Happy Father's Day to my Father-in-law in Heaven

Guess I have seen my Father-in-law when I was a teenager, going to Church in Horst, The Netherlands but I never officially met him. Sad, as I would have loved to meet him in person! He passed away on Friday, April 21, 1967 when I was only 16 years old.
On Sunday, August 15, 1920 this photo was taken of my Father-in-law.
A very handsome young man he was!
Husband Pieter always told me that his Dad was a kind of a philosopher...
Even I can remember those kind of shirt collars, as my Dad also wore them.
They got buttoned on.
Visible is his tie pin, which was very common at that time.
Also a pocket square.
One more photo of my Father-in-law, wearing a wool fedora hat.
The way people dressed up at that time is so different from nowadays' often way too casual dress style.

One day we will meet.
So far I am lucky for still having my own Dad being alive at the age of 96!

Happy Weekend to all and thanks for your visits and comments.

{My Hand Knitted Irish Aran Men's Vest}

At the time that husband Pieter still needed to travel frequently to Portage La Prairie in Manitoba, Canada for Campbell Soup, I did hand knit this Irish Aran Mens's Vest for him from a Burda magazine. That kept him nicely warm. Here in Georgia, it hardly ever is being worn but on Sunday, January 12, we went for a walk and Pieter wore it.
Knitted in Phildar wool in Rustique Naturelle... with wooden buttons.
Knitted from the Dutch Burda Breien en Haken 365 patroon 101
Did knit this from a German description however, since the enclosed pattern got lost...
Here you see husband Pieter, wearing my hand knitted Irish Aran Vest and also his Bailey Trilby Tweed - Wool Fedora Hat from Hatcountry's Italian collection.
Blue winter sky made for a perfect walk...
this is the back part of the Vest with raglan sleeves.
Detail of the cable knitting...
Ribcord jeans are from the Outlet by Ermenegildo Zegna.
Rubber boots are French Le Chameau  click it
Okay, let's walk on...
On January 13, 1985, I proudly show my just finished Irish Aran Men's Vest to my Dublin Mama 'Alice' and to my Thai–American friend Somai.
This photo is taken at our previous Dublin home...
This heavy vest I did knit in 11 days; just in time for a winter trip into Portage La Prairie, Manitoba in Canada for Pieter!
Have you done any Irish Aran pattern?

{2013 Fiat 500 versus Fiat 500 Topolino}

Last year, actually last week, we went to Atlanta, Georgia, for stocking up at our favorite stores: Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Cost Plus World Market and Costco. We also stopped at Lenox Square Mall to go to Neiman Marcus. Quite surprised to find a 2013 Fiat 500 parked in the mall as being the Best Gift You'll Ever Get... Or Give.
It instantly did bring back memories from Italy, from the time we worked and lived there in Il Veneto.
At that time when we had moved from Pennsylvania to Italy, there was a strike at the harbor of Genua so our containers did not arrive in time. But my Dad did lend us his Ford Fiesta to drive down to Italy. That's what we did for our trip of about 12 hours one way to Cornuda, TV in Italy, all the way from the south of The Netherlands.
Here is the 2013 Fiat 500 at Lenox Square Mall
From Fiat USA of Atlanta
My husband Pieter standing in front of those cute Fiat 500 models at Lenox Square Mall...
Wearing his wool Fedora hat and lambskin leather jacket from Pond's India's Leather Garment Factory.
Just had to snap these pictures with my iPhone!
Hah, here is my Dad's Ford Fiesta parked at work (seen left in photo), beside one cute red Fiat 500 Topolino and there is another one in front... It was quite a change in car-size, coming from Pennsylvania, USA to Italy!
Actually the Fiat 500 is born on July 4, 1957. Just click that hyperlink for some videos of this cute Little Mouse as it translates to in English from the Italian Topolino.
Fond memories of Italy!
Are some of you driving a Fiat 500 at present?
Or any cute little car for that matter?
