Pieter Wearing his Silk Ascot with his Dad's Tie Stick Pin

Pieter loves wearing one of his tweed suits during cooler weather...
Like this McGregor.
Guess it is in his DNA... see post below.
January 15 was cool enough for wearing his lambswool vest under tweed jacket with his Silk Ascot from Salvatore Ferragamo and using his Dad's Tie Stick Pin
McGregor used to be a Dutch Fashion brand.
Detail with the Gold Tie Stick Pin
A little seed pearl is being set in this antique gold tie stick pin.
This fine antique gold tie stick pin is still complete with butterfly clutch.
Short 40 seconds video showing how the tie stick pin is being inserted.
Be aware though that in this shortened video, there is NO BUTTERFLY CLUTCH!
The fine silk ascot is from Salvatore Ferragamo, made in Italy.

Does any of you have an ascot for yourself or your spouse?

  1. Hello Mariette, I have never worn as ascot tie. I guess that I have none of Pieter's panache. Is this the tie pin made from his mother's earring that you once told about?

    1. Dearest Jim,
You must not have much British in your DNA... Pieter always loved the British style.
Yes, this is the tie pin made from his Mother's earring! You have a great memory and Pieter was only a child, more he does not recall about it. My question was, if she might have lost one earring and created this out of the one left. Pieter does not know as it was way before his 'memory time'.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  6. He looks so handsome! I've always loved to see a well-dressed man wearing a silk ascot, and this Ferragamo print is really super posh!!! I used to wear a lot of silk scarves before we became such a casual bunch of dressers! Still like to 'dress up' with accessories but must admit these past two years I've not really been shopping for fashion! Hope this will change once we can enjoy the stores sans masks!!!!!
    Still 'down south" Mariette? xx

    1. Dearest Mary,
Thank you and yes, this was a perfect silk ascot.
You are right about not having been to many formal events over the past two years.
Yes, we are back from down south, drove home on Monday after our 9 nights.
Shocking to me was however that our beloved Colonnade Outlets near Sawgrass Mills were nearly empty! My favorite Escada store was gone... Last Call by Neiman Markus and also Saks Fifth Off were nearly empty. Quite shocking and the entire area looked so abandoned. What is going on in our once so great nation? No merchandise, killing the retail business completely?!
We enjoyed meeting with dear friends in Lakeland and in Sarasota.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  10. He looks very dapper. Men just don't dress like that much anymore. My husband loves to get dressed up in a suit. Me getting dressed up? - not so much anymore.

Thank you and yes, it is true that after retirement there seems less need for dressing up. But Pieter still loves to wear his suits and I do too.

  13. How dashing and elegant he looks! When we married 50 years ago I remember my husband had a silk ascot, but alas, Australia has become so casual these days they are rarely seen. The tie pin is very special and beautiful.

    1. Dearest Patricia,
Thank you and how special that your husband wore a silk ascot on your wedding day!
When one looks around, indeed at certain events things are being handled way too casual. In both our opinions, it still shows the amount of respect for the person or occasion you're going to attend.
Indeed, a lovely and special tie pin; an heirloom piece.
      Hugs,
