{HEAR - SEE - SPEAK NO EVIL}

Our tiled patio (see link below post) in front of the Rose Suite, also displays these cute German Wackelzwerge or Wobbly Dwarfs as they move in the wind or by touching. We got them from our German 'Son' and family. Besides being cute, they also convey an age-old moral message of: HEAR - SEE - SPEAK NO EVIL.
Does any of you have dwarfs or other statues in the garden?
This trio of Wackelzwerge - dwarfs, is glued onto the retainer wall.
HEAR - SEE - SPEAK NO EVIL
YES, I hear you...!
Wearing my Escada military style dress...
The retainer wall also holds this planter with trailing yellow plants. I have no idea what they are... anyone out there with a name for them?
Behind the yellow flowers is our Jasminum Nitidum or Royal Jasmine. Below this post there is a linkfrom a previous post I did about them.
Jasminum Nitidum 'Royal Jasmine' detail.
Wishing you a lovely Sunday!

{Cloudy Day versus Sunny Day}

In our garden things look more golden and bright on a Sunny Day, versus a Cloudy Day. But we do need the cloudy days and the rainy days, for keeping our trees, shrubs and plants alive. The last couple of days have yielded some long awaited rains. Not enough yet, as the soil has a very poor water holding capacity but any amount of rain helps. Let's look at the same trees on a cloudy day, followed by a sunny day... We ourselves probably look different too on our sunny days! Sunshine makes us all feel happy and light, putting a spring in our step. Cloudy days and rain do drag us down and make us feel heavy... Or is anyone feeling the opposite?

  • The watering hose is always on standby for when it does not rain. This is such a cloudy day with heavy overcast and the trees do have different colors. The 'Quercus Vigriniana Grand View Gold' to the right is not looking real golden... With our Palm tree it looks quite exotic.

  • The Grand View Gold looks a bit tarnished...

  • Our Acer Negundo Kelly's Gold Yellow Box Elder on a cloudy day, next to the Acer Rubrum or Red Maple.

  • Our Acer Negundo Kelly's Gold Yellow Box Elder on a cloudy day...

  • Again on a cloudy day, but a bit closer with our 3rd bridge in view as well.

  • Our Acer Negundo Kelly's Gold Yellow Box Elder on a SUNNY day!

  • Acer Negundo Kelly's Gold Yellow Box Elder on the left and the Acer Rubrum or Red Maple to the right in full sunshine... Our 3rd bridge across the creek is visible here too.

Below you can see our newest, replaced 1st bridge across the creek.

  • We end with a '24 karat' Golden Live Oak, Quercus Virginiana Grand View Gold,  on a SUNNY day...

Quite a difference...

{SUGAR is your #1 enemy!}

  • Since some of you have asked me what my secret is for maintaining the same size and weight since I was 15, here is an interesting story about sugar.
  • In 2007 I learned that I had high blood sugar levels, diabetes type 2 or diabetes mellitus as they call it. Since than I have removed most sweet foods from my daily diet.
  • I never drank coke or any soft drinks, just plain water.
  • From childhood on I always have had a fondness of fruits and vegetables, of course being the daughter of a market gardener I was born into them.
  • That is a good and healthy habit.
  • In a later post I will show you some fruits that are natural diuretics, that also helps you for looking slim(mer). Below this post you find some helpful links to my previous posts!
  • Now about this fun way of expressing the effect of sugar intake. I received it in an email and below the post I can give you a link of info I found on the Internet.
  • Guess the sugar consumption world wide is very, very high and we can tell! Be aware...

  • A Unique Way To Present This...
  • 4.2 grams = 1 teaspoon of sugar, so this looks like 1 cube is about the same!
  • Someone ought to get an award for this.
  • We know the facts, but this brings it into perspective quickly, doesn’t it?
  • Each cube is a teaspoonful (American teaspoon sizing is larger than elsewhere).
  • The fresh fruit sugar, called glucose, is not as bad as processed sugar. It will be broken down by our body slowly and is converted into sucrose and glycogen. Versus processed sugar that will be absorbed very fast into the bloodstream. Therefore fruits are always recommended for Diabetes type 2 patients.

  • Now someone needs to do this with salt!

'When someone shares something of value
with you and you benefit from it, you have
a moral obligation to share it with others.'
