On July 21 of 1980, husband Pieter had a chance to visit Taman Mini Indonesia Park near Jakarta.
Such as this colorful Sumatra House
Look at its roof shape!
Such a detailed wood carving...
No doubt that took lots of hours to accomplish.
Incredible detail!
Now to the Sulawesi Pavilion...
Actually a stilt house, with an enormously steep roof...
Again, incredible detail in woodcarving and color.
Thatched roof.
Guess the sky is the limit...
Thanks for your visit and comment!

Hello Mariette, All that wonderful carving and embellishment. Very unique and individual. You know me, I would have loved exploring around for older, hidden examples.
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteYou no doubt would have enjoyed exploring that entire park.
Yes, Indonesia is famous for its wood carving and these exotic colors work well for the tropics.
Hugs,
Mariette
Traja style architecture is amazing. We can see a similar design in old buildings such as Ise shrine.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you.
Dearest RTC,
DeleteYes, you sure have lots of ancient architecture in Japan and that too looks always amazing and consists for a big part of wood as well.
People have been real artists over the ages.
Hugs,
Mariette
Love it.
ReplyDeleteDearest Regine,
DeleteWho would not love such excellent woodcarving and special architecture?!
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow very unique and amazing buildings! The detail of woodwork is incredible! It must have taken lots of hours and manpower to finish. Love the roof in the second photo :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, Mariette. Happy weekend to you xo
Dearest Tamago,
DeleteYes, this looks rather intricate and labor intensive but guess they always had enough hands on for completing.
Incredible roof top indeed.
Hugs and happy weekend to you!
Mariette
It was a miniature of Indonesian culture. it seem you visiting around Indonesian archipelago.
ReplyDeleteDearest Endah,
DeleteGuess it would be a lot easier for visiting Taman Mini, instead of doing the island hop.
Hugs,
Mariette
