It was not very active...
One wonders what was the matter?
Here it is looking a little bit up and showing its eye.
Not shy at all!
Pieter did come back to it, with a bowl of water and with its TWO HANDS it GRABBED it and DRANK...
When checking this spot later, it was gone...
Do you have Raccoons living on your property?
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI am really lucky, we don't have Racccoons here! I know from regions, where they are, and it is a big problem there! They break a lot, they empty tras cans, and they attack pets ... no fun at all!
Have a lovely week,
Love and hugs, Claudia xo
Dearest Claudia,
DeleteNever heard of them attacking pets and our six kitties never ever had an encounter with any of them. If they can open a trash can, it proves that they are not closed off well.
We love them!
Hugs,
Mariette
Liefs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, When I lived in Kirtland, Ohio there were many raccoons. When I turned on the deck light at night, I would see perhaps eight pairs of reflective eyes, distracted from their task of trying to get into the garbage cans (they were often successful). When I moved to another wooded area, however, raccoons were much fewer, although there was a tremendous amount of small wildlife on the property.
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteThat is a lot of raccoons together. We've never encountered that many. Just a couple or a mother with a baby.
Our trash cans are on the driveway and never have been a problem.
Hugs,
Mariette
What a cute raccoon! It's so kind of your husband Pieter to offer a water. In this heat, the raccoon must have been really thirsty. We have raccoon around here as well. Though the naughty one left a big poop on our deck. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteDearest Tamago,
DeleteWell, this was on February 11 and for some reason it was lacking some fresh drinking water I guess.
Leaving its 'business card' on your deck was not very nice!
Hugs,
Mariette

ReplyDeleteCheers
Dearest Travis,
DeleteYes, they are very cute and let's hope after replenishing its water intake, it was fine and good to go.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh he looks like he really needed that drink Mariette, isn't he sweet with his little masked face. No we definitely don't have racoons, I get mostly birds of many varieties in my garden. I do see a blue tongued lizard every now and then. I'm pretty sure there will be spiders out there but as long as they stay out there it's fine by me đ
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
DeleteYou got so many other exotic critters in your region.
We also have all sorts of lizards and other reptiles, some with beautiful blue tails and stripes, almost iridescent.
Australia is known for its big spiders, we got them too but I'm not afraid of them, love to photograph them.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Agnieszka,
ReplyDeleteYes it indeed is a beautiful animal!
Hugs,
Mariette
It has gotten close!
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteYes, this raccoon got very close to Pieter and it stayed there all the time.
Hugs,
Mariette
Cutie.
ReplyDeleteDearest Regine,
DeleteYes, raccoons are very cute animals!
Hugs,
Mariette
No raccoons around here don't think I have ever have seen on in person
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteBut you got other special animals Down Under!
Hugs,
Mariette
No raccoons here and I've never seen one either, but they look cute. So nice that he drank the water Pieter gave him.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sami,
DeleteThey sure are cute and we enjoy having them.
This was the closest interaction with any of them ever.
Well, a friend used to have one as a pet when he was young.
It swam with him, by holding on to his shoulders...
Hugs,
Mariette
The altitude here is a little too high for them. How humane of you to give the little guy a drink.
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
DeleteAltitude brings its own flora and fauna indeed.
Of course one would give the residents on our property a drink.
Hugs,
Mariette
We don't have raccoons in Greece, but I was lucky to see a couple when I was in Montreal and they were so cute!
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to see "yours" drinking the water Pieter offered him.
Have a nice weekend, dearest friend!
Marie-Anne
Dearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteYou indeed got lucky for having seen them in Montreal, Canada.
They are very cute and I myself wish for having seen that, or better yet; taping it.
Hugs,
Mariette
