When the painters detected some rotting in one of the exterior door frames, Pieter had that section repaired with WoodEpox® from ABATRON, INC.
After searching for some protection, this was the ONLY thing that would fit our entrance door.
DOORBRIM Rain Diverters from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
You can see our Florentine Fig peaking over the fence.
Our Home got again repainted with Benjamin Moore, Golden Mist and white for the windows and doors.
So glad I found this: Shed Door Canopy Stops Leaks & Dripping | DOORBRIM Awnings←click link.
So that is what I ordered and Pieter installed it himself.
Yes, it is proudly MADE in USA
Pieter had to cut it out for making it fit on our stucco part.
Now that door frame is well protected!

ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,

Thank you for your comment on my random thoughts. It seems being a parent is a liability these days. My kids think I am a complete idiot which I know for a fact I am not and my husband is most definitely not. I fear the world they are growing up. They think by defining everything and changing the labels that we will grow closer, but I feel like it is doing the exact opposite. While I know that Blacks in American are still at times disadvantaged, I think Martin Luther would roll over in his grave. I will never celebrate Floyd as a hero. I feel bad that he died, but had he not put himself in that situation by using counterfeit money and used drugs and resisted arrest he wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. I can't remember the word my husband told me that they want to replace mother with, but it is crazy. I don't care if someone feels bad by the term, I am not giving that one up. I will always be a mother and not some kind of storage unit that housed a child for 9 months. I feel I am witnessing the decline of what was once a great society.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kelleyn,
DeleteIt is very sad to see the world go into the direction it is being pushed by some greedy minds that want to control us all... Be strong and by no means you are an idiot. May God help us all.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, The name Abatron is a very familiar one. When I used to study architectural restoration, Abatron's products (mostly epoxies, as I recall) were used as standard in many historical restorations, patching up wood and other materials. I am not surprised to see them making these awnings, as water is the worst enemy that can creep into a building. Pieter did a great job as always with the fitting and installing.

Dearest Jim,
DeleteWe both are very pleased with the find of this Doorbrim.com as it indeed protects the entrance. Adjusting it has been done to perfection by Pieter, using his iron saw.

Dearest Travis,
DeleteOne wishes often to have had things available right from the start...😉
We both loved Arizona, all four times that we visited; twice for the SPAWN MATE SYMPOSIUM where Pieter presented a paper.

Looks good
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteYes, it looks good and is doing its job.

What an interesting and brilliant product! I would have loved to have one of those at previous home we rented a long time ago... but then, if the landlordof that place had done some much-needed work, something like that wouldn't have been necessary. I'm going to bookmark that website for future reference! Hugs to you, Mariette!
ReplyDeleteDearest Diana,
DeleteIt indeed is a brilliant product.
Often the preventive maintenance is way behind and thus running into bigger issues that also cost more $$$.
Hugs,
Mariette
Great idea to protect the wood from the elements. Amazing how quickly moisture can rot wood.I know first hand having had a beach house!
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
DeleteThis sure is a wonderful product and we only wish we'd found this sooner.
The elements can 'eat' up wood...
Hugs,
Mariette
Looks like you found some good solutions to some problems! I didn't even see the third pig until you pointed it out. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDearest Kelleyn,
DeleteYes, this was a treasure to be found.
Hah, Ivy put a lot into that drawing, the 3rd piglet is hidden behind the sad pink one and looks exactly like the one on the left; pointed ears.
Precious things to save!
Hugs,
Mariette
It seems like a good solution to keep the door open for years to come.
