Already on February 10, I took these photos of our SMILING PANSIES
Due to my bronchitis I took a lot of rest...
After lots of freezing nights and also rain, the pansies that Pieter planted early at the end of November.
They hardly showed, nor could lift their faces up...
So I waited for better days to capture them—February 10.
The entire length of Fiberglass Window Boxes along the driveway's retainer wall. Also captured our 'ever flowering' Rosemary.
We started with several new trailing Rosemary plants as they are evergreen and always blooming.
A paradise for bees—year round!
Another view, now the other direction towards the house.
Now walking around and showing you our Fiberglass Window Boxes at the kitchen bay window and veranda.
And on February 10, our Japanese Magnolia started budding.
Hoping there will be no more frost...
Our kitchen bay window, where the middle Fiberglass Window Box is showing the BEST progress yet.
Also you see the blooming orchids...
These orchids were a gift from a friend's daughter and her husband, given to us on June 17.
They bloomed a 2nd time and flowers were so HUGE that one stem is kind of broken... not fully severed though.
Yes, IF the sun is out, we enjoy our breakfast in the sunshine.
SMILING PANSIES also on this side of our home!
We opted for this color to match our Golden Mist home.
We also have blooming Rosemary as patio pot plants to keep our bees happy!
Are you also enjoying some spring flowers?

What a wonderful flower box, beautiful. Those pretty pansies always look so happy!
ReplyDeleteDearest Brian,
DeleteYes, pansies are happy flowers and oh so rewarding!
Hugs,
Mariette
Che foto meravigliose!Buona giornata.
ReplyDeleteCara Olga,
DeleteGrazie e anche tutti voi un buona giornata.
Abbracci,
Mariette
Our daffodils are starting to bloom. Your flowers are absolutely lovely, Mariette. I guess we're having an early spring here in Georgia.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Dearest Martha Jane,
DeleteWell, spring is one week late this year but it sure is unfolding!
Hugs,
Mariette
The pansies look lovely, boxes full of sunshine. When I was a child I called them "Funny Faces".
ReplyDeleteDearest Memories of Eric and Flynn,
DeleteThese pansies in the color that matches our home, are absolutely stunning and you as a child chose the perfect name!
Hugs,
Mariette
Seeing your spring flowers is uplifting, especially the pansies happy "faces."
ReplyDeleteWe had a snowstorm blow through late yesterday! 😆🌨️🌨️
Dearest Kim,
DeleteYes, pansies have such happy faces—they need to be shared!
We had a flood on Monday and poor Pieter had to run the two wet vacs from 11:00 AM till 9:00 PM and empty those buckets behind the house on a slope. That was living hell!
Hugs,
Mariette
The bright yellow really cheers us up.
ReplyDeleteDearest RTC,
DeleteThank you and it does influence people's thoughts.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh Mariette, how lovely the pansies and the rosemary and the magnolia outside! This looks so good to me and makes me long for our Spring to spring up in a couple more months. And the orchid! I have never tried one as I think of them as a bit touchy to get to rebloom. I am glad yours did. Thank you for sharing and hope you are feeling better. Lynn and Precious XX
ReplyDeleteDearest Lynn and Precious,
DeleteYou no doubt will follow soon and see things budding out.
Orchids are very easy and also for having them re–bloom—never cut their long stalks off as that is where the new buds will be formed!
My bronchitis is over yes and Pieter is almost 'done'... what a time.
Hugs,
Mariette
Love the exterior color of your house!
ReplyDeleteBuds and shoots aren't yet ready to come out of hiding here, and I'm waiting for my vernal garden to show signs that the Trillium planted last year are happy enough to come out to play.
Dearest Eastside Cats,
DeleteThank you, we are pleased with our Golden Mist color home—a happy color for when the sun is not shining...
Guess we will very soon see spring unfolding!
Hugs,
Mariette
How lovely post Mariette!
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteThank you and it is about the end of winter...
Hugs,
Mariette
Gorgeous yellow flowers! They are the perfect matching addition to your beautiful house.
ReplyDeleteDearest Duta,
DeleteThank you and yes they go together perfectly.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, Those flowers and budding magnolias are very cheerful, and I hope they are harbingers of a wonderful and fresh Spring for you and Pieter.
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteYes, they sure make a cheerful sight.
We both are looking forward to warmer spring weather—especially after the flooding on Monday. Poor Pieter had to run our 2 wet vacs on the tile floors in the Rose Suite...
Hugs,
Mariette
Hallo Mariette,
Liefs,
Mariette
No...I;m afraid it is still too too early for anything here. The bulbs have appeared through the ground..their spears if you will, looking healthy and about 7 inches tall. I love Pansies. I can't get on the ground any longer to plant them. I used to have beauties
ReplyDeleteDearest Katie Isabella,
DeleteWhen Pieter spotted these at Home Depot, end of November, he bought a good 60 of them and planted them. It took them quite a while to 'stand up' and SMILE. But they are perfect.
Lots of our bulbs have been cut off by the yard crew with their weed eaters... SAD. Some are now showing. But we have no choice, can't do the work all by ourselves.
Hugs,
Mariette
So many lovely photos
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteThank you, it makes a person happy, especially on a dark day.
Hugs,
Mariette
So pretty. The DO appear to be smiling!😊
ReplyDeleteDearest Peter,
DeleteYes, they sure appear to be smiling big time!
Hugs,
Mariette
Very fine flowers! I am being glad when I seeing them! Hugs Britt
ReplyDeleteDearest Britt,
DeleteThank you and yes, for you in an area where spring is not yet in sight it is special sight!
Hugs,
Mariette
Marriette,
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW nothing says happy and warm than a row of yellow pansy faces.
Just gorgeous as are all your blooms. I love the orchid and your tulip tree is about to burst with blooms.
I saw a lovely hanging basket of yellow pansies on an early morning walk last week. They made me smile
Hugs Cecilia
Dearest Cecilia,
DeleteThank you! Yes, yellow pansies always do make one smile.
Hugs,
Mariette
Beste Mariette,

Mariette

Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour spring flowers are so pretty!
It's amazing how they've persevered through freezing nights.
Like you, your garden is a testament to resilience.
Hugs and blessings
Dearest Veronica,
DeleteThank you and we sure do enjoy them—wish the sun would come out!
Well, persevering through cold weather is one thing and I slept around the clock as I felt so exhausted. Lost some weight as well but will get it back!
Hugs,
Mariette
Nowhere near spring here...it is 18F out there and the snow we had early on Saturday still is all there, even though we had a bit of sunshine. Brrr!
ReplyDeleteI just acquired a rescued orchid, it is the same species as yours, but who knows if it will survive or bloom at all. Right now I have it under a plant light...and I misted it with orchid food. It has a ton of aerial roots, but I think it's in the wrong kind of pot, too enclosed. So I will search for an orchid pot...they have a lot of holes in them for aeration of its roots, which normally are attached to tree trunks in the jungle. I looked at similar ones in the store, but they didn't have anything such as proper growing medium or pots...just some generic food to mist with...so Ms Orchid will have to wait until I can get to a store that has more appropriate stuff. At least he leaves are still green, LOL!
Your magnolia will soon put on a magnificent show!
Your pansies are so pretty!
My mother always said she thought they had little faces to smile at us!
Hope you are feeling better from the nasty bronchitis.
Dearest Ingrid,
DeleteIt still IS cold in your area but with time you too will see spring unfolding.
As you can see in our photo, the orchid is not in a special pot and it only gets water, nothing special. The main thing is to not cut off the stems where blooms have been as they form new buds on it. We had them in tropical Indonesia on our patio: https://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2012/08/our-tropical-patio-with-orchids-in.html
Our Japanese Magnolias are stunning but it is sad that the weather is dark and dreary...
Pansies sure do have little smiling faces!!!
Slept around the clock and my nasty bronchitis is almost gone...
Hugs,
Mariette
Olá, Mariette, belíssima a casa do distinto casal.
Mariette
How pretty your pansies look in all the window boxes at your house. So sorry to hear you had bronchitis. I had it a couple times growing up, and the cough is so bad and lasts for so long. I hope you feel better soon with that. I also like those yellow pots that your rosemary is in. No Spring here yet. It has rained all week, but no complaints, as when I see rain in California, I rejoice. Your home looks so charming with the white window frames and white flower boxes, Mariette. And these pictures are delightful.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
ps.....I was wondering if you would ever consider using a bigger font? Can hardly read your very small font with these tired eyes. ; )
Dearest Sheri,
DeleteThank you and they sure are a joy to look at. We always have loved these fiberglass flower boxes, they go well with our windows and home.
We had some very dreary and dark days and rather cool.
As for my font, I've always used the normal size font. There is small and smaller... so I don't know why you have this problem. On your tablet, or whatever you read it on, you can adjust it yourself! Pieter uses the iPad and I use mainly my MacBook but both show the print in readable format and as said, it can be enlarged. Pieter often asks for that as his eyes are not young anymore...
Hugs,
Mariette
When I create a post, I am doing it from my computer, and there are six font settings to choose from, smallest to largest. I have always chosen "largest." But it may be different if using an IPad. Thanks for getting back to me on that. : )
DeleteDearest Sheri,
DeleteOn my MacBook I see 8 font types in 6 font sizes. But while reading you can enlarge it via your keyboard. For me that is command+
Wishing you the very best!
Hugs,
Mariette
Spring is approaching and it can already be felt in the air. Your garden is looking so wonderful.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Dearest Cristina,
DeleteYes, it can be felt and heard from the birds.
Hugs,
Mariette
Okay, I take back my comment that your home looks like a welcoming bed and breakfast. It's more like something out of a happily-ever-after fairy tale ending. :)
