Wearing my hand knitted vest with my English woolen tweed suit from Planet.
Husband Pieter did buy this suit for me in London, many years ago when he was by himself and it still fits perfect!
The entire Planet suit.
Worn with a Laurèl silk blouse and Escada shoes and Wolford pantyhose, both from the Outlet at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in New York State.
This classic tweed suit does have a dark brown velvet collar.

The vest has cables knit into the front and back. Also a mice tooth edging and knitted-in button holes.
Detail from the cables, two fine ones with a broad one in the center. You also can see the button holes and buttons with mice tooth edging all around vest.
This is the back, with three of those cable rows knitted in.
Very practical it reads on the side, it was in the Anna Burda, February 1983.

Mariette,this is so smart and could be worn on any occasion. I do like knitting cable and usually do at least 2 jumpers in Winter but have never put them on my blog. I made one each for hubby and me last Winter,his was cable. I must photograph it. xx

Really nice Mariette, you still knit? Everytime I see a nice hand-knitted garment my mind itching... I still can knit... but can I? I ask myself... can't remember what st is what now... well, keep on dreaming... may be one day! LOL...

ReplyDeleteBoth the vest and the suit are to die for, Mariette - I am partial to tweed suits, but I lost mine in Katrina. However, my best friend gave me beautiful yarn and a pattern for a cable vest for my birthday. I haven't begun knitting it yet because I'm working on a sweater for a chihuahua that I'm fixing to adopt from our local shelter. He needs a sweater more than I need a vest! <3
