A DREAM for present times...
Dad used to sing this with the Horster Mannenkoor!
A younger Dad in 1974—ready to go and SING with his Horster Mannenkoor in Horst, Limburg/The Netherlands.
He has been a great 1st tenor.
In begin 1990s Dad gave us a cassette tape with some of the songs they sang.
Did digitalize a few of those songs—wish I had the original but this already made my singing heart happy...
Enjoy:
Thinking about Mom and Dad on Saint Cecilia | Dad also sang Thank You Lord with Pieter at the organ
Dad Sang Solo on Mom & Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary | previous post by me
Dad Sang The First Noel and Thank You Lord at Presbyterian Church | previous post by me
So special to have this beautiful memory of your dad and company. It sounds great.
ReplyDeleteDearest Debby,
DeleteThank you!
Yes, with a little effort and work—those become true treasures!

Very cheerful song.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteWell, don't know if it is cheerful as it is about Goin' home to live with God... You can read the lyrics below—if watching on YouTube.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hai un papà che era tenore.Buon fine settimana.
ReplyDeleteCara Olga,
DeleteSì, mio papà è stato cantante per ottant'anni...

The singing is lovely, Mariette, and my goodness, your dad was handsome!

Voices are intangible nutrition which have been supplying power for your life. Nice Sunday to you.

Hi, Mariette and Pieter!
ReplyDeleteI loved hearing the choir sing and you are previledge, because your father sang in it. Hearing them sing, reminds me of the concert Andre Rieu gave at his home and the church near is house, where the Royal Choir Society Mastreechter Staar participated.
So beautiful... I bought the DVD to see it every time I want, because I was blown away by it all. Here is the link, if you want to see who entered in the concert: https://www.andrerieu.com/en/about-andre/filmography/home-for-christmas
And your Dad was indeed very elegant and by all you write of him, he was especially elegant in his heart, as your mom was!
:)
Dearest Paula,
DeleteTHANK you for your meaningful comment and also for the link—loved listening to this favorite of my own Province of Limburg!
Dad would have loved to be part of the Royal Choir Society Mastreechter Staar but that was about 90 km down south from us.
Now I'm more than one year a choir member, those memories with Dad singing are even more valuable to me! The only one of the seven (alive) children following in Mom's soprano footsteps and Dad's 81–years of singing.
Hugs,
Mariette
Only saying it as I see it! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt must have been wonderful to have both parents singing in choirs. I would love to see you sing, Mariette! Do you have any videos you might post in the blog?
Dearest Paula,
DeleteWell, it was quite an honor for having two happy singing parents.
Yes, under the label singing you will find a YouTube video but you can't distinguish my voice from the choir like you can Dad's...
Twice about the Messiah and one about REVUE 2017 with the choir...
You also can type in those words in the search box—above right.
Hugs,
Mariette
Thank you, Mariette! I will check it out.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and Pieter!
:)
💞
DeleteI enjoyed it very much! Your family are talented as are you and Pieter. I shall listen to the other song as well when I get to utube.
ReplyDeleteDearest Katie Isabella,
DeleteThank you and such are now valuable memories!
Hugs,
Mariette
