Our Garden Critters that I want to share with you...
Argiope Aurantia or Black and Yellow Argiope Spider
What a beauty!
You clearly can see why they also call it the zigzag spider...
Pieter took an excellent photo of it.

WOW! What a stunner!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday, Mariette.
Dearest Veronica,
DeleteA stunner yes, but she will never win in size with those in Indonesia we saw and that you no doubt have also in Malaysia.
Hugs,
Mariette
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm still running away.
God bless, Mariette.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteYour Tortoise will be laughing at you!
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow, very beautiful and a wonderful photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm terrified of spiders, though, and if I saw that, probably everyone in a 50 km radius would hear me screaming! :-O
Dearest Kim,
DeleteThis was a beauty that needed to be captured in a perfect way.
My youngest sister is also terrified of spiders but I guess those critters are more afraid of us as the other way around.
Hugs,
Mariette
Gosh that is a beauty Mariette, beautifully captured here by Pieter ✨
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
DeleteThank you and yes it sure is a beauty!
Hugs,
Mariette
iik! I don't like spiders.
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteWell, you don't have to like them but still can admire their beauty! 🕷
Hugs,
Mariette
Buena tela de araña ha hecho, para atrapar a otros insectos.
ReplyDeleteBesos
Querida Antónia,
DeleteSí, una tela en zig-zag muy especial que hace.
Abrazos,
Mariette
Such a pretty spider. I would be delighted to find one…only if it was way out in the garden…far from my house!
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
DeleteShe sure is pretty and rest assured, they are not interested in our house.
Very beneficial in catching flies, wasps, mosquitoes etc.
Hugs,
Mariette
Very impressive!!!! You don't mention the size of this spider, dearest Mariette, but I guess it must be quite large!!!
ReplyDeleteMany hugs!!!
Dearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteThey are lovely and only 19-22 mm in size. The male are only 5-9 mm.
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow.................
ReplyDeleteDearest J0-Anne,
DeleteIt is a lovely critter!
Hugs,
Mariette

Dearest Gustyanita,
DeleteThank you, but this is not a gigantic spider like in your country!
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, Usually Fall is the season to see such large and stunning spiders, at least in Ohio. At least that kind isn't furry. In Taiwan we have some large ones, but luckily they are shy and don't cause too much of a problem.
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteThat is correct and this photo is from September 23 when Pieter took it.
We know those large ones, from Indonesia! Never had a problem with them.
Hugs,
Mariette
TRULY a beauty! I envy that capture! I'm starting to look for Garden Orb Weavers.
ReplyDeleteDearest Katie Isabella,
DeletePieter did an excellent job on this capture!
Yes, soon the Garden Orb Weavers will show up again.
Hugs,
Mariette
A pretty spider. I'm scared of spiders, even tiny ones, lol.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sami,
DeleteThis sure is a beauty.
No, I've never been scared of spiders.
Hugs,
Mariette
bellissima foto!
ReplyDeleteCara Olga,
DeleteGrazie e sì, c'è bellissima.
Abbracci,
Mariette
Wow, that's impressive! Excellent photo, too.
ReplyDeleteDearest Peter,
DeleteThank you and my Pieter has been an excellent photographer all his life.
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow, prachtig! De spin en het web zijn goed te zien.
ReplyDeleteBeste Willy,
DeleteJa, deze spin is heel mooi 'gevangen' door Pieter met zijn camera!
Liefs,
Mariette
Those colors are certainly great for this coming season - shades of gold seem to be popping up everywhere. . . . .I now need one of these colorful spiders on my porch to catch the mozzies - but only if it doesn't bite, lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo Pieter!
Dearest Mary,
DeleteYes, any golden colors will stand out.
We are so fortunate to have industrious little bats catching lots of our 'mozzies'. But near the greenhouse area you get pestered by lots of mosquitoes.
Nah, such a spider does not bite humans! They are serious and hard workers, catching insects and no interest in any human.
Hugs,
Mariette
Mariette
