post where you get to see the LPG Gas Tank as it still was matching with the rest...
Husband Pieter started with pouring a concrete platform in front of the chimney.
There the LPG Gas Tank will blend in far better!
Bags of concrete were hauled in my 16 year old Toyota RAV4 and further action.
Platform in the making...
Without any equipment we moved the LPG Gas Tank off its old platform and onto the new one.
Rolling it over wooden poles, using planks and other wooden poles to push and lift.
Here it is still on its side...
And here we already put it upright on its new concrete platform.
Don't you think it is looking far better this way?
To the left you see the patio in front of our Rose Suite Entrance.
Also our Rose Stepping Stones you can see here.
Total picture with the Rose Suite Patio showing also.
Stepping further back towards the big Live Oak Tree and you see the Rose Stepping Stones.
All our Jasmine plants...
Now the Jasmines are on the former LPG Gas Tank's concrete platform...
Here you have a better over view.
So what do you think; an improvement or not?

  1. WOW!!! That was a huge project Pieter is amazing. Dearest Mariette it looks great and your jasmine will create a beautiful screen to further take out of site. We had one of those tanks when we first moved to our country home - I was happy when we discovered that for a small (well maybe not so small ..lol) fee we were able to get natural gas. We opted for the gas line - which is buried underground over the huge tank.
You and Pieter inspire us to keep our home in the country - it's lots of work, as you know. Hugs and blessings, C. (HHL)

    1. Dearest Celia,
That was one of those not-so-nice-to-do projects but we got it tackled! All in time before we left for Florida! Glad it's done and yes, those jasmines camouflage that tank further. Wish we could have here natural gas too.
It is lots of work for all the upkeep in and even more so, around the house!
      Hugs,

  10. Hello Mariette, I wish that I had half the energy of you two--when I think even of all the small projects here that remain undone...

In my last house in Ohio, we had an outdoor oil tank which was larger and more awkward than your propane one. Luckily, we were able to get natural gas installed, and the old tank was taken away.

Well, thanks for your kind words but it sure remains hard work. We took just 8 days off in Florida for some relaxing time; much needed!
Wish we had natural gas but it is not yet available here. Those tanks, small or large are seldom decorative objects around the house!

Most of the time we can manage anything on our own and this was a bit harder but DONE. The old fashioned way of rolling it over a wooden pole and using wooden handles to lift. It works; I was amazed too. My husband luckily still remembers those methods from the days of his Dad... The lawn was still too soggy for having a truck come in to lift it.
Happy week to you and hugs!

Well, we hope we have tackled most big projects by now!
If you are not strong you have to be smart and rolling a heavy item over some poles works for moving them! A very old fashioned way but if needed, will still function today. Our lawn was way too soggy for having a truck come to lift it off and move it to its new spot. So in a way we had no choice.
We're pleased with the results. Thanks for your sweet comment here. It is always a pleasure to visit back and forth!
